Shortly before the events of Cataclysm, an exiled noble had retaken Durnholde Keep and its surrounding area, declaring himself de facto King of Lordaeron as told in the preceding campaign Lordaeron's Legacy. After retaking a slice of the former Kingdom he has now styled himself as King Candor, a move which has proven unpopular with many in the Alliance. In this period of great unrest there are many heroes and villains trying to survive, claim power, or just do what they believe is right.

I really like how the all heroes are very diffrent in personality.This makes them much more human and makes the experience more fun.
Thanks! I did try hard to create three distinct characters that hopefully players would enjoy following with distinct personalities to see how people would react :)
I know it's the AI voice, but combined with his weird humor and destructive magic obsession it feels like Pyraelus is deep in the autism spectrum
Weirdly enough, my aim when writing him was just "weird, good at heart, fun and powerful" I think if he also appears autism-coded then that is a cool aspect of the character and cool representation.

This map is kind of similar to the second mission in Lordaeron's Legacy: a big map with things and secrets to explore and find to empower your hero whilst destroying enemy bases. At the time I also did think I'd made the base too big but was too far into it's creation by that point to radically shrink it. It's also a bit of a breather map as it's easy enough to defend your base as you explore and once the Scarlet and Scourge are dead the pressure is greatly reduced. I saw people saying I don't give expansions to the player in chapter 4 but this map shows that I'm nice... sometimes.
Originally the Scarlet and Scourge did attack each other but it was kind of awkward since the Scarlet would destroy the Scourge and if the player got involved in the threeway fight Warcraft's AI isn't very well designed for handling threeways.
In terms of secrets you were so close to finding one! The grave, if Pyraelus had been there you get a fun little piece of dialogue and an item but you should be ok without it. As you state about killing the spiders whilst it's big and there's a lot to explore I've tried to make it worthwhile to the player at least. Overall though, if I was making this map again from scratch I'd probably shift the layout around a bit and make it tighter but I'm pretty happy with it.
Also oh boy, I honestly don't remember that Scarlet Base being that tough in my testing, another one that might use a little tweaking down just so it doesn't spam as much. The thing about the Scarlet Crusade is they're literally just a texture/model swap of your own techtree so it's a mirror match and their training times etc should be the same as yours but I liked the use of the tanks to break through them and the Bulwark, it's always nice seeing an underutilised unit get some value. In terms of the Scarlet base being far away to reinforce that could've been a perfect moment for the Devotee's Saving Grace ability to pull them quickly to your location ;) a concept that might prove useful in a later mission too.
I noticed a few dialogues didn't trigger and the ballista and I believe it's the same Warcraft issue rearing it's ugly head, when saving and loading certain trigger events can break. I'm not going to tell you not to save and load as it should've been on me to fix those triggers so that doesn't happen. For other map makers out there don't use events like "A Specific Unit takes damage/is killed/acquires a target" etc as those will break upon loading a save; instead save the specific unit to a variable and then use the generic form of the event and specify the unit through the conditions "(triggering unit) equal to " in order to avoid this.
So yeah hopefully that provides some useful/interesting insight into this map!

@@kurtonela Pyraelus AoE spell attack in this version could kill items, IIRC I have fixed it's targets allowed but I can't remember if I've updated it; I might need to double check.

Epic - Increases the Hero's stats by 1, armour by 2 and movement speed. History - These boots are made from sturdy plate providing protection as well as maximising comfort.
So basically a buffed boots of speed.
I'm curious, as it's never been explained even once. Like what's the good or the bad if optional quests are completed? Does something changes toward future chapters?

1:07:19 I think that you might have attacked commanded a chest with a custom idem there by accident Jay, It said captains boots. You might want to check that area again with cheats if later if your up for it. Up too you I guess.

For the record I haven't played this myself.
I think the farm from the previous misssion does not give what is commonly reffered to as a "reward", instead it prevents you from getting a punishment. For example how evil would it be if not saving the farm meant that you get an additional enemy base in this mission made from the farm defenders or random attacks from off the map.

Candor's voice is surpricingly fine which makes it a bit shocking next to the other voices, Istan is okish, but pyraelus... oof. Which is a shame bc I like the character hes so fucking weird lmao
Well besides that. Huge macro map and yeah tthis one is hard as fuck. I liked your army comp, knights are very good here due to how big the map is

It broke due to an issue in Warcraft where saving and loading can break some triggers, that's partly my fault for not making the triggers so that doesn't happen, sorry!

The cringe of the marvel-like dialogues mixed with the AI voices trying real hard at the end was comically hard to watch through. This campaign is probably funnier than it was designed to be.
Marvel-like? I'm hurt :P Shakespeare would often contrast particularly dark and serious moments with moments of brevity and humour in order to not leave the audience feeling too depressed or down, for example after King Duncan's murder in Macbeth is directly followed by the Gatekeeper scene where it's entire purpose is for the Gatekeeper to make jokes.
But yes I could definitely go back and improve the AI voice acting now that I've gotten a better handle on it :)
