    He's absolutely correct!
As a kid, my friends and I would walk everywhere hanging out(in a small town) we all knew if we did something stupid that we would get busted because the neighbors knew all of our parents! 😁😆
The internet has many good aspects but it also means that many times we have a human disconnect.
Plus, knowing your neighbors means getting to know different cultures, and such which means I think more acceptance as well.

We spend our evenings on our front porch when the weather permits. Waving at neighbors passing whether they're walking, driving by, riding horses, or riding atvs. It's a calming place to unwind after a long day.

I had forgotten the message of this song. That message is still as relevant today, or maybe more so.

We still have a little of that in my neighborhood. In fact, my sweet neighbor lady across the street passed away earlier this month. Her daughter was in town caring for her and her husband (they’re a bit older) and I spent time with them yesterday reminiscing about her. I’ll be keeping an eye out on the widowed husband and keep in touch with the daughter. My next door neighbors are close friends. I used to take the neighbor kid next door to them to school when he’d miss the bus… Bottom line, we all know each other and look out for each other. I love that about where I live.

The first song by him I fell in love with, very nostalgic, I grew up on the front porch listening to my daddy and his friends make bluegrass music every weekend, watching granny churn her buttermilk, telling folk lore and visiting with neighbors. Seems like forever ago, can never replace those days.

I have always lived in a house with a front porch. (I'm 66 yr. old) A place neighbors gather and visit and watch the kids play in the yard. Love it.

I have always lived this song! Grandma and Paw’s front porch was the best. We would get our baths in the evening and go sit on the porch in our robes and slippers. Grandma would be sewing, there was conversations. Other neighbors would be having their evening walk and wave, say hello, or stop to talk at the front gate. We made homemade ice cream on the ‘stoop’ which was the front steps to the porch- not sure why it was the stoop? Haha we watched and sometimes tried to catch fireflies.. there was the porch swing… some afternoons Paw fell asleep on it… we played dolls and just have so many memories there. Next door they would often be on the porch too and the grownups talked.. My kids didn’t get to have a front porch. But they got to play and gather in the open field across the street. Similar but different.

I worked on a ranch for 15 years, until I became disabled, and I still go out there now and then. There is still a neighbor helps neighbor attitude, people know their neighbors and help without question when it's needed. Everyone waves as they pass on the road. When you get out where the roads are mostly dirt, the images this song evokes still ring true.

Excellent reaction, I live in a small town, but there is still the disconnect. I do have 1 neighbor that has hung on to the 'old ways, but the others are always walking with their head down/nose in the phone and too busy to say hi. Sad sad sad

My favorite Tracy Lawrence song, and one of my favorite country songs of all time, is "Sticks and Stones". I have to crank up the volume every time that one comes on.
Some other good ones are "Is That a Tear" and "Somebody Paints the Wall".
He's one of those artists where my brother and I would listen to the entire album and know every song by heart. He had as many good album tracks that were never released as singles as he had hits.

I miss my home town , sadly so many have passed away but we all spent so much time on our front porches and socializing with each other , looking out for one another .. I knew everyone in my neighborhood , I now live thousands of miles away in a small apartment building and have gotten to know my neighbors ( mostly elderly) and now somewhat have that connection once again ❤

When I married my wife (almost 22 years ago), she absolutely refused to leave 'her' house. She insisted we sell mine and keep hers. I thought we should sell both and get one together, but she was not leaving her neighborhood. After moving in it didn't take long for me to realize she was right. When I first got here and realized all the neighbors know each other, celebrate holidays together (parties in the driveways/yards), watch each others kids just so moms can shop in peace, watch each others homes when someone is away and I teased her about living in a modern 'Leave It To Beaver' neighborhood. I do enjoy 'our' area and am glad she held her ground on where we should stay.

I'm thankful to still have that porch like back then,I live on a dead end dirt road with 3 house's and a empty lot between me and my neighbor,I got nothing but wood's to look out when your sitting out in the porch swing and grilling a steak, we'd put our stereo out there and have a good time, but you can't go wrong with anything he sings 😀 Thank you for your reaction hope you and your family have a blessed evening 🙏

I live about 25 minutes from the nearest grocery store on a community maintained road. In this sort of environment, we all like our space, but you get to know your neighbors some. We borrow tools, all go out during the storms to keep the road from flooding (this recent rain in California was brutal), alert each other to nearby wildfires, we even have pet evacuation plans with neighbors. I grew up in the suburbs and have lived in apartments in cities, but this sort of rural living really forces people to talk to each other, even if you are more spread out.

Social media and the internet killed it. Our world's were a hell of a lot smaller before all that. You only knew about local happenings. So your world was the community you lived in. Now our world's are on a global scale. Which sucks if you ask me. I wished we could go back to local news channels and the newspaper. It would be som much simpler. We'd prolly get along a hell of a lot better than we do now.
