Thorough, fair review - thanks Arlo. Different strokes etc. but for me, an LG smart TV with Freesat, a few subs (Netflix and Amazon Prime) and a Humax box provides more viewing choices than I realistically need.
Yeah, as I said to Seb below, it's a fine line between Sky and Freesat / Freeview. For me, they just fall a little bit short. I couldn't live without Sky F1 for example. Or Nat Geo, or Discovery. And Sky Atlantic has some great stuff these days.
Update - Arlo, thanks for your review, it made me think very hard about Sky Q vs Glass, I went for the latter. It was because the veiwing habits of my family suit access via streaming. My old Sky+HD was clogged up with unwatched episodes, scattered everywhere, with identical episodes recorded at the same time or on +1, or programmes we'd never intended to record. Deleting the harddrive became a spare time hobby that consumed more time than watching the content. Anyhow upgrading from a 1080P HD TV and HD+ box is going back two generations, so Glass has proved to be a good upgrade. However, my heartbreak will occur when my multiple episodes of Floyd on Italy/France/Spain disappear, I hope Glass revives these golden era of TV episodes - Sky? Are you listening?
I know what you mean about deleting old shows on Sky Q. It would be so much better if they had a way you could set how long to keep a recording (so for example, delete a news programme after 24 hours).
I have this with the 65", wall mounted (Which was a nightmare to do).... I just wish you could adjust the home page to your own preferences/layout tbh ... Although I have noticed some updates over the past few weeks and it seems to be getting smoother. The audio for me is really good, and the apps section good too, as I watch a lot of you tube etc etc
Hi we have a 50" tv and that was hernia-inducing enough. I can only imagine your pain mounting a 65" slab. I am beginning to think it would be easier to build a new wall brick-by-brick up to a scaffold-supported tv (lowered in by crane) than mount to an existing wall. Get better soon! I hope to :)
@@sebxiou-lifestyle4465 Yeh mate, it wasn't easy, mostly because it stands off the wall my a few millimetres, no room for adjustment, you have to get that very shallow wall bracket bang on ! ... but me and my brother sorted it ;-)
@@troyboy4345 Hi. Brill - I'll know who to call when my tv disintegrates after I've thrown something at it in anger - which I almost do monthly! Actually, we used a swivelling pantograph bracket which comes a good-distance from the wall, so we can view the tv from different angles - meaning we had quite some room between tv and wall to manipulate the job. I shall now remember not to use a close wall-bracket - thanks. All the best.
Great review. I just got Sky Q a few weeks back after storm Arwen messed up the old dish. I thought for a moment I’d missed a trick with Glass but agree with you about the downsides so I’ll stick with Q for now. BTW - have you no bed to go to filming in the middle of the night! 😂😂
Hi Norman. Thanks. LOL about filming in the middle of the night. The problem was continuity. I started late afternoon, got a load of it done, then had some technical issues. I either had to keep filming till I finished, or reshoot the whole lot. I decided to work late!
Good review, but you failed to mention the superb sound, fantastic! using Dolby Atmos. 5.1. The Picture is fab, if you have a 4K source. There are issues, freezing, lag is a bit of an issue!? Its new so you expect a few teething problems. Over all I am pretty Happy. :) Its way cheaper than Virgin still, and I get a decent TV, I was paying nearly £100 a month with Virgin, for broadband, admittedly faster, and a basic TV package. I have a TV and 59mbs for £60!, I am not a gamer, so I don`t need more than 60mbs.
Not sure I quite understand. But they didn't tell me the limits before I ordered. As for price, Samsung does a 65 inch TV for less. That said, you do get a sound bar thrown in.
Ha, charming. I didn't say it was the same as record. I said I thought it was meant to "mirror the experience of recording". In other words, provide a way of watching stuff after broadcast. Reliably. Which, er, this doesn't.
Not a patch on Sky Q
One of the best reviews I’ve ever watched, thanks!
Thank you very much, that's very high praise!!
@@arlo.guthrie It’s well deserved, your style is inspirational, and I’m rather smitten by the one box solution of Sky Glass!
we've had Sky Glass TV for a couple months now, coming from a 4k oled LG TV. I'm more than happy with the Glass TV. Very impressed
You obviously like wasting money.
Great review I think I'll keep my sky q might take another look at sky glass in a few years time

Well done Arlo. You’re getting the hang of this. Want some help with vet toys?!!
Thanks Carl. And yes, certainly!

Always enjoy your videos even if some aren’t as relevant to me an American, I also enjoy your British wit
Thank you! I’ll try and do more stuff you can buy in the US

Yeah, I agree, it would be so much better if you could display what you want on the home page.

The thick joke was very good sir I enjoyed that
This is a great review.
Thank you!

Thanks Arlo, brilliant review as always. just saved me giving sky even more of my money.
Glad to be of service, Simon!
Thane, Thane, I luv it, I wanna watch more/Can you tell me which channel number it's on?

But I did mention the sound! I said the sound is probably better than anything else you’ll find built into a TV.
Why did u have it then they tell u the limits before u order they told me everything I'm not made of money so I think its a good way to get a 4k TV

Good if you renting a house/flat and may move frequently…..
My dish is on my wall no roof
I only found 4 music channels on it !! So disappointed 🎸 plus I didn’t see ye old radio stations
Sky glass in my opinion not well thought out sky q is well better I understand if you can’t have a dish
I always record on sky Q SO WONT GET SKY GLASS THINKING ABOUT DITCHING SKY IN AUGUST
I always delete shite channels so if i do channel hopping i keep it to a minimum.
I happen to like God Tv
If you thought playlist was the same as record then I'm not sure why your on here reviewing anything.

No
Well, I know social media likes to condense an argument ... but
The history of Sky has nothing to do with Sky Glass. You have just waisted my time.
I am so sorry, will you ever forgive me?
@@arlo.guthrie You monster! 🤣🤣🤣❤
It has . BSB was the child . Sky Glass is meant to be the fully grown adult
