Vigilant has just so much story hidden all over. My favourite hidden feature is a book which can only be found in Bruiant manor in act 3. It's a book which includes a prophecy of Marukh involving the fake ada bal. It includes the creation of Bard, the rise of Alessian empire, when the stone was lost, and the last prophecy is bone chilling. The last lines are about an individual who gets offered the red stone three times. Two times he/she avoids the stone, but on the 3rd time they greedily swallow the stone and the gates of oblivion open before them. Yes, Marukh prophesized the moment when dragonborn is send to coldharbour. That's also the last line of the book, indicating that dragonborn was the final act which completes the story of the red stone.
The way I think about Act IV of Vigilant is that it's an endurance match between you and Molag Bal- or, more accurately, between your ability to persist and stay hopeful, versus the horrors Bal is responsible for both in Coldharbour and outside of it. It's all incredibly heavy, but by giving these people their last rites, you can do something to mitigate their suffering. Now, it's hard not to ask- Is it enough? Does it matter? I would say that any attempt to help someone suffering matters- and by the end of it, I felt that that was what Vigilant was trying to say too. I said this on your previous Vigilant vid, but thank you for giving it the attention it deserved. It found me at a time when I needed some of that hope restored, and it succeeded. Thank you for your part in that.
Interesting fact, that whole good route with Mary and Pepe is taken almost word for word from the Grand Inquisitor scene from the novel "Brothers Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoevski. I recommend giving it a read - at least, the scene, I mean.
The Stray Cat of Chorrol book is taken almost word for word from one of Ivan's stories he tells to Alyosha about the children. Vicn, by his own admission, takes a lot of inspiration from Dostoevsky, specifically from The Brothers Karamazov.
Honestly who needs ES6 when we have this absolutely wonderful trilogy of mods to play through. Dont get me wrong I eagerly await it as anyone, but i feel like mods like the Vicn trilogy is more than enough to play through, discuss and theorize until then

Ive stumbled upon vigilant back when when glenmoril didnt even existed and played it several times and yet my mind still gets blown when watching ur videos. thank you so much for putting these videos together.
Deepest lore as always, good video.Kyne best girl, the part with the dragon getting the flower was very touching amidst an ocean of people exploding in gore. Also too bad that even if you get the arcana you dont get a new massive fire spell
The story of Jazhar is actually based on the story of Richard from the Dostoesky novel The Brothers Karasamov No Im not a cultured gentlemen who enjoys classical Russian literature, I simply watched a video by Ratotoskr about the lore of the flame of frenzy in Elden Ring, and how the stories of great suffering done to innocents and injustice could make you want the flame to want to burn the pain and mistkakes of the world away, instead of waiting for a divine being, if one exists to do it for you, or even worse, for those innocents who have suffered and those who have caused their suffering to meet after judgement day in the kingdom of a God to "forgive" one another. ‘love thy neighbour’ even if they’re vile because they will be judged in the next world. No, says Ivan, that’s too much to ask, particularly when it comes to those who cause the most suffering in the least deserving."
What's insane about this mod is that no matter how much more I learn and no matter how many despicable character pop up, at the end of the day, my conclusion is still the same: Molag Bal is still by far the most evil one here, maybe in all of TES lore.
@@SharmatLorkhan well numidium isn't evil because it pretty much has no personality, in c∅da it was described as a "forced avatar of anu" sent to unmake the world throughout it's reality erasing ability (it literally zero sums anyone that gets near it when it's used ) so the most evil: No The most destructive by nature: yes

27:37 In my humble opinion I think it is Avatar of Aka the oversoul. If you have mod Skyrim Cheat engine, you can even find his armor and it is called Time Guardian or something like that. And in Unslaad I think Vicn used this model just to add to the atmosphere. No more no less.
29:40 not quite, if talos achived amaranth it would mean that the current dream is done and a new one would begin and we know that this is yet to happen as anu is still the dreamer in the games. as it stands right now talos is an over soul ( a combination of multiple souls representing aspects of specific concepts, like the aka over soul which is composed of akatusk- begining of time, akatosh-flow of time and alduin-end of time, in talos we have 3 seperate shezarines) that has achived chim (somethin that lorkhan was after) and is at the precipice of achiving amaranth and becoming the new man but isn't quite there yet.
