My videos show how to make stained glass projects. The videos are easy to follow and show how to make the complete projects.
A Blast From The Past!!
This video shows you some leaded stained-glass windows I made almost 50 years ago!! They were recovered by my daughter from our home in Walnut, CA where we lived at the time they were made. These are some of my very first leaded glass projects. I had an old Fletcher glass cutter, 120 watt soldering iron my dad gave to me, a pair of grossing pliers, came knife and a hand full of horseshoes nails when I started.

I wish I could take lessons from you in person. You are a wealth of knowledge! Thank you for taking the time to teach us on line.
what size are the panels
The 3 dichroic and 4 noodles are my favorite 😍 ❤ Thank you for sharing
Hi again Bill, Well, I can't explain just how nervous I have been to try this - It is my first leadlight project (in the past I have only used foil). The project went really well. I am thrilled with the outcome. My only surprise was that the weight of the lead made it difficult for the wind to blow the individual circles around - even though they spin easily if I give them a nudge. Again thank you for your great video and wonderful design
Hi Peter, I don't know how you can attach a proto on this type of a reply, I will give you an email address I use to get photos on for my TH-cam video projects. Please feel free to send your photo's to tworollingstones1962@yahoo.com I will be more than happy to look them over and give you a reply. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
I love them all. But the frit one is my favorite. I noticed you use a single layer of glass< I like how you talk about how much they shrink when you use one layer. Thank you for showing how you do this.
Hi Judith, Thanks for your king words, it's been fun sharing these projects with others. When you have time check out the video, WE HAVE A WINNER!! and see which candy dish won the voting. Years ago, I worked with someone named Tom McFadden who lived in Pasadena, CA. I know there are lots of McFadden's around the world, but I told my wife wouldn't it be funny if you were related somehow. Again, thanks for your comment and I hope you will check out some of my other videos. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
How do you make the paper clip clamps
Hi Bill, Thanks for your question on the paper clip clamps. They are made using a standard 1 1/4" paper clip. In the center there is a lip that is bent over between where the metal finger livers are hooked to the paper clip. I just take a pair of flat noise pliers and bend it to a 90-degree angle and then I take a pair of long noise pliers and bend it on over to make small fingers on both sides of the paper clip. When you open the paper clip you can put these small fingers between the glass and the lead came to bring them together. I hope that makes sense to you!! If not send me another reply and I will try to give you a better answer. I have had several subscribers' ask about these clips, maybe I should do a short video on how to make them!! Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Very good talent ❤

Beautiful! I'm a beginner and really don't know alot about any of it. Right now I'm just doing copper foil. Do you think a copper foil spinner of this size would work? I'm afraid the wind might be too much for it. I appreciate your time.
Hi Jeff, Yes, you can make this spinner with copper foil. There are several videos on TH-cam with people making spinners with copper foil. I like using lead came only because I like the way it looks, and I find it to be easier to work with than copper foil. If I was to make one with copper foil, I would still go around the outer edges with my U came to finish off the project. That way I could still use my cotter pin hanger idea. If you do make one with the copper foil, putting the hanger onto it may be the weak link to your project. Let me know what you come up with and welcome to my channel. Please feel free to ask me anything about any of these video projects. If you have some time, check out my very first video, Leaded Glass Solar Lantern for Beginners, it talks all about everything you need to do leaded glass projects. Again, thanks for your comment and have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
@@billstonesstainedglasscrea3310 Thanks for the info and the quick response. I'll keep on watching and thanks for the great videos.
Hi Jeff, If you like copper foil, there are 3 other videos projects on my channel. They are all solar lanterns and are made with copper foil and lead came. Check them out when you have time. Two of them have flowers in them and the other one has sea glass in it. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
they are all beautiful,though i am loving the pink.of course,pink glass ain't cheap,lol

