- Meet Cheryl, a joyful retiree who's been living in her cute tiny house for 7 years in 2 tiny home communities. While only 13 sqm / 140 sqft, she adores living in her tiny home with a downstairs bed--fully maximized with clever storage solutions. The only way she could afford it was to do a DIY build, but that came with steep challenges. Fortunately, Incredible Tiny Homes had an amazing workshop offer. They would build an affordable tiny house shell, and then they'd provide mentoring for you & friends to come finish as much as possible in a week. Now, Cheryl is living her best retirement life with friends at The Bird's Nest Tiny Home & RV Community.

This is about the longest I’ve heard of someone living in a tiny house of this size. Kudos to Cheryl for making it work for her lifestyle.
I don’t deserve kudos. 😉 My house is just the right size for me so I don’t feel like I’m making a sacrifice. It feels like home.
@@cherylhuff1914 Yes! You know when it is just the right house. When I viewed my current house it was exactly what I wanted and I immediately made an offer - and the owner accepted it on the spot (they were there).
What a lovely woman. She has a very good relationship with her son and I love seeing her be so happy and grateful for his help when she needed a loan until her house sold. She so creative, too! I wouldn't have thought of recreating the stain glass windows on paper! It really did add a lot of charm to the house!
This time of year is the only time you can see the shades this well. The Bird’s Nest has giant sunflowers everywhere and they surround my house!

Amazing story from Cheryl on how her home was built and her son's generous involvement. Her home is not too big or too small, but just right for her. I used to have a lot more things from the 30s’s but I really had to pare down my collection!
I like all of the knickknacks she has. So many tiny houses look sterile and unlived-in. This one looks like a home.

This sweet Lady is as Adorable as her Tiny! 😍 I met Cheryl at a Tiny House Show 8 years ago! We sat next to each other and little did we know - GOD created an Amazing Tiny friendship! She is a tiny Genius 😁 The Birds Nest is an Awesome Homestead-Tiny Village! It's an enjoyable space on a wonderful property! The residence are all one BIG 💕 happy community 🪺 Cheryl you ROCK! 💪🏾
We were both wanting a tiny house but not sure how to make it happen. And here we are now, still friends, and in our own tiny houses! I still hope that we’ll be neighbors one day. 😉

What an adorable lady !! She pats her home. I tell mine how much i love her 😂. I rarely wish to go anywhere as i just simply ADORE our home.
I always think I’ll run a bunch of errands when I go into town but I end up just going home!
It’s nice to know there are people who have love affairs with their homes. I have acquaintances who look at me sideways because I love my home so much.

Charming lady with an inspiring story. One thing occurred; could she maybe get a little garden shed to store all her craft stuff and creat a little more space inside? May she have many happy years in her Tiny and may she have endless supplies of Guinness to enjoy there too!

I have neighbors here at The Bird’s Nest who would be driven crazy living in a house with all the “clutter” but I like having everything within reach when the urge strikes!
I do have 2 lofts for the craft overflow and if I run out of space, it’s time for another downsizing. 😉
@cherylhuff1914 I love the way you thong Cheryl ! I currently live in a little 2 bedroom cottage built in 1904. I'll be 67 in April, have physical challenges and I think more everyday that I still have too much stuff. I need a smaller space like we yours and downsize even more !! So love you tiny home !! What a totally enjoyable video. I can relate so much with Cheryl!!! The stuff was stifling me too after my husband passed. I still have more downsizing to do and went from a multilevel 2800sq ft home to a Casita trailer to a condo and now waiting for Incredible Tiny Homes to complete building my Woody tiny house on wheels!!! Tiny feels very comfortable and comforting. Less time taking care of stuff and more time growing and being. More is less.
She made the best decision that she could have for herself and makes it perfect for the life she wants perfectly content good for her
Living tiny isn’t for everyone but it’s perfect for me!

Loved this episode and this lady! She’s living her life in a way that’s realistic for her and loving it. There is a lesson here to be learned. I will be 65 this year and certainly know about limitations that effect my ability to get things done. I live in a really small A frame cabin and have loved it while so many giggle or simply wonder how I do it. Keep life simple. Glad she has a good relationship with her son. I never had children but know people who are estranged from theirs. It warms my heart when I see someone with a close family relationship. I was close to my parents and there is nothing like that bond. Great show. Brought tears to my eyes this one did. ❤

What a fascinating story that Cheryl shared and she is a delightful person! Her home is sweet and cozy and her organization is wonderful. I like her heart pillows and her pie slices bunting. She did a great job downsizing. I love her tiny house but I would need some trees and foliage near it if it was mine. Couldn't stand the sun beating down all around my home and I'd want the privacy that landscaping would provide. Her happiness can't be denied and I'm happy for her. TFS her story!

Nature knows best. There are trees along the creek bed and a giant oak up by the gully because those are the places they get enough water.
I wish you could see this place when it’s not winter, though. My house is surrounded by giant sunflowers that block the worst of the sun for most of the year and I specifically chose a white roof to help with that, too.
I’m definitely a tree-hugger😉, but I’ve learned to appreciate the habitats that grasslands provide, too.
What a sweet lady and she has her home just a the way she wants it. She uses every inch of it, I would have to have a little bigger home because I would get the closed in feeling but she loves her home and that’s great.She has a sweet son too!

Tiny living is a way for people to live a good life at a much lower income.
