*Hey you ... It ain't too late for you to right the ship and get yourself back on track. Lock yourself in a room and brainstorm ideas, no matter how crazy or ridiculous the ideas are. Just right them down. My idea was to leave the country and move to a place where my money stretched further. My idea is extreme and over the top for most, but it made sense to me. So don't come out of that room until you have ideas. Then go back and choose the ones that have a realistic chance at working. And from there, you start planning and planning and planning. It's important you write all of this out on paper so it's not in your head. IF it's not on paper, you're not serious. You gotta bring it out into this physical realm and make it real. After you right out this plan, start taking baby steps and take action. Nothing happens until you take these baby steps. You can dig yourself out of any situation if u plan and work the plan. So, it ain't too late for you. Just start now. If you need help with this, I have an entire planning and goal setting session in my Move Abroad Academy here: www.moveabroadandthrive.com/academy/ *Please share your ideas and thoughts about what I just wrote. You still have time to right the ship.
Thanks for this video, Cartess! I’m enjoying the new podcast format. I share your channel with my fellow FB group members who are considering moving abroad. I’ve been in Mexico (San Miguel de Allende) since August and I love it! I’d like to explore other states to see what feels like home. I came with minimal savings after an unexpected job loss and decided to do life differently. Although I still have bouts of anxiety, it doesn’t happen nearly as often as when I was in the States. I also have a wonderful doctor here that provides house calls and prescription delivery. I do miss my grandchildren, but I’ve decided to visit as often as possible. Some days I can’t believe this is my life. I’m grateful for this experience at 57 years young. Peace and Blessings!
Thanks for posting this. I really needed to hear this video. Our lives parallel in so many different ways. I’m a 56 year old black man. I’ve been a serial entrepreneur almost my whole life, have made millions, but have not saved a dime for retirement. My wife and I have been watching your videos for over a year now. Hopefully we’ll be able to set up a time to have a consultation to discuss how we might be able to make that move to Mexico. ✊🏾
Thank you for this information ~ I’ve been talking seriously to my husband about making this move. At 70 years old this will be a huge transition but I don’t think the US will be ideal for us at this point in life 💗🙏🏾💗
Very good content Cartess. Most ppl dont realize where they are in their finances until its too late ( like 60ish) so hats off to you for recognizing your situation and taking action🎉🎉🎉
What a way to launch for first Podcast Cartess. Raw honesty, with your warm personality and sense of humor. I feel you will continue to grow your audience because you are honest and sincere. Thank you for sharing the intimate details of your family life and making Merida home.
So good! Thank you for the vulnerability. Very refreshing these days. Because of you, and your work on the channel, my partner and I are traveling to Mexico (for the first time) this Saturday to get our passport stamp. Your channel is the best source of information. We're grateful for YOU!
In support of your channel, I just wanted to mention that after clicking on your video it took over an hour for the content to start. There was a very long commercial. I have heard from other TH-cam channels that if viewers hit skip ahead, it affects your bottom line. (I don't know if it's true), but it sounds believable. Just thought you should mention to your followers that they shouldn't skip ahead. What I do is turn the volume down until the commercial has ended. Love your content, keep up the good work.
Hey Cartess. I’ve been watching your videos for the past few years. I always appreciate your transparency and openness about what it’s really like down there. You don’t sugarcoat it, but it still sounds like a great life. Wish you all the best.
Hi Carter's, wish you well Bro..zi remember your Colombia videos from years ago, I used to love watching those videos Brother... I just found you.on this channel and I will tune in to see your content ...
just when i had given up and i ihave a new agenda on the horizon, then i get pulled in by the Titile always good content, God Bless You and your family keep up the good work.
Love your story brother. I am Nica, us citizen, 51 now, and already thinking where i will end up in my retirement ! I cannot say good things about Nica, so i might end up like you !
Do you have a video about decluttering and getting rid of some of your stuff. I have 3 pieces of heirloom furniture that I want to bring… thanks in advance.