That great craftsmanship held up Dad!! So thankful to have them back in the family! Love you!! ❤
Hi Lauren, Thanks to your mom for saving them!!! I was so surprised to see them again. I hope everything is going great for you at school. Love Pop-Pop
Can you make that cross with copper foil 😊
Hi Tom, Thanks for your comment, yes you can make this with copper foil. I would run some re-strip down the long part of the cross to make it stronger and keep it from being prone to bending. The bevels are a little tricky to wrap in copper foil, take your time to get the copper foil centered on the edge. I would also wrap the outside edges with lead U Came for additional strength. I hope that helps you out. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Bill, Thank you so much for your helpful videos. I have watched them over and over. Finally I have received my piano wire, brass tube and collars so am ready to start. All my efforts to date have been with copper foil so I am anxious to try lead. I was planning to start the vertical spinning lollypop but have decided on the Circle of colours. One question - I note that you don't show/talk about cementing the glass at the end of either of these two projects. Is this correct? I don't need to cement the glass into the lead or have I missed something? This is such a wonderful-looking spinner - Thanks for allowing everyone 9o use the pattern.
Hi Peter, Thanks for your comment, no you didn't miss anything regarding using glazing putty in these small leaded glass projects. I don't use glazing putty in projects smaller than 1 1/2' square projects or any type of window panel that is going on the outside and needs to be waterproofed. If you want to glaze them it makes them stronger and if there are any pieces of glass that's a little small and are rattling back and forth in the lead channel the glazing putty will stop that. Best of luck on your project, take your time and I'm sure it will come out great!! Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Really nice Bill, thanks for sharing.
Hi Ryan, Thanks for your comment, nice to hear from you again. How's your solar lantern project going?? I was so surprised to see these window panels after all those years. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone

I am searching for these round diamond tip drill bits and cannot find a large set like you have, for dremel. Thank you
Hi Connie, Thanks for your comment. I get these drills from Amazon, here's the info on them. Jingling Diamond Grinding Bits, 3MM Spherical Head with 1/8" shank for Dremel. Box of 30 for $11.99 Hopefully that will help you find these bits. As I said in the video, some of these last for a long time and others have a short life. I think it's because some of them don't have enough diamond dust on them. I don't know anything about the Walmart bits. Sorry I can't give you a better answer on that question. Have a great day. Regards, Bill Stone
I will check it out and compare. Think they just might be If they do the job then the price is right. Thank you again @billstonesstainedglasscrea3310

When you are cutting the pieces for the panels i.e. the 1x2, 3/4 x2 and 1/2 x2 are you allowing for the gap on your cutter?
Hi Rayn, Thanks so much for your comment, I took a look at the video and around the 10:04 mark I address the problem of the glass and lead came making the project grow a little. This is one of my videos I call cut and stack, and I don't really care if it grows a little. The drawing at the start of the video shows you the minimum size of the panel, if it grows a little you don't care, you just don't want it to come out smaller because the solar light won't fit. You are right in asking about the amount it grows because of the cutter and the lead came. The U came adds about 1/16" to the panel on both sides and the H Came adds about1/32" each time you put it between the glass. This was my very first You Tube video and see where I left some things too chance, hopefully my newer ones have improved!! So, with that in mind if you wanted to make it exact all your glass would be cut using a ruler that is about 1/16" small than the finished cut size. Example a 1" piece of glass would use a 15/16" ruler plus the 1/16" the cutter would add to it to come out with a piece exactly 1" wide. I hope that makes sense to you!! Where you have to be really carful when cutting your glass is when it has to fit into something that is already made, like a window panel that needs to fit into a give space. All the projects in my channel don't have to fit into anything so if they grow a little it's fine. Hope that info was helpful and good luck on your projects. Please feel free to as me anything about these projects!! Have a great day. Regards, Bill Stone PS: They do make what they call pattern shears for both lead came and copper foil projects. These shears cut out a small strip from your pattern paper to allow for the lead came or copper foil.
Thank you Bill for the fast response, that answered my question perfectly, I knew that ruler wasn’t 1 inch wide, I focused on that hard. Beautiful work sir!!
Hi Ryan, Your more than welcome, please feel free to ask me anything about these projects. When you have time check out my newest video, it's about some window panels I made almost 50 years ago!! Enjoy your day. Regards, Bill Stone
I have been enjoying your videos using lead came. I haven't heard you mention this so I'm wondering, do you stretch your came before using it in your projects? Thanks and keep on giving us good advice.
Hi, Thanks for your comment. Yes, I do stretch the lead came for all these projects, it makes it stronger and keeps it straight and easer to cut. My very first video Leaded Glass Solar Lantern for Beginners!!! I go over how to stretch the came using a lead came vice and all the tools needed to do leaded glass projects. So glad you found my channel, it's been fun sharing these projects with others. Please feel free to ask me anything about my video projects. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
What sized Brass tubing do you use?
Hi, Thanks for your comment. The brass tubing is 1/8" OD and 3/32" ID. The music wire is 3/32". The set collars are 3/32" to fit on the wire. Thats the same wire and brass tubing used on all the spinners that are made this way. These supplies are from a hobby store that sells R/C Cars, R/C planes and R/C boats. You can also find them on Amazon and E-Bay. Again, thanks for your comment and please feel free to ask me anything about these projects. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Do you have a pattern for the jig, for hexagon solar lantern? I'm working on all the pieces now.
Hi Craig, I'm so sorry, but I don't have a pattern for any of these jigs used in my video projects. The one for this project is two 30-degree tringles put end to end forming the jig to hold the panels on a 30-degree angle when you solder them together. If you don't want to make this jig you can use your 30/60-degree tringle and block up the outer edges of your panels, making them come together to make the V grove in the center, to solder them together. I hope that makes sense to you. Thanks for your comment and please feel free to ask me anything about these projects. Let me know how you make out with your project. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
@@billstonesstainedglasscrea3310 Thanks Bill. I'll figure it out... that's part of the fun!
Hi Craig, Your wright, it's fun figuring out how to make jigs to make putting these projects together. Most of the time I will make a project, then put it together. When I'm doing that, I think how could I make something that would make it easier to put together next time. Before you know it you have a whole draw full of different jigs for different projects. Hopefully you got it worked out. Regards, Bill Stone
What is a lacet thinner please? Thanks
Hi Evelyne, Thanks so much for your comment, Lacquer Thinner is used to thin Lacquer base paint. It is also used to clean parts and works great to get the edges of your class clean after grinding them to fit in your projects. I use it to clean the edges of my glass when doing copper foil projects, it helps the foil stick to the glass. It dries super-fast and is non oily. Again, thanks for your comment, please feel free to ask me anything about these video projects. Have a great day!! You can get Lacquer Thinner at Hardware Stores, Paint Stores and several other supply houses. Regards, Bill Stone
Great job, Charlotte!!

