    Some OG tried and true rigs. I haven’t been seeing many coho yet this year up in MA7 & MA9 (I’ve been beach fishing while my hobie is out of commission).

    Thanks again brother for responding. Got a better handle on what I'm doing wrong with the flasher now. Fishing off of vashon Island. Light the bottom fish 2 in any ideas on rigging that. I want a guy might go to do well there too?

    Not having any luck getting the flashers down. Is there a method to drop a 5 Oz weight in front of the flasher? 410 or whatever you're using without the downrigger

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes this will need a bumper setup with a weight ahead of the flasher. Typically this is 6-10+ oz depending on current/speed. I can look at making a rigging video

    I think you could have easily added a third, one that isn't technically a rig, and which can be fished with just a single knot to the mainline - the humble jig

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A jig is definitely one to add in the mix. For me these two are mainly what I run for confidence wise

      I have actually! Ran the Kokanee cut plugs for resident silvers and did really well. Always have them on board just in case.

    Also, have you tried any other method besides using a down rigger when trolling?

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have yes. Motor mooching with a herring and sinker can be very effective in the right conditions as well as droppers and flashers. All depends on where the fish are feeding at. Downriggers allow for precise depth targeting but are not the only option

    hi, im planning to go to seattle first week of november. Any place you recommend to fish from the shore. Or may be a non expensive charter? thank you.

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      By November most of the beach fishing opportunities are over in the saltwater. The salmon will be in the rivers at that time and you will have some opportunities around the Seattle area for both bank fishing and guided trips. Most guides are in the $200 range for Washington

      Definitely can be all the way out to the green can. Just look for the tide rips and bait. Especially for silvers and pinks but kings are in there too

      Buzz Bombs and Crocodile type spoons casted and jigged back on retrieve are deadly for Coho if they're around. Best spots are points that have big rips during tide changes, and beaches that have a fast river-like water movement along the shore and parallel kelp beds that follow the shorelines. Fort Casey on Whidbey is a great example of a point. Just north of that point, the long beach to the north is a salmon highway in the fall. Sound bound Coho in the fall run right along the beach and kelp beds as they head home to spawn. Cast to the close side of kelp or out in a swirling rips on points. The action is pretty well over by early- mid October.

      @@gjbingham Thank you! Looking forward to getting some pinks and cohos from the beaches this summer/fall. Appreciate the knowledge drop!

    • @gjbingham
      @gjbingham ปีที่แล้ว

      This setup isn't a great pink killer. I only remember catching one during the three years I lived there (right at Ft Casey). I fished a ton. Up in Adak, we used a silver spoon, maybe two inches long, that had a pink plastic insert in the center of it - that was considered the best way to catch pinks. I can't remember the name but I'm sure you can find it easy enough. Good luck!

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors

      Great question! I chase the bait when targeting Kings. Sometimes it’s 200’ sometimes it’s 50’. But having the right speed and depth seems to make it happen. We were going 3.0-3.6 Sunday on our fish
