I remember 10 years ago, it was February, my mom had just passed away a month before, and I came down with the worst flu I had in years. I was living alone and had nobody to help me. I was so sick, feverish and nauseous that it took all my strength to bundle up and walk out to the barn to care for my horses and chickens. I got to the barn and had to lie down to rest until I got enough energy back to be able to get up and do the most minimal of chores, provide food and water. Once done, I had to lie down again on the barn floor so I could gather enough energy to walk back to the house. I don't think I've ever been that sick since, but I think about how rough it was for that time.
@raisedstray4947 If they acted any different, I don't think I noticed because I felt like I was dying. If anything the horses were more upset and agitated because they saw me, but I wasn't giving them food like I normally do, I just laid down on it. Like a waiter just standing beside your table holding your food and you're staring at it starving wondering what in the heck is going on.
Can't tell you how many times I've gone out to take care of my chickens with stomach aches, flu, colds, currently my sciatic nerve is kicking my ass literally, and guess who's taking care of the chickens this morning? Never a break when critter lives are counting on you.
Having terrific neighbors is the best backup plan, but I don't rely on them for sniffles and aches and pains, I only rely on their generosity for occasions when I need to go away for a day or two.
I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. But I thank you for your encouragement...I needed to hear it from a random source. You're right, your purpose is everything. And Morgan, today's encouragement is you encouraged me to keep going, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart❤ Your channel, your beautiful wife, your beautiful farm animals, and YOU are very special and purposeful. Stay tough, Morgan, you are amazing to all of us! Get well soon, and all the best of life to you and all you do❤
I know how you feel. I used to drag myself to work and plow on despite looking sicker than half the people I was taking care of. They asked me why I was still working to which I replied, "If I don't come, no one will take care of them." Get plenty of rest and get well soon. Don't worry about the channel schedule. Get better first!
Hey Morgan, i broke my right arm last week and just had surgery to implant screws and a plate into my wrist area. My pain is so severe and I'm literally in tears most of the time. Thank you for posting vids to distract my pain! Feel better soon.
Sux to be sick. But having to go and do is probably the best thing for you., I've learned that by pretending I'm not sick and pushing through the normal routine, I seem to get better faster. Lying around and feeling sorry for yourself doesn't do much. You are on the right track! So blessings to you and feel better soon!
Aww, sorry you arent feeling well, cold fresh air and a little Jethro Tull Aqualung can get those sinuses flowing, lol, hope you feel better soon! Don't you find getting on a nice dry tractor so much better, love that new barn. Thanks for the update Morgan, get some rest and we will see you soon.❤️👍
"If you have animals, you have animals taking care responsibility." So true. I've been sick all January & the higher body temperature is still not coming down after 2 antibiotics (I also have covid currently). However, my cat isn't feeling well and needs his teeth cleaned and probably a lump removal, so I'm researching and no matter how I feel, I gotta take care of him cause no one else will. He gets meds every 2-3 days & because of that I can't be hospitalized so I'm doing the best I can to take care of the both of us. I hope you feel better soon, Morgan. Being sick sucks. I also extra sweat these days because of being sick and yeah. Not fun.
Literally no truer words ever spoken- I've felt that way about all my pets. The dogs know Momma doesn't feel good, but they can't make their own food or walk themselves. It has to be done. They are my purpose
You can tell Toby, Abby, & Ginny all knew you're not yourself. They were calmer today. The birds were feeling an early touch of Spring. Them in a bacchanalian free-for-all. Wow! Get well quick! 😮❤😅
The cold air is probably refreshing and the animals give a boost but I’m sure you’re exhausted. It will be all the sweeter when you’re done chores for the day and in to the warmth. Feel better soon.
Hoping you’ll be feeling better in no time at all! There’s definitely something to be said about being relied upon … and that it feeds the soul! 🙏🙌❤️🇨🇦
I wholeheartedly agree that any calves born of Astrid should be named Brienne of Tarth (love her so much!), and I’d love to see a cow named Arya Stark too. Feel better soon Morgan; I’m not a doctor but I recommend drinking tea and taking a rest day until it’s time for evening chores. Take it easy my friend!
Remember to feed a cold and starve a fever. Lots of liquids, rest as much as you can. Thank you so much for showing such loyalty and perseverance and responsibility. And I hope that you get well soon.
Sure hope you are feeling better now Morgan! Even when my brother, sister and I were small we were responsible for our animals and had to take care of them rain or shine. Sick or well. They came first if we wanted to have them.
Definitely hard to keep on when you feel bad. But you always have to have a back-up plan for when you absolutely can't go out. I found that out 4 months ago when I had major surgery. I'm single, with no family near. I had to depend on my friends and neighbors for daily feeding and hired a high school kid to help with major physical stuff once a week. A month after surgery, the Dr. put me on a drug that just wiped me out. I had every major side effect, including migraines and absolutely no stamina. My limit was 45 minutes outside. Just going to the grocery store wiped me out. I told them no more after 2 months of that. I'm still not up to par a month after going off the drug. Will have to keep my HS kid till May. Very expensive, but necessary.
@@catman19 Not sure why I agreed to go on this estrogen blocker. My chance of the cancer recurring was less than 10% with no drugs. Surgery got it all, so no chemo or radiation, and it's not genetic. I even made it through post-op without the Tylenol w/codeine. Just used regular Tylenol after the 4 day nerve blocker for right after surgery wore off.
xoomies are defnatly a good thing in dogs. Unless I'm mistaken (which, tbf, I could be), zoomies are an indication of a happy/healthy dog. meaning baby is very happy dog :)
Morgan, I can see how bad you feel. Not only do you have to take care of your animals, but you also take extra time to make a video for us even though you are sick. Thank you for that❤, because as always you make my sh*tty day (actually i have almost exclusively sh*tty days for months due to my sh*tty health 😤) much better. Get well soon! ❤️
I hope you have a plan B for the inevitable time when you are simply unable to do tour chores. I know it's not Allison's "thing", but i hope she could do at least the most basics to keep things ok until you can get a better option.
I commiserate with you Morgan. I certainly hope you do feel better very soon and that your temperature gets no higher and dissipates quickly. I’m sure you have painkillers on hand and please take them and don’t say I don’t need them like I used to when they really do help. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
I've been sick as a dog and have gone out and done animal chores before collapsing back into bed. Same with letting them out and putting them up in their shelters for the night. They depend on us and can't take care of feeding and watering themselves. I feel ya, Morgan!
Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery, Morgan. It's a shame that you're too unwell for a snowshoe exploration day. It would have been interesting to see if you could identify any of the animal tracks in the snow before the cameras gave the game away. 😊❤❤❤❤😊
Hello Morgan. I love following along as you do the animal chores and I get to see Toby Dog loving the cold weather. As always I love your channel and never miss a video. Sorry you are sick. 🤧 Please take care and get well soon. ❣️❣️
Hello! I have nothing to do with farm life whatsoever but I love your videos. I will remember this video when I am sick and don’t want to get out of the bed… Great channel, thank you for sharing, we love you ❤
Get well soon Morgan-you've got all that good honey-make yourself a toddy xx (I don't drink alcohol so its just honey lemon and hot water for me) works a treat xxxx
I have a severe chronic pain condition & fibromyalgia. There are days I don’t get out of bed but when my fur baby cat was diagnosed with cancer, everything changed. She was sent home on hospice care* & I didn’t just get up to clean the litter box or feed her, I got up literally every single time she came to me for any kind of attention. It was too painful for her to get on the bed, even with pet stairs, so I went to her. It’s amazing what you can do when you feel like you have to. * She passed in late 2023 after almost 18 years of being together practically 24/7
Little tip about clearing snow - especially if you have gravel driveways/roads: if you've only got a cpl of inches, you'll want to "compact" the snow as opposed to clearing it with something like a snow blower. That way, the snow can more easily turn into like a sheet of ice and lock-in all of your gravel. If you don't have a compactor, you could simply drive back and forth over it with your car/truck/tractor until you get it all. This way, when you get more snow, you can then clear it without any worry about destroying your equipment or your driveway.
Sorry you are sick . Hope you feel better soon. I'll keep you in my prayers. I know you take good care of your animals. I have always taken care of my animals regardless of how I've felt. It's not fun but you do it any way. 😊
Get well soon Morgan. Good job caring for the animals and making a vlog when your sick.

