I had my ACL replaced in 2000 and I wont ever forget how the small, simple, fundamental movements were so important , (and humbling),during rehab. Just had TKR 5 days ago and this is definitely a much harder recovery. These movements and exercises, I find, are so so important and make alot of difference, (so far). Thank you again for a great concise video LOADED with great info.
Thanks for watching this one! I couldn’t agree with you any more! I see rehab as a stepping stone to help you get where you ultimately want to be! It takes hard work and effort but the reward is totally worth it! Thank you for your kind comments and support! Wishing you the best of luck in your recent knee replacement!

@@MovewithDrMikeDr Mike I am 7weeks PO and I find had after any knee bend exercises I experience tightness at the back of my thighs. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated
Knee slide never worked for me, post op 10 weeks now and what helped was leg on a ball and the down pulling that you showed, plus just rolling the knee back and forth on the ball. As well as slow circles or getting to that on a bike. Stiffness has improved, it’s not every day some days are worse than others, but it got me from a 90° bend to 110 in a matter of a couple weeks.
12 weeks out from TKR. Have some stiffness. Your right with the soft tissue pulling towards your body definately helps. PT was great for me. My PT worked me pretty good. I am able to walk on my own finally. Stationary Bike is absolutely great for this knee. Knee bends do help as well. My ROM is getting back to normal. Sure, it hurts but, in the long run it will help. Deal with the discomfort & by next year will be great!! Positive, Mental Attitude is what is getting me through all of this. But, able to do things myself is amazing again. Ice does help for the ache. Enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing.

Had total knee replacement in February, but even after 20 physio,I still couldn't bend my knee, had 6 oxygen and ozone injections around scars. I have a little less pain but still stiff, and can't bend. Edit: I've had 10 fascial manipulation, it's been a God send, After the second/third I no longer have pain when I walk, I am slowly bending my knee better. I would advised anyone Who still has problems to try It. I feel so much better
Thanks for stopping by to watch! There are some massage techniques that you can use to help improve the mobility of the fascia and connective tissue around the knee! Check out this video here where I go over how to perform them: th-cam.com/video/JfNCqbzXrPs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QY1iBzYLe8l-uHYf
I have had three different sets of knee replacements on each leg with each doctor saying the last doctor measured wrong. This has transpired in fourteen years. I was thirty-eight when the first surgery and for nine years it was pure hell with the buckling of the knee at any given time. The second set of total knee replacements was in 2019 so those did not last long with the new doctor telling me the last doctor measured wrong so here we go again with the third set in November of 2023 and six months later the other leg which I am recovering from right now which was replaced in June of 2024. I am not doing this again I have done it so many times my range comes back on its own without therapy and my legs were naturally strong so I didn't even do therapy because all they came to do was milk the insurance company. I never used a walker or a cane I just muscled through it. I know time is the only healer for me at this point. I am only fifty-two I am not trying to do this again ever after six times.

Hello Se Mike I realy enjoy your videos. I am 7months PO anf i find that every time I attempt to perform any knee bend exercises I feel tightness at the back of my thighs like a pull. Please any advice as to what can I do. Thank you
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this one! This is definitely not abnormal and in fact when you’re working on knee bending exercises sometimes it’s easy for people to overcompensate by using their hamstring muscles too much. This can be a cause of developing more tightness behind the knee. My best recommendation is to continue stretching the knee with both bending and straightening exercises to address all range of motion and stiffness of the knee! Hope that helps!
would it not be better if you put the yoga strap around the ball of your foot and pull it in toward you as you dont have much leverage near the joint as you prescribe? I'm 2 weeks post op (partial inner ZUK replacement)
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to ask this question! Great question. The strap is placed at the top below the knee cap to help specifically facilitate a posterior glide of the tibia on the femur. This is considered a gentle joint mobilization that many people can do on them selves. This technique is designed to help improve knee arthrokinematics with knee flexion (bending) further improving your range of motion.
I wish I had this info at least a month ago!!! The 27th of June is my 3 month mark and I'm still not where I want my bending to be. I'm at around 110° but I want to fo further
Congratulations on your recent surgery! I’m glad you found this video and I hope you still get a chance to implement these exercises because they still can be helpful for you! Wishing you the best! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment here! Post-operative pain can be controlled effectively with elevation, ice, gentle massage, limiting overactivity, daily ROM exercises, and establishing effective pain medication regimen recommended by your surgeon. Also every situation is a bit different but traveling on a long flight only after 12 weeks could be too soon and might cause more pain due to the amount of sitting you’ll have to endure. Hope that helps!
The only issue with pain management is my surgeon hasn’t provided or prescribed any strong medication except cocodomole…. I m having issues with insomnia but helpless
