Hi again, that's a fun one to make, takes a little time but is worth it. They look great in the yard and make a one of a kink gift. Have you checked out the hanging Terrarium with the solar light in it?? If you want to see some of the larger projects I did last year, check out the video on how to make the Leaded Glass Clack, you can fast forward to the end and check them out. I forgot to tell you I also am a FORD guy, had a 1954 Ford Mainliner 2 door with a 330 CI Y Block, TriPower induction, Clay Smith Cam, Headman headers, Borg Warner T-10 4speed, 411 rear end gears. WOW that brings back great old times!! Have a great day. Regards, Bill Stone
Nice work, if I can make it larger I can even grow veggies in it. I’m in Turkey & stocks are limited ☹️. Thanks for sharing. Made your 6 panel wind spinner (sort of ☹️) but needed a motor, disco ball motor, but too slow.
Hi again, nice to hear from you again!! Yes, you can make these any size you want, I would put a gusset into the corners on the sides as well as the one I put in the top of the project to help make it stronger if you make it larger. On your other question about using copper wire to help reinforce your project you can give it a try; you don't have to tin it. It well solder just fine as is. Can you purchase items from Amazon?? They carry all kinds of stained glass supplies. Best of luck on your projects. So glad you're enjoying the videos. Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Patti, I think you could use Hobby Came on the edges of this project if you used a solid one piece for the sides. That would make the sides stronger. I would also put the triangles in both sides and top to help with strength of the project. Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you will give it a try!! Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Sheila, Thanks for your comment. The solder I use for all of these leaded glass and copper foil projects is from Amerway Inc. and is 60/40 solder. 60% Tin and 40% lead. When you get some time check out my video, Up Date Stain Glass Terrarium and you can see some modifications I have made to that project. It's a short one and shows how well the plants have grown. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Talking about the grains of glass; when you do a project, like the hummingbird, with centric circles, you could purposely rotate the grains to give a sunburst effect. I'm thinking about the iridescent wavy glass you used in the center ring. I never paid much attention to the grains but I think it could add some beautiful detailing that would make a huge difference. Am I being inexperienced by thinking this way? As in, people who have been involved with the craft recognize the grains all going in one direction as better craftsmanship or is paying attention to the grains in general enough?
Hi Felicity, Most all the glass has a grain or pattern to it, there are some that it doesn't matter which way they go. I always try to keep the pattern going in the same direction if possible. Sometimes if your limited on how much glass you have this becomes impossible to do. I have been at the glass supplier before and watch people pull out several large sheets of glass and check out the pattern on them, sometimes turning them from side to side to see how they look in the light. Sometimes they will buy a large sheet to just to get one area they like. Most of the Glass Artist that do that are working on very large and high-end projects. You are right in saying you can get special effects by turning the glass to get a different effect to your project. Most people that buy these small projects we are making in these videos don't care if the glass is going all in one direction, they buy them because they like the Artistic value in the project. Thanks for watching the video. Regards, Bill Stone
@@billstonesstainedglasscrea3310 thank you for taking the time to respond to me. I'm so glad I found your videos, I'm a little addicted to them now. You make it look so simple, which I know is experience, and explain everything so clearly without sounding redundant or muddling up the directions. I appreciate you sharing your artistry with us and look forward to seeing your next project❣
Hi again, Yes, it can become addicting! I have always liked how all the different colored glass looks in these projects. I used to set in church and look at how their leaded glass windows were put together. I also really like the Frank Lloyd Wright style windows. So glad you found my channel also, this not only a great hobby but you can make some money while you're having fun with it. Thanks for watching and I look forward to hearing from you in the future! Hi Karen, I think you need to leave some drain openings, so the plants don't get over watered. If you look at most potting pots, they all have drain holed in them. I put potting soil in the area to be planted, then put the plants into the soil. The succulents I use don't take much water and I just give them a little water once a week with a spray bottle. I don't know if that's the right way to do that, but the plants are growing great!! Thanks for your comment, sorry I couldn't give you a better answer. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone PS: To answer your question, if you want it to hold water just solder up the inside of your project.
Hi Karen, The addition of glazing putty to the project would make it stronger and there is enough room to push the putty in between the came and glass. It's funny you were to ask about this project, I'm just getting ready to post an update on how the plants are doing and also show some modification I have made to it to give is some more strength. I made these changes to the project because the two top sides of the project started to bend inward and didn't look very good. Keep an eye open for that one, should have it done in a couple days and posted on my channel. Thanks for your comment, nice to hear from you again!! Regards, Bill Stone
@@billstonesstainedglasscrea3310 I can't tell you how much your videos have helped me. I am just getting started and will be ready to start making projects sometime this week. I made some patterns, and I am still purchasing all the equipment and supplies. I already made a couple jigs, and glass rack from wood I had in my shop, I do not have any 2x4s and will purchase a 6x6 post to make the spinner jig. I want to thank you for posting and sharing your talent and experience with everyone.
Hi Karen, Sounds like you have a plan, the spinner jig would be better if you made it out of a 4"x4"post. The 6"x"6 post would be a little big for the spinners. Also check out the newest video it shows the updates I made to this project. Thanks for your comment, have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone

Should I get tinned the wire before hand or just solder it as I go, you think ?
This was terrific! Do you think hobby U came would work for the outside edges?

Want to do some larger projects with copper foil but no re-strip for reinforcing ☹️
Do you need to use lead free solder.

Gonna try it with 1,5 mm electricity wire 😂😂
If live plants are placed, and need watering, to eliminate the water leaking out, should the entire inside be soldered?

If I were to glaze these projects, would the 3/16 Channel be wide enough to accept the putty? I want to add extra strength to the projects.
