Looking back: Jon Snow's remarkable 45-year career

- Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow has decided to step down from his role from the end of the year after 32-years at the helm of the flagship news programme, and 45 years as a journalist with ITN.
We take a look back at his career.

I'm 53. John Snow has always been a newscaster/journalist during the course of my teenage and adult life. My best wishes to him for his retirement.
I just can't imagine channel 4 news without Jon. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be greatly missed.
Snow's integrity was second to none. One of the few who manage to reach a position of relative influence whilst keeping their humanity. Will be remembered!
My one hour from 7pm weekdays will never be the same again. Thanks for the news on Africa and thanks for your service Jon.

This is so bittersweet. Jon brought so much humanity and integrity to journalism, he'll be missed but I'm glad he can enjoy a comfortable retirement. I wish him well.

Jon Snow is going to be sorely missed. Channel Four News will never be the same without him in the presenter's chair. To be part of the programme's history for the 32 years he has been part of speakes volumes. What an incredible journalist, who has brought many many special moments down the years.
When the show went on air and he appeared on the screen every evening, its like watching the main event.
The famous opening introduction, the colourful iconic ties and the special closing line, etc.
He truly is special and as I said before, Snow is going to be very, very hard to replace. He has served both ITN and Channel Four with incredible high-quality distinction and is a testament to UK television as a whole. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful memories and bringing the news to the viewers, Jon.

I love watching John snow. I’m 30 and I have been watching jog snow ever since my late teens. I remember meeting him in Egypt while I was on holiday and I said to him your John from channel 4 he said yes but he did not stop for a second I guess he was in a rush.
And he worked secretly as a brother in the night watch.

I would do the same and even 15 years earlier to step down, and do anything on my bucket list.
What an absolute legend this man is - a fantastic broadcaster, a witty and charming character and a down-to-earth and sympathetic nature. There are so many instances of him being utterly brilliant over the years - a particular favourite of mine being him freestyling a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Jeremy Paxman outside the BBC when he left Newsnight 😂 He's irreplaceable.
PS - I wholeheartedly recommend reading 'Shooting History', his autobiography from a few years back - it was so good that I finished it in two days. You really got a sense of how much he cares about the people and events he has reported on over the years.

I saw his interview with Russell Brand and I immediately disliked this Jon Snow. I don’t know where do news channels get their hosts but they are all the same breed of illogical puppets that don’t care about dialogue or the search for the truth for the common good. I say that Jon Snow is an insignificant individual