46:27 - She is here because of Reyda, that hagraven you meet after you kill that poor family Altano told you to, the one who laughs at you for being cursed by Stendarr. After you deal with Altano and draco-Bal, you can go talk to her and kill her. If you do, the witch in Coldharbor will thank you for doing it. Also, turns out, you don't have to kill the family at all. Talk to them, go back to Altano, call him out on his BS, refuse to do his bidding, and kill him. Just be careful not to be hit by his Mace of Molag Bal, otherwise if he hits you once or twice, you automatically fall to the ground, and wake up after being possessed and killing the family while you were out. Once you kill him, his flesh suit is ripped apart, revealing the form he had when he "assaulted" Lamae. Avoid his hits too, smoke him, and boom, ritual interrupted without fighting Bal.
Also, alegedly, you don't have to kill the guy with the Red Stone in the eye, too. I guess the alternative solution is to kill Altano after the quest fails. Not sure, haven't tested that one yet.
29:38 - I'm not so sure about that one, chief. Talos had nothing to do with Alessian Empire, and the armor that ????? is wearing is called "Time-watcher" armor. This must be Akatosh. As for Unslaad, it was made before Vigilant (if I remember correctly), so the statue of Uliss' father would be likely just the case of reusing assets.
Also, this cutscene is quite different if you chosen bad option in Pelinal's memory. You're in the same corridor, but behind you is dead Molag in draconic form, and in front you is the guy in time watcher armor, and huge door is closed behind him, blocking your way from going forward with the cutscene. He then talks to you, says that you don't belong here and banishes you back to Coldharbour. Interestingly, judging from what he says, he's aware that this all of this is happening in the past (or memory), further hinting at the possibility of him being Akatosh.
The Witch in Coldharbour tells lore about Reyda the witch we encounter outside the hut after slaying the wife and child of mercenary we meet outside the Beacon Of Stendarr. I realized it very much later about her origin. The below is spoiler be warned: Reyda used to a normal alchemist and sister of Naarfi in Ivarstead where we get the quest about finding his sister and quest leads to skeleton body in water with her necklace [Skyrim Vanilla Quest]. She was killed and turned in a witch by Molag Bal. When she is confronted and defeated there is option of either spare her or kill her. IF you spare her and she will appear near the exit and tells DB that before leaving she will kill people of Ivarstead. Non-esstential NPC will be get killed like Kimmleck, the family of take cares of the farm, owner of lumber mill and the bard in the inn. The owner of Inn is essential I think, he qives Dragon Claw as payment to explore the dungeon near the town. Naarfi is spared her brother. I got a mod Obituary that alrerts NPC death, got notification about their death.

take these words as madness. dreughs are hermaphrodites. their ruler in the previous kalpa, Bal, was the god of love. after the fall of Lyg, Bal split in two: Molag and Mara, the r*per-king of domination, and the slave-queen of freedom. each part seeks redemption, or reunion? oh handmaiden of tears, why did you send Him? perhaps as prophet Engels said, a revolution is the most authoritarian thing. some impose their will upon the others by means of violence. "Let those that hear me then be buffeted, and let some die in the ash from the striking. Let those that find him find him murdered by illumination, pummeled like a traitorous house, because, if an hour is golden, then immortal I am a secret code." [31] if immortality is blasphemy, oh Arkay, son' of Mara, set my eyes into a fire prayer for the wicked, and stuff my mouth with owls. long live the modders! f*ck beth
Is this from a lore source and if yes which one? I knew this was a thing, but I like having sources for whatever I am saying, and this one escapes me, if it does indeed have one.
32:27 So...Why can a Minotaur chosen by the Amulet of Kings not claim the throne? The guy contradicted himself claiming that humans and elves are not dissimilar. What about Khajiit? Orcs?
I thought I played through Vigilant in full, did everything in Coldharbour, and got the True End, but I never encountered this epilogue. How do you initiate it?
The conversation between Pepe and Mary is basically lifted from Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, known as the Grand Inquisitor, so you’re certainly right that it is highly influenced by Christianity.