This is very real and resonates. I've been an entrepreneuer most of my working life and I'm not sure if there is any social security for me at all as they say it's gonna run out in 10 years anyway. I've spent my money on travel and now I'm putting things in place to start making a lot of money and strategically invest it so that I can NOT HAVE TO WORK after the next 5-10 years. Look into getting an IUL - IT'S A GUARANTEED RETIREMENT INCOME - you can take those 50% costs that you are saving and shove it into an IUL. I'm also looking at heavily investing in Dividends...
I pray everyone is well. Those collecting SS should get financially ready for your benefits to be less or taken completely. Not trying to scare but educate. If it's not taken completely, it will be lowered. Please have a backup plan.
100%. We’re already retired in Mexico, but our plans are different than they were before the election. Large expenditures are on at least a 4 year hold.
@@disableddivatravels Social Security knew that (due to the population bulge of the “baby boomers,” they would need an extra fund for when current workers were outnumbered by retired people. So they created the trust fund, which has helped enormously. It will run out, however, because it was not perfect to begin with (it didn’t guess that people would reduce the rate at which they had kids quite as much as they did), and it wasn’t prepared for the dramatic increase in income inequality which means that more wages aren’t subject to FICA taxes. Additionally, Congress just voted that people who have pensions and didn’t pay into SS will now get a (disproportionate) % of SS (I agree that they should get a proportional amount, but this isn’t). That, plus Trump’s proposed plan to remove all taxes on social security income mean the shortfall will arrive sooner than 2035-unless other changes are made, and I haven’t heard anything being proposed.
This was a great video. I'm learning Spanish using Dreaming Spanish. Just watching videos daily to learn. Not fast but it works. Hoping to reach fluency before we get down there to avoid that one barrier at least.
Most excellent video. That was loaded with info. Been watching your content for quite a while now. Certainly been thinking about moving to Mexico for a long , long time now. More so now that things are heating up here in the States. Thank you for what you do. Cheers!
Thank you kindly for sharing your story. It helps. I'm in a similar situation as well. Been thinking about Merida for a few years now. After the new work-a-round for the income requirement, this may be a strong possibility for me. 🦋
I panicked also, but since my job in education continually kept on me on the verge of being hospitalized while I watched other educators battle cancer, I’m just glad to be alive. I prepared before leaving the states, have a super small retirement, large social security maybe later, and I work online at 61. I will make it as long as I’m not dead! The U.S. was not only killing me, but I felt like a hamster on a wheel chasing an American lie!
One doesn’t have to buy stocks to invest. One should auto save into a Roth IRA, Mutual Funds, Money Market etc. Pay yourself first your entire working life and you’ll never miss it.
Hey Cartess, coming in this Friday, can we meet up? Truth to this video, but we never were tought how to, and with that we're at the juncture of life. If one do research on countries in the America's, one can live very comfortable, depending of lifestyle, living on 1k a month. I've looked at apartments and homes, furnished for $300 up. You can even do better moving outside the perimeter of big cities. Info is knowledge, keep spewing out the positive vibe 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good day to you and your family. First thing, I want to congratulate you on Kim attempting to salvage you relationship/marriage. I was following you adventures when you was in Colombia...when you expressed the dissolution of you marriage, I was thrown. Hoping this time will be better (fingers crossed) Currently, I am working on visiting Merida, Mexico next month and would like to know if you recommend any tour guides (like you did in Colombia) to show me around the city and I would like to meet you if that all possible. Please let me know at your earliest convenience...many thanks and peace be with you and your family (smile)

Hey. Yes, we had a great consultation prior to your arrival. I knew u would like the city. It's difficult for me to meet up with folks when they visit due to our full schedule showing folks around. Hopefully next time we can connect when you're back

Yes, ad revenue is based on viewers letting ads run. For longer ads, I think the ad has to run at least 30 seconds to generate income for the channel.
