I think she is well known, Nightwish played in Ziggo Dome, the biggest indoor venue in the Netherlands.

Our commercial media don't like metal and ignores it if they can. Only the broadcaster Vara, on the public channel spend some time on her several times. I.e. with her first band After Forever she had a performance of Monolith of Doubt in "Kopspijkers" a satirical tv program aired in 2002. But they left out the grunts, because that would be to dark/evil and scary for the average Dutch viewers. The biggest air time she had was a registration of the Pinkpop 2004 show.
For those who are wondering... Beste Zangers is a wonderful Dutch invention, (Dutch) singers from different genres who sing each other’s songs (or songs that have a special meaning for them). Every week a different singer of this group is at the center of the show. And then something wonderful might just happen that a very talented rock chick, a real powerhouse with a fantastic voice, suddenly sings an emotional Dutch tear-jerker...
Yeah, and we Germans copied the show. It is called "Sing meinen Song (Sing my song)" in Germany. But it's exactly the same show and very popular too.

@@foofourtyone yepp "sing meinen song" is our german version, the only diffrence is our stars like to get drunk and make it a (sauf)party, wich kind of lets the musical quality suffer...first 2 seasons where ok after that it just got worse and worse!
We have also the same kind of show here in Denmark. The show is called "Toppen af poppen".
In respect for the original artist they change the music & sometimes the lyrics .
In each season there might be 4 songs that will stand out.
When the subtitel version is out i'll trying to figue out why Samantha Steenwijk don't tear up.

I swear I'm telling the truth , I am very fond of this program I watched every episode from the beginning that it was broadcast. I never heard of floor jansen but i do know a couple of the singers that are sitting on the couch. but Floor really mesmerized Me by singing this song of Samantha steenwijk which is the original according singer of this song and I never heard the original song either , but when I hear floor singing this song I was immediately Blown Away , tears were falling down my cheeks when she screamed out loud for Mama. I never heard of her and i understoud every word bycause I'm Dutch to. now the internet is exploding , because of her version singing this song mama. WOOW , unbelievable artist is what she is and , now i have to listen to ALL HER OTHER SONGS because of her incredibly beautiful voice. :-) and i'm starting to like the metal music to. this song goes viral now and believe me , NOW the dutch people know , and never will forget the name " Floor Jansen " . my number 1 winner as best singer 2019 for sure.

So this is a Dutch tv show with a bunch of well known Dutch singers, the best our country has to offer. The title ‘Beste zangers’ translates to ‘Best singers’. The premise of this show is that every week one of the singers gets put in the spotlight and the others sing songs that have been important to them during their life and/or career. At the end of each episode, the singer who was in the spotlight, picks a ‘winner’. It’s all about celebrating each other’s musical journeys. This show will still be on for several more weeks, so you’ll have a video to look forward to every Saturday, except of course for the week where Floor herself is in the spotlight.

The amount of emotion reminds me of Wacken 2013 -- because Floor wasn't the "official singer" yet, and if you listen close, you can hear the emotion she projects from her voice.
And for me, it's not just about versatility or technical skills -- it's about the emotion. Can she make me feel what she's singing? For Floor, it's a metal "Hell yes!!!"
By the way, Mr. Rock N Roll, please react to Ever Dream from Wacken 2013. You have never heard drums or vocals like Jukka (pronounced "yoo•ka", the old drummer) and Floor combine to produce in Ever Dream.

So, the blonde lady in the orange jacket wrote the song that Floor sang, and you can tell that she was completely blown away by Floor's performance. She doesn't seem to speak much English but she knows "holy shit!". There will be an episode that will be ALL ABOUT FLOOR. Each of those people will serenade her with one of her songs! I hope Samantha does Nemo. I think she could pull it off.
I really love the band. When Floor sings the snare drum gets looser, the bass and guitar get louder, and the background singer gets more bad-ass!

Nemo isn't exactly a song by Floor, rather one by Nightwish well before Floor joined. I'd rather expect them to delve into Floors After Forever, ReVamp or even maybe the Ayreon days...
Shoikan True, but the Nightwish song that means a lot to Floor is Ghost Love Score, and that's not happening. Her performance at Wacken 2013 convinced the band that they needed her as their singer. I could see the guys maybe doing an arrangement of Ever Dream or Amaranth.
I'm happy to see Floor has the same effect on you like she does to me, and EVERY FREAKING TIME.
There is a whole 2 hour documentary about Nightwish world tour during which Annette left and Floor joined the band in the middle of the tour. That document is pretty insane thing to see if you like Nightwish. The documentary is named "Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours" and you can find it in TH-cam with English subs.

