I was not talking about the actual situation. I was talking about the path that leads to a society like in the movie. Simon Phoenix is the true hero of the Action-Tragedy film Demolition Man. The future depicted in the film is a terribly oppressive one, one where there is no limit to technology's reach over natural human behavior (ultimately we have failed as a species to learn from mistakes of the past, so control measures have been introduced). The planet is destroyed due to over population on decreasing land mass pushed to the limits of resource extraction (the wealthy class exist in their own bubble which Phoenix seeks to destroy) Phoenix arrives as a new hope, accidentally sent from the past to disrupt the systems which have caused great suffering for the many, and near sterilization for the few. But as the film progresses we see this world isn't worth saving; and Phoenix - a product of a catastrophic previous time - lacks whatever it is that would make him such a saviour. Fighting to the death, Phoenix is outmatched and suffers the cold fate that awaits every tragic hero. The real tragedy however is not the death of the hero. We should not feel bad for losing a life, as this is the fate that awaits us all. It's that his efforts were lost to a world which didn't deserve them in the first place. There's a little bit of Simon Phoenix in us all. RIP
The society depicted in this movie would be an evolutionary dead end. It would not be able to cope with natural and man made disasters such as a hurricane or being invaded.
... Normally I'd read this as a straight joke, but the comments being what they are, I wonder what you're trying to accomplish here. Are people going to *_believe_* this? Yeah, yeah. This is for people who haven't seen it, right? I can't help noticing that you make a comment near the end of the first paragraph that doesn't seem to fit with the rest -- something you were smart enough to think of but won't dwell on and seem to contradict outright with the overall message. ...So... that's a thing.
I didn't think this movie would ever come true. Then, last week I got a warning for the language I used on Facebook. Ironically, in the small town I live in, Taco Bell is the only chain restaurant. People no longer shake hands. Next thing you know, we will all be wiping our asses with sea shells.

@@itiswhatitis6673 he's what Blade would have been if his mother wasn't bitten
There's only one other person on earth that could of played Simon Phoenix.
Dennis Rodman
Too big!
@@clarencemerritt5003 a
Agree.
Isn't it coincidental that years later Dennis Rodman happened to do a movie call Simon Sez with the same died hair as Wesley?🤔😂😂😂. After this movie Dennis was definitely obsessed with Simon Phoenix style💯
@@dboslice oh shit yeah I remember that never actually thought of that but now it's so damn obvious 🤣
This movie was so correct so far ahead of its time. We're heading straight into this with all our safe rooms and calling everyone a racist for any kind of criticism.
+moxshyfter - .....plus most "don't get sarcasm anymore" 01:17
What safe room are you talking about?... I think you mean panic room that was a good move
I watched it in 1993. Predicted to my friends that all things will come in the future. They laughted at me. Now i laugh. :D
In the beginning of the 90s, we had the first wave of political correctness. This movie perfectly captured that Zeitgeist.
I was not talking about the actual situation. I was talking about the path that leads to a society like in the movie.
Have you actually noticed that free speech is weakend by laws against hate crime, that some people are preaching for more love for suicide bombers, that the #meetoo campaign will lead to sexual apartheid and in further consequence apathy?
+ bekindrewind The same world most right wingers see. They hate PC so much that they're willing to adopt any stupidity, as long as it's on the other side. Praise foxnews!
1:21 - Sometimes he's so relatable I have to remind myself he's the villain
I know. Now that we're almost living in San Angeles I'm starting to root for the guy
I tried to wipe my ass with those seashells and ended up with Hemorrhoids. Got to love how there is a gigantic Tacobell commercial in this movie.
Looks like the way the world is fucking going these days.
No if cops were following rules like this and getting their asses kicked, law enforcement would be very different i'd sit back and laugh my fucking ass off, because SOME of them, Not ALL of them, but some definitely deserve a good ass kicking.
Cayden Damn Right, When now that we have Trump behind the Desk.LMAO
ivannthegreat1 Cry a little
ivannthegreat1 Trump was elected cause people are getting tired of leftist Post modern SJW anti science crap!
jakep1979 Trump is just another puppet of the elite. Just look at all of his advisers and the ones who financially supported him in his election. All of them are corrupt and act in self interest. The quicker you realize that there are no trustworthy politicians the quicker you'll be able to free yourself from the mess we are in.
This is eerily similar to how things are going these days.
Soon in Minneapolis.
its funny, in 1993 we laughed at this movie because we never thought it would ever come to pass. Now in 2018... its creeping ever closer to becoming a reality.
Better learn how to use those three seashells today, boyos.
Thanks alot you shit brained fuck faced ball breaking duck fucking pain in the ass.

Today is 3-6-23 and this is starting to become a reality, great prediction from this movie.
The only time I felt bad for cops.
The planet is destroyed due to over population on decreasing land mass pushed to the limits of resource extraction (the wealthy class exist in their own bubble which Phoenix seeks to destroy)
Phoenix arrives as a new hope, accidentally sent from the past to disrupt the systems which have caused great suffering for the many, and near sterilization for the few.
RIP
phoenix was meant to be a evil bastard. maybe he was likable but he blew up a bus with 40 people on
The society depicted in this movie would be an evolutionary dead end.
THis movie was literally ahead of its time.
He didnt get fined for littering though.
Simon would love Minneapolis
A live look at Minneapolis in two months.
Who's here after coronavirus and recent protests?
Me
I always thought of Mr Phoenix as the hero in this movie and I'm not kidding.
Well, this town needs an enema quite desperately. And it IS refreshing seeing Eloi getting schooled by the Morlocks.
Did Wesley Snipes steal Mario's clothes?
"It's a-me, Wesley Snipes!"
I didn't think this movie would ever come true. Then, last week I got a warning for the language I used on Facebook. Ironically, in the small town I live in, Taco Bell is the only chain restaurant. People no longer shake hands. Next thing you know, we will all be wiping our asses with sea shells.
I gotta say Snipes kinda stole the whole show in this movie. As good as Stallone was, I have to admit it was Snipes's character that I enjoyed watching the most. Dude would make me laugh with pretty much every line.

this is the perfect performance of the joker in my opinion i hope some producers and writers watch this movie before the next batman trilogie
Wesley Snipes was perfectly cast in this movie.
This my favorite movie
Simon Phoenix is my spirit animal!

Wow! Simon really wiped the grins off those cops back at the station😂😂
I rooted for Phoenix in this movie lol
Wesley looked like he had fun making that movie.
Only thing he hated was the hair he cut it off soon as production finished LoL.
The new Minneapolis police

I love the quote "We are police officers, we are not trained to handle that kind of violence".
Because pigs can only fight people who cant defend themselves back.
I would kill pigs easily because they are my blood enemies.
