On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!

That last fight, I don't think a missile was needed. That Flanker looked it was going to scrape the ground before it recovered enough air speed to be actually flying again.

@@artemvektor1 No the pilot had no clue, there was a lot of smoke on that side of the airframe so the pilot couldn't see, from their perspective the plane was just really heavy on one side

@@treeamble585 Well, to be perfectly honest, he had quite a few "clues". Just no visual cues. So, the thing he didn't know was that he was missing the _whole_ wing. But he knew that the wing was "not working", and what that usually means.

with the thrust vectoring, this type of dogfighting reminds me a lot of the WW1 bi-plane dogfights...its almost a ballet in the sky...fighters capable of supercruise, dancing in the air at speeds that other aircraft would simply fall from the sky if they were to go that slow...cool vid!

@@russellcooper2195 personally I wouldn't fly anything against an F22...lol...but should the unlikely happen, it would be sort of beautiful to see these two dance in the sky...anyone that knows anything about the capability of the F22 knows that the SU-30SM would be blown from the sky before it even realizes that an F22 was nearby...
@@rxmclaren7 I'd say RoE might cause a situation where an American stealth fighter like the F-22 finds itself up against a Chinese flanker that suddenly decides to go hostile during a peacetime sortie. Don't put it past the Chinese to suddenly attack you when they think they have the advantage and then just as easily put the blame on you for starting the fight and sue for peace as a "responsible power". That is just what the Chinese do. Take it from an Indian.

They’d probably try doing things that the DCS version won’t allow because most of what it can really do is classified.

Seriously... DCS would make an excellent e-Sport. Growling you and the gang should start a DCS league. You can have different era planes every week dogfighting each other, you can have fixed planes fights, BVR fights with same or different planes... Your channel alone is a statement on how varied a DCS league could be.
I don’t think it qualifies for an esport but it should be.
@@cashwilliams23 The potential is there for sure and to become an e-sport all you need is to start competing. The rest will fall into place.
Team air engagements could be interesting too, deathmatches, attack/defend a ground target/transport plane or AWACS
It would be nice to see flight sims move out of the niche and more into the mainstream. Imagine what that would do for HOTAS setups and other controllers? More companies would join in creating more competition hopefully bringing prices down more. Sigh. Alas it won't ever happen.
I dont see it happening since the F22 would reign supreme each time.
The lesser pilot seemed to come out on top in this one, which I think makes it pretty clear that the F-22 is the stronger craft. No offense meant, but GS was clearly the better pilot by far in this engagement, but the other pilot was simply flying a better platform.

It was a good fight though. Fights against F22 have mostly been one sided. He did give trouble to F22.

Can you guys do a realist merge where you guys won’t be perfectly nose on, maybe far to the left or right, or maybe even that and one high and one low? Could you do the same with BVR fights where one guy might have less missiles or you guys be offset to the right or left? Same thing with one maybe being higher or lower or in mountains where you have to rely on data link and stuff? Also, having a 2v2 BVR fight could be cool; say with 2 Raptors and 2 Felons? Love the vids keep it up👌

Some good kills but as you point out the F-22 is designed around stealth and will usually kill you before you know it's there.
Don’t forget that avionics of the mods are really good and life-like.
Round Two: The F-22 pilot, feeling generous after the First Round, performs a Syrian Lead Turn and gives GS ample opportunity to clean his clock with the both the 30mm and the R-73....
Would the Su-30SM ever reach the merge with an F-22? In an ideal world, no... But we don't live in an ideal world. Politicians, more often than not, would handcuff the F-22; They could/have required "Visual Identification of the target" and "Direct Command Authority" which could/have put our pilots at a disadvantage. Since the F-22 doesn't have a FLIR/LANTIRN or TISEO like some of the legacy aircraft, the pilot would, literally, have to put eyeballs on the target.
Let's hope (especially with shtuff heating up in Ukraine) that we never find ourselves in that position... Again.

@Fred Garvin agree especially aesthetically. I know that western planes tend to have some advantages especially with electronic systems, but the Russian planes I always thought were the best looking planes.

@@stoog7487 not in a dogfight it won't. Su-30 has superior manoeuvrability than F-22. In BVR F-22 would obliterate any aircraft but there are better for bvr and not dogfight,

Su-30, and all Su-27 family, are about the same size of a WWII B-17 flying fortress bomber. They are amazingly huge!!!

He had thrust vectoring... Wouldn't take a sec for him to nose up and firewall the throttle to kill the descending momentum

@@beaclaster no... Aircraft behavior is a bit different. There is a CG somewhere near the center of the aircraft.. any force behind the CG acting downwards pushes the tail down, resulting in nose up.. and with high thrust, it moves the aircraft almost in the direction of the nose (upwards)
Yes, this is the fight that I wanted the most. Hope fully in the future there is a mod for the Su-30SM2 which is a Su-30SM with N035 radar and AL-41F-1S engine ( which are the Su-35's radar and engine) for another dogfight with the F-22. Gotta be a more intresting dogfight to see:)
even after such mode with more power engines and radar, SU-35 should still be more effective in air-to-air superiority. The primary reason for Su-30sm upgrade to sm2 is different.
By su-35 you mean su-27m, right?
Is there any chance you could do an F-22 VS F-35 BVR fight? I know most of the capabilities in both these aircraft are highly classified, so it wouldnt be too accurate to real life, but it'd still be fun to see if the F-35 can actually take on an F-22 in BVR, seeing as the F-35 is technically more advanced
Well, first and foremost, there is a reason why the F-22 is an air superiority fighter meaning that the F-22 can track a target farther than its adversary while an F-35 complements an F-22 with its sensor and ground targeting system. Therefore, in BVR, an F-22 is better by miles.
The F-35 is newer tho so perhaps a generational improvement in radar technology could narrow the gap?

I think I suggested that on the 22v35 dogfight, lots of people like to see them matched up for silly reasons but it might make a better fight BVR.

Looking forward for su-30sm2. First batch has recently arrived in Russian navy aviation. Su 30 with su 35 engines and avions, while also having the control system from su-57. The last is particularly important, because it made airframe 20-25 % lighter than basic su-30sm, making its flight characteristics better.

@@VoltageLPAFAIK tu22M are bombers for the naval aviation. Russian naval aircraft are not defined by landing on a carrier but on the role they are intended to perform.
Similar to the German Naval Tornados in the 90s.
I never usually watch any other channels videos all the way through, but with GS I always watch all the way through because its so engaging and the content is so good. Keep it up GS.

I was very surprised to see the aerodynamic capabilities of the new sequoia su 30 mod up against the f22 raptor, however in part this was due to who was in the cockpit.
An absolutely superb demonstration of the capabilities of this beautiful Russian fighter aircraft.

The domination of F-22 Raptor has finally ended. Comparing specifications, we can see that Su30SM can tackle the F-22 in many aspects. If they meet 1v1, Su30SM can probably shoot down F22...

NOPE, not possible. Ukrainians have already proven that Russian military aircraft is not that good as bullshitted by Russia. BIG PLUS, an SU-35 was downed by Ukrainian Forces and the targeting system was able to be salvaged for study to British and American engineers in Nevada. Will be interesting to hear how advanced it really is.