@@billstonesstainedglasscrea3310 I hope mine is half as nice.
Hi Lila, Just take your time, make a good form to make it in. If you don't have any small wood for the form, pick up some wooden paint stirrers or an old fashion wooden yard stick and cut it down to the size you need. You can also pick up some clear window glass to practice cutting on, before you cut your good glass for the project. I'm sure you will get it worked out. Also, take some small pieces of you lead came and practice soldering before you solder your project. Let me know how you're coming along. If you have trouble send me a comment and I will see if I can help you out. Best of luck!! Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
I missed something or just misunderstood... I'm ordering supplies and want to ask what size H came I need for this project. This will be my first try. Love your videos! Thank you!
Hi Lila, Thanks for your comment, this is a great project to get started with. I took a look at the video and found at the 30-minute mark we talk about the H Came. Here is the size of the U Came and H Came used on this project. U Came RU-70 face width 5/32" and channel width 3/16" H Came HR-9 face width 5/32" and channel width 3/16" Both of these Cames are made by Cascade Metals. Check out their web page and get a chart on all the different sizes of lead came. Any Came that is close to these sizes will work for you. I don't know where you're getting your supplies, either online or at a glass supply store, they should be able to help you out. If you're buying them online you can check out Amazon, Delphi Glass, E-Bay and Sun and Moon glass supplies for a starter. Another Came that works great is HR-8 face width 5/32" and channel width 5/32". Before you start your project, check out my video, Leaded Glass Solar Lantern for Beginners. It's my first video and shows you all the tools and how to use them. Best of luck on your project and please feel free to ask me anything about any of these projects. Let me know how you do!! Going through some videos quickly I came upon yours and was very impressed with the results of the patina as compared to some people who are using a black goopy grout that gives a very uneven finish. Could you apply the Pantene with cotton balls so that you're not breathing it ? I have never worked with stained glass before I'm looking forward to watching all of your videos.
Hi Leas, Nice to hear from you again, the black goopy grout you see people using is to glaze the windows. It's called glazing putty. The Patina is a different product and is used to turn the lead black. You can use all types of things to put it on your projects. Cotton Balls work just fine. I use a tinning brush, like the one you use to put flux on the lead joints before you solder them. Always use gloves when putting on Patina. I have never been to concerned about breathing it. You're not right close to it when you're putting it on your project. If you're worried about you can set up a small fan or wear a mask when you are using it. I hope that helps you out. Thanks for your comment!! Regards, Bill Stone
Just quickly looking through some of your videos I'm going to assume this is the one that you recommended that I watch. About your hanger system.

