"Go crazy with that one piece of equipment" - great advice. Back in the day, a home studio would probably only have a single sampler and a couple of synths and one or two FX units. There was no choice but to learn it inside out and use it as fully as possible. That got results as it was like learning to play an instrument. Now, a lot of people buy endless amounts of plugins that they only scratch the surface with on their way to the next plugin that will get them the "perfect sound"....

This is facts. I caught myself doing that early on in my beat making, then it just got exhausting and I got tired of getting new plugins. At some point you have to put in work to create a different sound anyway.

I was sceptical of the Keys when it was leaked but on actually seeing and hearing it I've been won over. Once this reaches my local music store I'll definitely try before I buy and I know I'm gonna buy. Big respect to Scott Storch one of my favorite musician/producers for endorsing this and to Akai for this product.

This was very smart of Akai, no one really owns the keyboard workstation market but with this I think they do. I just purchased one of two left at my local guitar center, picking it up tomorrow.

As soon as I saw the MPC61 announcement, I JUMPED on ordering one. I knew Akai was about it and it such a great sounding instrument, plus the workflow, design, it's big enough for me to feel comfortable but still small enough to feel comfortable carrying around. This machine does everything I want and in an intuitive way, I never have to fight it, it just simply works as an extension of myself even though I'm not very familiar with MPCs. It's the new crown of my studio.
I could watch Mr. Scott storch play the keyboard all day. This dude is a master 💯

I just got the MPC Live 2 Gold Edition today, but I am still looking forward to soon adding this to my home studio, hopefully as an 88-key version if planned for production. Great job Akai!!!

@@SonicVibe If that was meant for me, I actually have two separate studio setups, one focused on DAW workflow where I would be using the lovely Akai Key 61 or 88 as a standalone / controller and the other focused on pure standalone where I use all of my samplers and standalone workstations... now including the Akai MPC Live ll. And I have have several thousands of dollars invested in my studio with no regrets, because I have the tools that inspire me and allow me to create the music that I imagine.

really creative idea by akai to combine an mpc and a keyboard in one unit , so kool, best keyboard for urban music, iam talking hiphop,trap, dancehall, edm,reggae,rnb, unrivalled and unmatched by the competitors, roland korg yamaha dont have that raw sound, they all sound very traditional and universal on board type sounds, akai has the extra ummmf by including plugin instruments which are way better sounding than the factory type sounds you hear in the others, way to go akai, not perfect but no product is perfect, thats the beauty about tech today, a simple update and we are ready to go, great job akai, i got one, and i will be happy for many years to come

I am a Kronos user as well! with a Kronos 2 61. As you mention, this would be a great second keyboard. While I have never gigged, this would be a great second keyboard to accompany my Kronos.

Bought 1 a few weeks ago. I love it. I will say,...that Being an avid user of the Mpc's touch screen functionality it would be well appreciated if when in "Sample Edit" mode you were able to quickly touch the screen and the Q-Link functionality followed. I feel the inclusion of this feature would be a real workflow improvement for those who choose to use the touch screen for inputting functions rather than clicking through the Q-LINK button to get to the same point. Want to edit sample start? easy touch sample start on the screen and waaa laaa the Q-Links are in place for that specific adjustment...want to edit sample end..simply tough sample end on the screen and q links follow without having to cycle the q link button and so on. Thanks hope this feature is considered.🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Oh yeah, finally a pro level synth from Akai🎉 The design is sexy too!! If the keybed is higher quality than on the Advance 61 i'm most definately getting one!
Some disadvantages:
1. Difficult change Time Signature after creating and recording project.
2. No button for select all notes on Grid View of a keygroup program or MIDI program.
3. No separate "Loop" button for each track in key seqence.
4. No copy function between USB/Int/SSD.
5. No add "Lock" pad button, like it have Roland FA.

I don't know if this can withstand the pounding i give those pads. Would be nice if i knew how to play the piano though lol. I'd only consider getting something like this if it becomes more convenient than just having the MPC Studio and the MPK Mini.

Hey, can someone answer a question for me? When you're using these MPCs in software control mode can you still sample into the MPC and get audio out of the MPC, even if you're using more than 8 software synths or audio tracks? Or will I need another audio interface?
You can use the MPC Keys inbuilt audio interface. All the units except the MPC Studio 2 have a built in audio interface.

Greetings, hope all’s is well with everyone. Uhhh👀 I’ve been on the MPC Live going on 7 years now, best investment I’ve made musically. The moment I heard about the 61 key keyboard and saw it. I immediately called guitar Center to see if they had it in stock, they didn’t have it. If you’re a MPC Head like I am, this is a game changer

@AkaiProVideo So, the onboard software isn't MPC Beats? Meaning I'd have to stem everything out when I want to bring it into my DAW for iZotope tools or have it sent out for mixing/mastering?
Projects can be shared back and forth from the MPC Key 61 to the MPC2 desktop software DAW where you're be able to use your qualified 3rd party AU/VST plugins.
Does anyone know offhand if you can load your own samples (like .wav) and map them to individual keys on the board and be played live, and then not lose those samples or have to reload them upon next powerup? I'm just getting through the ads and email notifications about this new synth, but just wanted to see if anyone knew my ask. I'm a bass player that uses Studiologic MID pedals to trigger certain samples, but with a Korg Triton Le76 I had, you had to keep reloading the samples I wanted to use etc. I currently have a Juno DS76 and it handles playing samples better than the Korg did, but not really looking to spend 4-5k on aboard. Hope I'm making sense lol.

Yes you can load the companion MPC DAW as a plugin and then from there have access to all of Key 61s functions inside any DAW.

Saludos desde Ciutadella de Menorca (Spain), me estoy volviendo loco con mi nuevo MPC ONE y no encuentro la forma de poder lanzar los samples en la secuencia utilizando el modo "PAD Mute" sin tener que esperar a que termine los 16 compases mientras se están reproduciendo, el ejemplo es que en un pad tengo un loop wav de batería que dura 16 compases, si este pad lo tengo muteado desde que reproduzco la secuencia a la hora de activar este loop en medio del compas solo se reproducirá a partir del compas 1, ¿existe alguna forma para que pueda reproducir el sampler a partir del compás que quiera? muchas gracias !!

MIDI bug still present for me on 2.11 with MPC One.
Sequencing from external source (my case the Keystep Pro or ANY external midi input), note-off commands get sent to all channels regardless of how track is setup.
What I mean is setup track 1 to receive channel 1 from Keystep Pro, set to a sustaining note like an Organ synth, send a note-on message. (Note plays)
Track 2, midi channel 2 input, send a note-on and note-off with same pitch, and channel 1 note gets turned off too when note-off is received. MIDI monitor confirms correct messages received/sent.
It's a bit ridiculous and this bug has been around forever. Years and years.
Bug report has been sent and ignored, and this is a ridiculous bug to have on the mpc OS.
Makes external control over MPC synths basically impossible. Which is a huge downer.