Would you say its worth picking up Glenmoril and Unslaad and playing them in their current states? Do either of them at least end at a decent stopping point?
I never explained this because it becomes more obvious with the other mods later on, but the dragonborn is anything but the good guy in all of this. They CAN be the good guy, but they are essentially a walking disaster along the way. The fact that they are part dragon guarantees only that they have a mind ready for violence like all other dragons. They have no second thoughts about killing Gods, honorable warriors or even another Shezzarine like Pelinel.
@@Easypickles I will look into it, there should be auto-generated ones too. If you cannot understand some stuff I am saying, would you say its the mic or the way I talk that is the issue?

"Let those that hear me then be buffeted, and let some die in the ash from the striking. Let those that find him find him murdered by illumination, pummeled like a traitorous house, because, if an hour is golden, then immortal I am a secret code." [31]
if immortality is blasphemy, oh Arkay, son' of Mara, set my eyes into a fire prayer for the wicked, and stuff my mouth with owls.
long live the modders! f*ck beth
Is this from a lore source and if yes which one? I knew this was a thing, but I like having sources for whatever I am saying, and this one escapes me, if it does indeed have one.
Vigilant, Glenmoril, and Unslaad are a big part of why i never finish a skyrim playthrough. XD i just keep wanting to play them over again.
Great work!
I played through the trilogy but I didn't get who the anatomancer is. Can anyone spoil me?
32:27 So...Why can a Minotaur chosen by the Amulet of Kings not claim the throne? The guy contradicted himself claiming that humans and elves are not dissimilar. What about Khajiit? Orcs?
Bro thank you for making these videos because I love skyrim mods stories butbdont have the means to play them or to watch a 50+ playlist
I never did the side quests for vigilant. Time to install Skyrim again.
Man, that's uncanny. You sound just like the voice of Belharza in my head
Are you going to make a video about being able to kill the Glenmoril witch that laughed at you for killing the mother and daughter someday?
I have to ask - Why Pelinal's Broken Sword of all things? Why not his not broken sword from Temple of the Divines in Solitude?
I thought I played through Vigilant in full, did everything in Coldharbour, and got the True End, but I never encountered this epilogue. How do you initiate it?
He was added in an update in 2021. Talk to the librarian in the Vigilant HQ after you are done with the story and that will initiate the Epilogue
Those minotaurs look fiiine 🤤
Cotho, you played the Republic of Maslea? I saw very interesting screenshots on the mod page 👀
The conversation between Pepe and Mary is basically lifted from Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, known as the Grand Inquisitor, so you’re certainly right that it is highly influenced by Christianity.
Awesome! My khajiit friend delivered again!
Would you say its worth picking up Glenmoril and Unslaad and playing them in their current states? Do either of them at least end at a decent stopping point?
Unslaad is over as far as main quest goes and Glenmoril ends in a pretty good point as well!
One thing I never understood about this mod was why everyone talks about the dragonborn's eyes looking cold. If anyone knows, let me know.
The wonderful destiny of the doom driven.@@cotho.
Suggestion, @@cotho.. Maybe consider adding English subtitles / captions to some of your recent videos, including this one?
Hope to hear from you.
@@Easypickles I will look into it, there should be auto-generated ones too. If you cannot understand some stuff I am saying, would you say its the mic or the way I talk that is the issue?
Ive been meaning to play this Mod for a while but i have to ask, whats unfinished about Vigilant?
The voice acting , other than that its sequel mod Glenmoril isn't finished yet. The sequel to both of them, Unslaad, is however.
@@ballisticwafflesSo timeline-wise I would have to play Vigilant, Glenmoril, and Unslaad?
@@thatguywiththeguitar7203personally I play glenmoril, vigilant, then unslaad. But unslaad is def the last one to play
Soo.... does the ending of Vigilant affect Glemoril in any way? Like would certain dialogue or things change depending on if Molag Bal managed to kill Stendarr and take his plane, or if he didn't?
the canon ending in the good ending.
HYPE HYPE HYPE
I await the day the trilogy is finished
Sorry bro that VA had me clicking that dislike button so many times it somehow turned into a like button
