THE TRUTH ABOUT THRESHOLD TRAINING | INGEBRIGTSEN TRAINING

  • This is a double threshold day, with 22K of threshold training in total.
    People often ask us how to threshold train and we see a lot of people doing threshold workouts too fast or not long enough. So hopefully this video go give an insight into how to train threshold correctly.
    This is an example of what threshold I do during 5K training and 10K training and is inspired by the thresholds of Jakob Ingebrigtsen training.

    I had a dream that the ingebrigtsens trained on treadmills that were constantly connected to a lactate monitor on your wrist, and would automatically vary the pace to stay below 2mmols.

    The only thing wrong with the Norwegian treshold model, is that its not necessarily the right model for everyone. And I'm saying that as a Norwegian. 😂

      Jakob Ingebrigtsen started it with about 12 years so he is doing it for 12 years now.

    • @Trackstaa_
      @Trackstaa_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Start with getting used to double days first. 1 threshold session and 1 easy run. Then over time gradually increase volume

    • @paxundpeace9970
      @paxundpeace9970 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should already be running almost each day of the week and have done maybe some double easy or moderate runs too.

    Considering your commitment wouldn't it be worth getting a lactate monitor. Incidentally, I hear it might not be long before a wrist based lactate monitor i.e. one that gives accurate readings without blood, could be available soon.

    Mad pace! Question, do you leave the incline at 0 or increase it? Just started my first marathon prep and will be forced to run indoors quite a bit so wanna know the best way to use a threadmill.

    • @jazzyjay4595
      @jazzyjay4595 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most specialists recommend putting the incline at .5 or 1.0, just to simulate the natural forward lean that you would have running normally. Since the belt is doing most of the work and your legs are there to just keep you from falling down, people tend to get very upright when running indoors. The slight incline also takes pressure off your knees, which is obviously helpful for marathon training. I believe there’s a video on TH-cam of Mo Farrah doing a treadmill long run and he talks about it a bit

    • @paxundpeace9970
      @paxundpeace9970 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @barboratite
