Thanks, Trent! Kind of an unfair comparison but of course I totally hear you! I already bought the game twice, so I resisted the urge (somehow) to do that again :-D
@@realjplay wow that’s so awesome! I want to create on! You wouldn’t happen to have instructions would you!? Haha or helpful tips? I really wanna make one
Personally, when you placed the Ship tile into the lower left area of the Duchy from the effect of the one building that lets you play one for free, I would have put it into the upper right region (the 6 space) instead. It opens the mine for placement early the next round and gives more room to work as far as placing tiles since you would hopefully drop the mine to unlock 2 more slots and is more than just 2 tan building spaces. Great playthrough though.
But it is a legal move? Any tile MUST be placed adjacent - so as I see it, you can’t place your ship lower right corner, because it’s not adjacent - or am I wrong?
At 6:19 When you complete a color in solo play you WON'T get the victory points bonus, but instead take a hex tile from the black depot and place it directly on your duchy... Or have I missunderstood the rules?
I just checked the rules again and as far as I understand you don't get the bonus TILE when completing a complete region on your board (so all light green spaces for example).
@@realjplay "You won’t gain a victory point bonus when you complete a color. Instead, choose a hex tile from the black depot and place it directly on your duchy (!), following the base game placement rules, and apply its effects. If placing that hex tile completes another color, you may take an additional hex tile from the black depot (if available) and place it in your duchy, etc." - Page 14
@@trenthogan4212 question: played it yesterday for the first time solo, just bought this game, how would you count the Victory points for a finished color zone, even if it's just one tile. I agree with you about taking another Hex tile and immediately placing it. But do you count just 1 tile of if it's a green one with animals, 1 + the animals? Victory bonus Points are thé ones from a-e (10-2points extra?) Did i do it right? Like this, the scoring goes really slow but i succeeded easily in completing my duchy...
@@annkindts9631 You're talking about completing a colour region not one entire colour on the entire board. You only take a tile when you complete a board-wide colour group not a region. Regions can be just one tile and they score depending on which phase you are in and the size of the group. This is shown on the board clearly.
@@trenthogan4212 That is not my read. Solo says no VPs for color. That would apply to each region and the entire duchy. So you do get to place a black depot hex for each color region completed. I played this way and it can trigger off other regions+ hexes, repeating (as stated in rules) if you have the correct placement die/workers.
Great to know it's actually there to download. Also checked the original board and there it's much clearer how the river tiles are adjacent to each other.
The second episode is up where I discuss this but when looking at the original map it's much clearer (at least I think). So I believe the idea is to follow the river from hex to hex, so I guess I played it incorrectly (but involuntarily punishing myself enough for that goof in part 2) ;-)
Hey there, towards the end at 29:12, you removed the castle tile from port 2 but I believe you had already removed the yellow tile during that turn earlier. Am I mistaken? Great video, by the way! I printed the map out from online and it is awesome! Thank you!
I really love this new Anniversary edition, I much prefer it to the old dull original. :) Great video

Thank you so much, David. Really appreciate it!
@3:00 hey, where can I buy that dice tower!? It’s SO COOL!
Haha - it was a little father-/son project quite some time ago! :)

I have looong years of Lego experience but I never had an actual plan; I simply started :-D Maybe I will do a video on this at some point in time 🤔

Is it possible to play this solo variant without buying the new anniversary edition?
Practically you only need the board and I believe it was originally expansion 10, which was designed for the original edition.
