Lost your Ledger or need a replacement? No need to panic! In this video, I explain how to restore your Ledger device using your 24-word seed phrase. I think my sim has been duplicated I factory reset now I can't see what's in my ledger. I'm afraid to enter my seed fraise. My ledger says update firmware my phone keeps installing games. HELP
Hello . I have a complex problem with my ledger. Yesterday I didn’t get in ledger live anymore, so I reinstalled ledger live and did a update from the ledger key . Unfortunately I didn’t see my portfolio on the new ledger live . So I did a inlog by my phrases. Unfortunately we found out there is a mistake in the 24 words 😞. I still have access to my ledger key so I re installed new 24 words , but this doesn’t help as well .. do you have a idea from what more I can do ? ( of course I want to pay you for this support!)
@@Pepe-recha there are some imposters in my comment sections with the same icon, but you can rest assured it’s me if you see the checkmark next to my profile name. They also have a little gray border.
It's a good idea to always set up two identical ledgers/trezors with the same seed phrase/password in case you lose one, or if one stops working properly. Then if one goes bad you lose one, you can use the other backup, and order another new one to replace the backup. Cheers!
You do such a great tutoring job! 2 questions... #1 When you restore to the new Ledger device...can your old one still be a back up? ( When you restore, it doesnt make the old one unusable? You can still use the old one as a back up?) #2 I am not clear on what you mean by verifying apps. I basically only have 2 cryptos on my Ledger live....xrp and xlm. Are each of these associated with an app that I must verify one by one as you demonstrated? Does each of these cryptos have an "app" that must be verified on ledger live?
1. Yes you can still use the old one as a mirror backup 2. Each crypto you manage has an app on the device (xrp, xlm) and an account in Ledger Live. I verify with the accounts in order to confirm that the device is restored properly and the accounts are now manageable with the new/restored device. Some people have multiple seed phrases and accounts created with multiple devices and/or configurations (seed phrases). that is why you get the "oops something went wrong" message when you try to manage crypto in an account with the wrong device/configuration attached. Better to verify the account-device combo instead of being surprised by that error message later when you are trying to send crypto out from the wallet.
Dear Rex...I really enjoy your posts and please keep them coming. I do, however, have an issue with what you explained which can be viewed at 12:20 on the timeline and has to do with the letter D. On your Ledger Live the last eight values are 2ddOb373 whereas on the Ledger Stax the last eight values are 2dDOb373. It almost seems as if capital D and lower case d are interchangeable! I would not have gone past that point because it does not make sense to me that the verification check between Ledger Live and the Ledger Stax SHOW DIFFERENT VALUES! Have I got it wrong?
Thank you for keeping it simple as you say. I have a 25th word, well phrase. How do I restore my ledger and get access to my accounts when there is a 25th word? Thank you.
After you have done the restore, then you will access the passphrase configuration like you did before. e.g. just enter your temporary passphrase or set up the alternate pin like you did before. You will be accessing the same configuration as you were on the old device. Just make sure and use the exact same passphrase (25th word) as before.
Thank you very much for your videos, maybe you can help me. I can't find any help in German. My Ledger firmware is too old and I can't establish a Bluetooth connection. I got a new computer and cable connection. If I reinstall Ledger Live, can I proceed in the same way as described in the video? Theo I have to load a new firmeware Update onto the old ledger using a cable connection. or should I buy a new ledger? Thank you very much for the help and sorry about my bad English.
It’s actually impossible to update the old ledger Nanos using your phone. You’re going to need to connect it to your computer. And yes, you can get a USB cable and connect it to your computer and install Ledger Live in order to run the firmware update. I would give that a shot first. You may be able to get it updated successfully. However, you may not considering it hasn’t been updated in a while. Sometimes they’re too far behind as long as you have your seed phrase you always have the option of purchasing a new device and doing the restore. Now you can run my comment through Google translator !
I don't understand one thing in air gap wallet like keystone 3 pro My question is Keystone 3 pro is generated seed phases in offline l mean don't need internet connection I don't understand how its work how to generated offline seed phase
You don't need an internet connect to generate a random number. That is what the private key is, a random number. Once you have your key, it will correspond to an empty address on the blockchain and you can start funding your accounts
If I originally had a ledger flex, and then I went and bought a ledger stax would I still be able to use the same BTC account address that was originally created by the flex or would I have to make a new one for the stax?
And Is there any way to make sure that the new device is genuine before I put my 24 seed phrase into the device? I ordered from Ledger of course (not ebay, amazon etc) and It's arriving soon, but I'm a bit paranoid if somebody let's say will change it to a fake one on the way here.
Ledger Live runs a genuine check when you attach your device and go into the "My Ledger" section. This will confirm that the device is genuine. Just look up at the top section where it shows a picture of the device. there is a purple check mark and it says "Genuine Check" next to it.
@@CryptoDad Yes I know that, but in order to run a genuine check in the ledger live you have to frist put the 24 seed phrase into the device (as my previous device doesn't work I had to order a new one) and that was my question, how can you I make sure that the new device is genuine without putting the seed phrase, but thanks luckily my device is genuine, just wanted to know how to check before you set up (or recover) your wallet.
@@pkavics9182 OK if you’re that paranoid then you can connect your replacement device and set up as brand new run the genuine check. And then after your satisfied that it’s a genuine device you can enter the pin incorrectly three times and run the recovery.
Well logically 24 words would take twice as long to brute force crack as a 12 word seed phrase. However, we’re dealing with astronomical numbers here. A 12 word seed phrase is more than sufficient for securing a crypto wallet. I usually like to use this simple example: If a 12 word seed phrase takes 1 million years to brute force crack and a 24 word seed phrase takes 2 million years to brute force crack, does it really matter? And those aren’t even the actual numbers ( they are much larger) that’s just a simple example that illustrates the point.
@@c3vette47 yes you would simply do a recover on the Ledger flex instead of setting it up as new. And you would use the 24 words seed phrase of your current ledger nano x.
Yes you can. just fire up the device and follow the directions on the device screen. be sure to choose "restore form backup" instead of "set up as new" Also make sure it is charged up or plugged in
Dear cryptodad, lets say somebody has my recovery sheet phrases, if he or she sets up a new ledger and uses my recovery phrases will all my funds be gone? If yes, are my funds on my and his/her ledger or are they gone to the new ledger who uses my recovery phrases? Thanks in advance and wish you all the best, Yours sincerely,
I think Ledger still missed the mark with the Stax and Flex. They have less storage capacity than the Nano X which makes no sense considering storage is dirt cheap. No one asked for E-ink or grayscale images. Would much rather they invested the R&D into a camera so we can scan QR codes. And the screen for the Flex should be backlit. And the pricing for the Stax is ridiculous.
You make valid points and you sound like you’re a pretty savvy crypto user. However, the average user does not really require 10+ apps so the storage requirement is not really an issue for them. And although storage space is relatively dirt cheap when we’re talking about hard drive and memory, on the Ledger Stax and flex we’re talking about a secure element chip. This is a much more specialized and expensive chip and it is designed with security in mind. Ledger had to use up some extra space on the secure chip element for code devoted to the secure screen, That’s why it takes up more space or in effect leaves less space for apps. It was definitely a trade-off though.
