16:03 Henry's clapping takes me back to working in the garage with my dad on the family cars and having silent little celebrations that something worked. My ever-stoic Dad never much noticed or joined in but it was fun being his cheerleading, light-holding apprentice!

My dad was an auto and diesel mechanic. When he was growing up in Brooklyn he knew a deaf man who could adjust the engine by placing his hand on the fender. He knew from the vibrations if it was running smoothly or not

It's such a joy seeing a Dad and his Son getting their hands dirty while wrenching on a machine.
There are 100 million sons out there that never get the experience Henry is getting, gold!
You might not think washing and cleaning the tractor is uninteresting ... but for some viewers invested in your project, there's nothing more refreshing than seeing the tractor cleaned. Maybe it's my OCD. :) It doesn't have to be long, but a couple minutes seeing the tractor go from dirty to clean would be the cherry on top. Just a thought. No biggie.
More importantly, it's great to see you pass down your wisdom, knowledge, passion to your son.
2:20 - Atta boy Henry!!!! It is good to help your Dad, some day he won't be there (hopefully a long time away) and you will treasure these times, he is/can/will teach you stuff schools would be totally unable to do and many, many times that third (or fourth) hand is a God send! The man has a rare trait for today, common sense, learn that also. It is also good to bust his chops, often if possible. I am an old man, 81 now, and still treasure my memories, even copying him walking 70 or more years ago.
Henry , you will never regret the time and experience with your Dad.

My father has been gone almost 15 years. I think back to the 1970s when he taught me to use a moldboard plow, or do maintenance on the equipment, sometimes some choice words putting mounted cultivators on.
It was invaluable. He was a good teacher. Pete seems like a good teacher. No matter what Henry does in his life, he'll always remember working with and learning from dad.
Never get tired of you calmly and meticulously tearing down and rebuilding you tractors. And a good dad joke, have a great weekend!!

Would that little tractor be a good choice for running the sickle-bar cutter for reaching beneath the fences for keeping those groomed? That could become a good Henry job to get used to the feel of a tractor. That's great that he's taking an interest in that little ol' girl.

It's good that Henry has an interest in Mechanics.... I started at his age at a Gulf Gas Station behind our house. The owner, Joe Maider had a Wrecker, he raced Stock Cars he could teach anyone anything they wanted to know. My dad didn't like me spending all my time down there... but there was 4 vehicles in our Family and I got to take care of them all in the 60's.... Later I went Automotive School in Rhode Island...! =)

That put a big smile on my face as it was perfect timing and facial expressions on both of you! Also great that you put in the new distributor and it starts more reliably. The machine is probably getting a better spark at startup and that helps. It seems that the magneto ignition is not as strong a spark for that initial startup... 👍

Treasure your time with your parents Henry. Just as your dad said, time flies by and then they're gone. Learn as much as you can while they are here. By learning what I could from my parents, I find myself not missing them as much. I miss being able to talk with them though I don't really miss them because I, in a sense, am them. I have even found myself telling dad jokes, lol

He looks happy to be with you and spending time with u My dad never wanted to be with me he was a mean drunk he died and it was to late u keep making good memories with your son it is real good to see . He will always love you and respect you and no one can take the good times with you away.
I don't know if you ever watched the movie FRANKENSTEIN with Gene Wilder, but when he brought FRANKENSTEIN to life he loudly exclaims "ITS ALIVE!" I couldn't help but laugh when it started. All I could think was "ITS ALIVE!" Henry and Pete, have a great evening. 😉😊

Pete enjoy how you take things slowly to make sure it is done right. You teaching your son reminds me how I teach mine. My son Nathan Henry will soon be 14 in March. Teaching them is important, just like my dad taught me. You telling him about watching out so he doesn’t poke the screw driver in his hand. Hi Pete! Ken here from Nova Scotia. I’m kinda having a little chuckle to myself here. When I was Henry age I swore I would not ever like my dad. Dad jokes and just coming up with things to make my kids laugh. I’ll say something now and am like, oh my gosh, there it is. Guess really it’s not so bad. My dad lives in me the same as I live in what my boys say and do. Life’s circle. It’s great you and Henry are doing that project together.

Usually the first thing that happens when I take the bottom cover off the bell housing of my 140 is I have to clean out mice nests, acorns ect. I'm convinced this is where the Holy Grail will one day be found. I love those off set Farmalls and grew up using a Cub and 140s. I can't get over how much Henry has grown. When I was a kid, I recall helping my grandfather in his garage. One of the tasks I remember is using a special spark plug cleaner to freshen the plugs. You inserted the spark end into a rubber opening and stepped on a pedal that would be like a sandblaster to clean the plug.

I rebuilt several VW engines in my high school days, alongside my father. I do value the time though my remberance was of dad never saying a word. Never much conversation between us. Really great to see a father and son in communication. Soothes my soul.

I love seeing all of those Farmalls lined up in your barn. I started using a Farmall H on the farm when I was about Henry's age. I remember my dad teaching me to work on things the way you and Henry work together. it brings back good memories of my dad who has been gone almost twenty years now. Treasure the time with Henry, he will be grown and out on his own in the blink of an eye.

Well that's another good lesson for Henry, he sure will take a lot of fond memories with him from this, I know I did with my dad during those types of lessons. A great little tractor. My first tractor, when I was 9 years old, I learned to drive and learn the standard transmission. We used this for raking hay, cultivating corn in the summer and my grandfather used it for his garden. We have a single bottom plow for this also. I am the same way about parting with this tractor, it doesn't get as much use anymore.

Although he won’t fully appreciate it for another 25 years, the teaching moment you just shared, will live with him and be a memory between a father and son that he will always be able to recall, and be ready to eagerly share with his children, or anyone willing to listen!
Making him comfortable with an old tractor will serve him well with most older vehicles.
