I did something similar a couple years ago... I cut down my boxspring and made it into a bunkie board by keeping the same wood frame base of the boxspring that you did. I added more wood slats & some center support posts, then placed it onto my existing bed frame. I kept the fabric that was on it & re-wrapped the bunkie board to keep the aesthetics & give it a finished look. So far so good... :)
Thanks! I have a wonky box spring and was looking how to make a slat like support instead. Great idea to upcycle the box frame! Maybe someday have the tools to make a nice frame~
I got a bed frame for free off of Facebook that needs reinforced and I've got little to no material/tools to do it with and SO wish you were my mom!!!! I need help and you are such an inspiration to all women!
if you used that edge of the shelving on the inside creating a lip and and set the wood frame on it ,then nailed , i think it would of made the frame more secure , not sure just brad nails alone are going to hold up . i did sometihing similar , i used a king size metal bed frame ,with a deconstructed king box frame [wood only] like you did ] to support the mattress and built a frame [just like yours] out of blue pine to create the illusion of a wood bed Frame. it sit around the metal fram like a picture frame and looks great and makes the bed lower. only has 3 sides so easy to move cant figure out how to send a picture :(
Love how you recycled and it turned out so cute
Way to go Ladies. 💪🏽💪🏽 Love seeing ladies work with tools...we can do it too!!
Nice job! Breaking down a couple twin box springs and need to make some twin beds, checkin some ideas out 👍
Good idea! I just added some extra boards to my old boxspring, upholstered it and added 5 feet. One in the middle for extra suport. I love yours!
Good stuff!
Pictures?

I've been considering taking apart some of our older box springs... guess I can be more confidant about that now.

Great job Ladies. I love your Mitter saw, have you had that one long? 😎✌
Yes, we've had it three years. I would not hesitate to recommend this one. We've been very happy with it.~Vicki
