- Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (PC - Steam) Boss Battles (No Damage, No Subweapons, Veteran, Zangetsu only). Played by ArekTheAbsolute. It is 2018 the 8-bit style Castlevania-like game promised as a stretch goal of the 2015 Kickstarter campaign for "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night."
Being Castlevania fan I could never ignore this game. So I decided to record some boss fights from it. In this video you will see every boss on Normal Mode without using any subweapons as well as not having any special skills on Zangetsu. It is the biggest reason I chose this difficulty instead of Ultimate. But don't worry, I made two more videos with boss fights from this game: one for Nightmare Mode using Miriam (no subweapons also) and another for Ultimate mode where I used fully powered Zangetsu (poor, poor bosses).
it sucks so bad that bosses is harder in Nightmare and Ultimate Mode, and yet Zangetsu isn't in Nightmare Mode and he is a god in Ultimate Mode XD.
I know why he is a god in Ultimate Mode. Bosses here are designed so that normal attacks doesn't reach their hitbox. You have to wait for a chance to reach the spot so that deal more hit ASAP. That's why your fight in final boss take very long since you can only landed 2~3 hits. Zangetsu's normal swing is just a straight line, while his charge attack covered a lot of range above him, plus his double jump, so ... just double jump and charge attack and there ya go XD

Playing this would probably result in a lot of grey hair for me. I got the boss down to nothing....boom - get hit with a suicidal attack...

The Final Attacks can't kill at all, except for one of them due to the possibility of being kicked off the edge of the stage, dodging them completely rewards you with a free 1UP though
Cloudmonkey, can't kill as in they didn't do any damage, or can't kill as in they do damage but in insignificant amount that could only kill you if yourself is in critical HP?
Kinda ruining the fun knowing that a Boss' supposedly final attack doesn't pose any threat at all, but tho in retrospect, that is~ the safest way to handle such mechanic, lol.
I think they do damage, but they physically can't killshot you, at 1 HP they just do nothing, just like Rondo of Blood, they're not meant to kill, but to be a little cherry on top of the boss(and fuck you out of a 1UP)

I loved the fact that every boss do a suicidal attack before dying, not just flounce and drop dead! More games should do that!

Never played a Castlevania game before so I wouldn't know. But I meant any other game, for instance Megaman could work, since all the bosses "explode" after being defeated.
SuperSylar Kinda cheap when you think about though...a parting shot you can't fight back.
If you take obligatory damage (and by chance "lose" the battle, having to do everything all over again), than yes, is cheap. But it isn't if you have the chance of evade or block damage, more like a reminder for you to be on your toes: "The battle is not over until the enemy was completely destroyed"
The final attacks can't even kill(except for one case where you can be tossed into a pit), dodging them completely gives you a 1UP though, in reference to Rondo of Blood, where doing the entire stage perfect gave a 1UP, and those final attacks were meant to steal it away from you
There's just so many things to say about that game! I love the Retro style, the music, the Castlevania vibe, the design...
I particularly like those boss final breath attacks!

The bosses give me the impression that they represent the 7 deadly sins. The first boss obviously represents gluttony, and the third obviously represents greed, bloodless represents lust. I beleive the sins that each boss represents in order are : Gluttony, Sloth, Greed, Envy, Pride, Lust and Wrath.

I didn't know you could miss align the 2nd boss trajectory when it tried to suicide kill the player but hitting it with Zangetsu's sword, I've always just jumped over it with Miriam's extra jump height.
So from what I've watched, this game is the lovechild of a threesome between Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, and Megaman. It looks awesome.
I'd pretty much just say a throwback to the original Castlevanias, never nears the difficulty of a Ninja Gaiden, though the bosses can be a bit more Megaman at times, I guess. In either case, it's a fantastic throwback, I enjoyed it start to finish.
I LOVE THIS GAME. It's hard for me to get into the latest games but this was a beauty! It plays just like Castlevania 3 (dare I say better). Well as a big retro Castlevania fan I'm very happy they made this and it shows cool ass retro games are still possible. Can't even believe this was just an extra from the kickstarter goal. I want more! They should do straight SOTN style next

Excellent form, as usual. This game is so awesome. It makes me feel all nostalgic inside and reminds me of how unforgiving, yet fair, a game like this can be. The final boss took me a few tries to learn the patterns too. Time for ultimate mode now!

Personally, I'd say it's because the boss attacks are telegraphed better. For some reason, the 2D games seem to telegraph attacks better.

Kinda reminds me of of Shovel Knight the way parallax scrolling backgrounds can overlap (14:41) and HUGE sprites, something the NES cannot do.
Kinda disappointing this ended up not being a prequel, as it stands at complete odds with Ritual of the Night, but still a great game.
What's amazing about this game, is that most of the bosses here inspired me to draw more grotesque and disturbing fantasy/Mechanical art! Sorta Tim Burton style.

Why does the Countess Bathory-esque boss summon parasols that only help you survive and attack her?
You would be unable to hit her with Zangetsu otherwise as she never comes down (you could hit her with the whip but not with normal attacks)
There is an extra boss if you play again in Nightmare Mode. It is Zangetsu corrupted by the dark orb.

I was skeptical at first with Bloodstained not having any of the lore of the Belmonts to back it up, but after playing Curse of the Moon, i instantly fell in love with this game characters. I'm hyped that it is not even the main game in the franchise, because the level of quality here is top-notch. Inti-creates has become one of my favourite game developers of modern days.
Am I the only one whose getting a weird feeling about that Bloodless Boss? The woman in the bathtub of blood?
I mean she was the first revealed boss of Ritual of the Night and she's appeared as the 6th boss of this game.
I feel like Bloodless supposed to be Bloodstained's version of Death... I dunno why, but she's revealed twice so she's not a one off boss.
Gremory is in RotN too, she appeared with Gebel. But CotM doesnt follow the story of RotN.

The final boss is easier than I realized. I got through a couple of these the first time by mainly spamming the wizard's homing missile lol.
I used the fire shield + vampire spam, to finish the first-half of the fnal boss.
The first half was pretty easy but I depended on luck for the boss to move somewhere convenient so I could finish it quickly. Fire shield helped partially in the second half but it ran out during the projectile attacks, so since I didn't know how to defend like Shadowserg shows I won with my team almost completely wiped out. I also didn't know that the fire attack on the ground only damages with the largest flame. What is vampire spam, flying around as the bat?

Valac is (or at least is named after and loosely inspired from) a demon from the Goethia. (As all bosses in this game are except for the phantom train and Bloodless (who is inspired from the old legend of the countess that bathed in blood instead), I believe).
That demon is described like an angelic child riding on a two headed dragon.
So they got rid of the child and took the two headed dragon concept and made it a dragon with two heads that can combine into one bigger. It is defintively a unique and cool design.

With exception of Bloodless and Glutton Train, the bosses are based in the 72 demons on Goetia. They are mentioned in the grimoire Lessey Key of Solomon

@@felipeconstantino9004 Idk about the origin of the Glutton Train but I do know that Bloodless is definitely a wink to the lady Elizabeth who bathed in the blood of young girls to keep her beauty. Scientific theories imply that it might be due to a genetic disorder, Porphyria to be more precise.
