My understanding that in Japan teachings she is known as Kannon, very much part of Tendai Buddhism and (I assume) found in the temples on Mount Kurama. Bruce will know the answer for sure.
Indeed as noted above. Kannon is represented throughout Mt. Kurama and her statue is what welcomes everyone as you pass through the main gate on the mountain.