why do you have to add re-strip to the leaded came? Wouldn't it be strong enough by itself? I'm new to the leaded came technique fyi...
Hi, Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video project. I add the re-strip to the lead came because it's prone to bend just under the cross bar on the cross, if it's picked up by the small part of the cross. If it is handled by the upper part of the cross you can get away without the re-strip. Hope that helps you out. Have a great day and thanks for your comment!! Regards, Bill Stone
Bill- I'm looking forward to making a solar lantern, but don't know where to buy the little solar lights. Can you tell me where you found them?
Hi Craige, So glad you are going to make one of my video projects. There are several to pick from. The solar lights are the tops off the garden path lights you put in your yard. The ones I like are from Amazon, sold by Maggift Solar Pathway Lights and come 12 to a box for right $25.00. I have used them in almost all the solar lanterns I have made on my channel. If your new to stained glass, check out my very first solar lantern video, called Leaded Glass Solar Lantern for Beginners!! It has a lot of ideas and talks about lead came and tools need to make these projects. Best of luck on your project and let me know how you make out. Please feel free to ask me anything about these video project. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone PS: I was in the Dollar Tree Store the other day and they had solar lights for $1.25 each. I don't know how bright they are and how long they will last. Check them out if you have a Dollar store close to where you live.
Hi Bill, I have now watched your Verticle spinner video at least 10 times and am very keen to give it a try. I love the final product; your instructions are clear and easy to understand. Any failure will clearly be in the application at this end. Two questions for you (I am having some challenges finding the suggested materials - 1.Your thought - would copper tubing (3mm) work just as well as the brass down the middle of the spinner? I realize that it will be more expensive. and 2. Do you think that I could use braided picture wire - 1.8mm as a substitute for the piano wire? I am sure that I can find set collars to fit what ever wire is used. Looking forward to reviewing more of your videos and trying the projects - Thank you again.
Hi Peter, So glad you are enjoying the video projects. The copper tubing won't work to good as it doesn't have as good a bearing surface as the brass tubing. The breaded wire also wouldn't work as you need the wire to be as stiff as possible to get the circles to turn freely on the brass tubing. I don't know where you live, but these items are all available from Amazon. They are also found at Hobby Stores that sell radio-controlled cars, boats and planes. Both the music wire and brass tubing are made by K&S Precision Metals. The collars are made by DuBro Products. You can also get them on Amazon and at Hobby Stores. Let me know what you can come up with and hopefully you can get started on your project. Please feel free to ask any questions about any of these video projects, it's been fun to share my projects with others. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Bill, thankyou for your very prompt response and the great advice. I live in North Queensland, in a small country town with limited supplies. I will be in touch with them for more details ( they advertise the brass tube but only in 12" lengths). Hopeing that I can get all that is needed for both the vertical lollypop spinner and the 6 blades suncatcher (love them both). I have assumed that you are happy for your design to be used by others. Again my thanks, I look forward to working through all of you videos , they are a great resource for us beginners 😅. 😊 Peter R
Hi Peter, So glad that the info I sent you was helpful, hopefully you can find it in 36" lengths. If not cut down the sizes of the circles and maybe just make it have two circles instead of the three in the video. The bull's-eye spinner has only two circles in it in the center and I think the outside circle is about 9" in diameter. The 12" x1/8" brass tubing would work great for that one. The 3/32" music wire would also work for the wire part of the project. Best of luck with your project. Have a great day!! I have another subscriber from Australia, she lives in the rural south part about 6 hours from the city of Adelaide, Australia. If you read some of her comments, you can see that she has the same problem as you do trying to get supplies. Regards, Bill Stone
What size (and brand if possible) ball bearing swivel do you use? Thank you.
Hi Brenda, Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video. The Ball Bearing swivels I use are a #6 and there are several people selling them on Amazon. I usually look to see who has the best buy, and that's the one I purchase. Just type in the search bar on Amazon #6 ball bearing swivels and they will all come up for you. Hope that helps you out. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Second one is my favorite ❤
Hi, Thanks for your comment. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Beautiful! What is the firing schedule? What is the name of your kiln?
Hi, Thanks for your kind words, so glad you enjoyed the video project. If you will check out my video, WE HAVE A WINNER you will see which candy dish won the voting. Also, at the end of that video there is a firing schedule I used for my kiln. It also tells the name of the kiln I have. Again, thanks for your comment. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
A very nicely done tutorial for a lovely design.

Se puede traducir a español?
Hi, I'm not sure how to do that, I think there is a way on TH-cam to translate these videos to any language. Good luck and hope you are able to work it out!! Regards, Bill Stone
