    These Letterman Goes Door-to-Door bits were just about the funniest things I ever saw on TV, before or since---thanks for uploading! (Also, I don't know if it's on this channel, but anyone who hasn't seen Dave going door-to-door in a New Jersey neighborhood with
    Zsa Zsa Gabor owes it to themselves to find and watch it.)

    Exactly what happened to David Letterman? I saw his very first show, and for like, 15 years he was the most original person I'd ever seen on TV. But was it when he changed net works, that I guess he couldn't bring any of his old material with him? For his last 15 years, he was about as funny as Fred Rogers. I don't understand why, when he changed networks, he didn't just make up new bits compareable to Larry Bud Melman, Brother Theodore, throwing things off of 4-story buildings, crushing things in some type of recycling plant, Stupid Human Tricks, Stupid Pet Tricks, etc.
    Maybe I missed something: maybe he was on more than 2 networks. His last 15 years was just too loud, too illuminated, too corny, and too "Hollywood," even though it all took place in a New York studio. It was almost like he was pouting because Jay Leno got Johnny Carson's job and not him. It appeared that he intentionally tried to become bland in his last 15 years.

    • @SallySallySallySally
      @SallySallySallySally 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone noticed that. When his show changed networks and was shifted to an earlier time slot, the bookings became identical to other shows and consisted of mostly people plugging something (show, book, etc.) The days of the guest being the joke were gone. Plus, some of the bits were considered "intellectual property" by NBC and couldn't be easily replicated. His show was still entertaining, for sure, but the tenor of the show definitely changed when he went to CBS.

    • @MiesAnthrophy
      @MiesAnthrophy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He had nothing to lose at 12:30 'cause those GE Pinheads just didn't care. But when he moved to 11:30, then he had to compete against the Big Chin and I guess the expression 'watered down' applies on how his move to CBS turned out.

    • @bobbowie9350
      @bobbowie9350 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      11:30 is a different audience. Look at Conan when he changed times.

    • @Cantbuyathrill

      NBC has always been a nest of backstabbing executive reptiles, while CBS don't know funny if it hit them in the groin with a bat. (For God's sake! Do you people know what CBS has had on for Saturday nights for years now? Some Howdy-doody/Don Knotts look-a-like minister pontifcating from a pulpit.
