Dan and mick, Andys dad here. We installed many Dimarzio super distortion pickups in Andys Redtail guitars over the early years. Most of them shown ohms in the 13.6 range most all were hot And ground . Probably early 70s not the later 4 wire versions. Many say ceramic magnets are harsh, but not the dimarzios ,check out how they build them sometime. They are Andys favorite pickups ,because it enhances his pickless playing style. His Brownie guitar still has a super distortion in The bridge, and a Dimarzio air bucker in the neck,an awesome combo.Great great show guys. And dad rock will always be cool.😁😉
Mr Martin! First, thank you for the info - there is so much contradictory ‘knowledge’ and folklore about pickups, so it’s great to get a reminder of that by challenging a preconception or two. Same goes for the pickups in the ASAT. :0) Second, thanks for Andy! He has done - and continues to do - the guitar world a great service. All best to you sir!
Edad Martin Hi Mr. Martin, I was wondering if you’re still building Redline guitars? I’ve been a big fan of your son’s for a while now, and the guitars you made for him sound great in his demos. Would love to know, thanks!
'Here's my clean tone' ..... and I almost cried with laughter at Mick's response ! A classic episode and an interesting insight into Andy who obviously has no idea just how much of a guitar hero he actually is.
I just ran across this episode again. I love seeing Andy being a human. Lol I love his all business videos, but it’s nice to seen him in a relaxed environment.
My favourite "Andy Riff" is when he demo'd the Orange Tiny Terror and played a brilliant micro version of the WIzzard by Black Sabbath. So cool and such a humble genuine guy. I sent him a message once just saying how much I liked his videos and no nonsense playing style and he took the time to respond to me which I've always remembered. Cool guy!
Not to go on, but a couple of things: with Dan and Mick and Andy, just sheer joy of playing guitar and making all these sounds comes through so clearly and it's infectious. Also, Andy just has absurdly great ears and is an incredible player. That's obvious but it bears repeating. His ability to hear the sounds and think of the songs that illustrate what a pedal is doing is unmatched. Getting his thoughts in this long format, which is so different than his usual format, is kind of a revelation. For example, the asymmetrical thing about the vibe sound is the thing I've never been able to put into words about why so many vibe pedals fall short. Thanks Andy! And thanks Dan and Mick! You guys should DEFINITELY do this again.
The TH-cam event of the year for sure! I had one of those "grinning like a Cheshire cat" moments when Andy played his Jimmy Page licks with the drive and echo. Just heavenly.
I got to the end and I thought -WHAT- it's over. I could literally watch these three dudes hang out and talk shop for ANY amount of time- 6 hrs- 8hrs- 12 hrs- there's no limit. I would love to see a sequel vid where each of you (three) brings a new pedal (or two etc..) to the table to demo- and you talk about both the pedal but also how to demo the pedal- aka - the context to put it in. This was amazing - thanks guys!
If Andy sees this post, please convince the guys at TC Electronic to put the Alter Ego delays on their Tone Print software so we can edit them! I've asked before and they replied that it was a joint project with Pro Guitar Shop and would consider it. That was a while ago. Regardless, I LOVE my Alter Ego X4! Also, you ROCK! Cheers!
When I first started getting into pedals I tried watching a TPS episode and got quickly confused/overwhelmed. So I watched about 500 of Andy's Pro Guitar shop videos, and came back to TPS with some context! You guys were both so pivotal in my musical journey. Love you guys
Gotta love it Andy says "I love l playing the b sides for the fans" then plays my favourite chilli's song. Which is the ultimate b side. It wasn't even on the original album and was not realised at all till years later. Although I did think it was a ce1, but now I have to go work it out!
I'm sorry guys but Andy is just an inspirational genius! Andy, thanks for coming over and doing such a great video. There is a lot of good players but you are a great normal guy.!
Andy's Keeley 30ms demo is the reason i own one. The time he takes to plan, play and edit doesn't go unnoticed. Making his single pedal demos probably the best on TH-cam. Loved the "young lust" demo in this video too. Thanks to TPS for a great episode as usual.
My absolute favorite “That Pedal Show” episode! Andy is brilliant! All three of you gentlemen have been an inspiration for my rebirth as a serious guitarist after four years of silence. Thank you. 🎸🇺🇸🇬🇧

Great to see Andy "in to a 65 amp soho" Martin on here! I bought so many pedals because of Andy's recommendations, it was really interesting to see his choices of pedals, thanks guys :)
Wonderful episode. It’s always fascinating to see what guys like Andy use because it’s very often more modest than people expect. I think that exposure to every pedal ever released probably teaches you what really matters in the end.
ALWAYS wanted to see a demo of metal tones using a semi-hollow or hollowbody guitar (kind of a doom/stoner metal sort of thing), and to finally see that realized as Andy's guest appearance on TPS is a whole other level of dream demo for me, thanks guys
