      I have lived in San Antonio all my life except 4 years military and a year and a half in Houston, and I thought the same thing, but about my Grandmother. She made the best Mexican food I've ever had! She would say the same thing about her recipes.

    I made this today and it is soooo good! I will definitely keep this recipe for pollo y arroz. The only thing I messed up was the kind of chicken I got. There was not much flavor and it seemed dry. Will probably get different parts next time. Thank you so much for sharing and making this video!

    Watching several of these for a recipe I think will be best, and this one wins. Will have to come back and let ya know. One factor is spices- two kids don’t like cumin , at all (even tho when I make chili I add just in decreased amounts is all, and no one complains. But this seems to be a good recipe to work with. Looking forward to making.

    Laura, this is one of my favorite dishes. I’ve always been Intimidated by it and have only made it twice in my long life 😁 I’m going to make this just like you! I like that you removed the rice from the pan, and used this same pan to fry the chicken. (Yeah, when I make it there’s pans everywhere) 🙆🏻‍♀️ 👏🏻👏🏻

  • @billyjones5091
    @billyjones5091 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good morning Laura! Thanks for posting an arroz con pollo recipe it’s one of my favorite dishes. I was wondering when tasting for salt at that stage when you added the chicken broth is the chicken throughly cook? I know that’s the time to add the salt because after you cook the rice for 20 minutes it would be too late. I know it can still be done but I believe it’s better to add the salt when you have all the liquid in it.

    • @VirtualkitchenwithLaura
      @VirtualkitchenwithLaura  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Billy, You can add the spices to the broth before you pour it into the pan and season it that way.

    • @VirtualkitchenwithLaura
      @VirtualkitchenwithLaura  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      After it comes to a simmer, I lower the heat to very low, I have a gas stove on 2. I hope that helped you. Don't be opening the lid, that tends to mess things up.

    i’ve never seen anyone brown the rice first, it’s always brown the chicken, remove, THEN brown the rice, sauté the veg, season, add liquid and return the chicken. i guess you could even brown the rice in a separate pan while everything else is going...

    • @VirtualkitchenwithLaura
      @VirtualkitchenwithLaura  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anything works, as long as you brown the rice. Do whatever is easy for you.