Sounds awful 😖
That sounds absolutely awful, do you recall if the animals acted differently when you laid down? Or if they noticed you feeling and acting different?
@raisedstray4947 If they acted any different, I don't think I noticed because I felt like I was dying. If anything the horses were more upset and agitated because they saw me, but I wasn't giving them food like I normally do, I just laid down on it. Probably the strain of losing your mom made your immune system weaker and the flu really hit ypu hard

Nevertheless having a backup plan for emergencies is key.
I feel like I have done this with children....
@@fairgreen42 This is an excellent idea. Looking at the other side of it, a farmsitting service might be a lucrative thing.

You are a very good farmer and strong work ethic take care and get to feeling better
Get well soon. Don't push yourself.
Just like a mom, pet owners, we always take care of those we love. Hope you feel better soon, my dear.❤
Best wishes on a speedy recovery Morgan.
Hope you feel better Morgan!
I was going to say that sick or not the chores have to be done.
As my mother used to say “ I’m sure you will live “
You sounded stronger as you progressed. I knew from the outset that being around your friends would cheer you up and be a source of strength to you.
The animals were very happy to see you with their food, water and pets. Take care of yourself, you earned it.
I have the same bug. I'm sitting here feeling cruddy watching Morgan work while feeling cruddy. May we both feel better quickly.