My Dutch is so rusty that I understood nearly nothing of the lyrics, but the emotions were enough to get some tears to my eyes. Floor is a powerhouse with pipes like no other, true, but the emotions her voice can convey... Yeah.
It's also a treat, I think, to hear Floor sing in her native language. Last episode, when she sang in German, it was also amazing, but this, I feel is even more special, because she's in a show from her country, where she isn't really known, and she can show the people from the Netherlands that she deserves her popularity abroad, and is ought to be known in her own country, and also that metal is awesome.

As someone from Switzerland I'm "able to understand" some of the words, but never enough to know, what they are talking about. The song is about asking her mother for help cause she is lost in her life. Samantha, the blond lady, always sings in Dutch, so Floor tried to do her best for her, in Dutch!

This is a dutch tv show where every week they have to sing a song of the chosen artiest of that evening. She is singing in dutch, her native language. She is amazing and everybody is just sitting there not knowing how to react because it is so perfect.

De beste zanger is a program Where Dutch artist sing eachoter songs, or songs that mean alot to the artist that in the center of that episode.
The “competition” part isnt realy a competition anymore. IT was the first few years of this show.
I just keep thinking and asking myself: What can we expect for the rest of the shows, until october ? And a very important moment, the moment when the others sing to Floor. Not because they´re going to sing to her, but to see her reaction, because I think she's pretty sesitive and emotional, I've seen her breaking into tears when they showed her that interviews before the legendary Tampere show. She even said that as her parents were in the front rows, she was unable to look a them too much because of the emotion. So, be prepared for all that. Good reaction and very quick one. That's great !!

Before she started the song in this episode she said she was afraid to look at Samantha because if Samantha would tear up, she herself would go along. Both Samantha (singer/songwriter of this song) and Floor have a strong bonding with their mothers. Floor sang this both for Samantha and her own mother.

please for one more time. This is not a competition show. IT IS AN DUTCH SHOW (not sweden finish or danish!) It are famous dutch singers who are simply covering each other songs. The person sitting in the middle bench next to the man (the host) is who songs they are covering. one day they will also be covering floors songs when it her turn. But once again it is NOT a competition. They are just having fun together.

I am from South Africa, and my native language is Afrikaans, which originated out of the old Dutch language, so I could understand most of what she was singing. Only here and there, there was a word that I am not familiar with.
It is also quite cool to listen to her Dutch interviews, as I can make out most of what is being said.
That was beautiful, I am also from South Africa, I could follow most of the song, but when they do the interviews I have to put on the Dutch subtitles to understand, maybe it's because the singing is done slower than the talking.

Someone said earlier that she is up next. So next Saturday there will probably not be a song from Floor but I want to see what the others come up with to sing for her.
Thanks to this show, where they put different genres together and let them sing for each other we dutchies finally now the masterpiece thats called Floor Janssen. Which is strange because everyone i know where allready fan of Nightwish.
Floor Sold out about 13 solo shows in Holland. All of them within 24 hours, i got Lucky and went last tuesday to one of these performances. And there she is, the biggest, most succesfull export product if the Netherlands (fuck Tiesto) doing sold out mega concerts around the world, having fun on a little stage with a little group of people. Making jokes, interacting, funny, doing some songs from this show, after forever, Nightwish. In this little light she showed What a great performer it is, no matter hoe small or big the concert is. She shall deliver and blow your mind away.

Yes!! This is one of Samantha's songs, the woman in the red blazer and Floor is singing it for her, as is everyone who sang a song that night... and dude you'd be surprised, everyone can hold their own there. The young guy in the white button-up performed a cover of Celine Dion's All by Myself in Spanish and no lie, dude can siinggg. You don't have to do a reaction on it, since the content wouldn't necessarily match your channel, but if you'd like to get a better feel for the show and how much more enjoyable it is when you realize that Floor is singing to a respectable audience, you can watch it on your own and see for yourself... Funny thing about this is that all of these people are famous in their home land, except floor. She's known world wide, but not in her country. While other are only famous in their country lol
