When closing the rear hatch after rain it's quite noticeable that water gets behind the handle as when it lowers you have to watch out that you don't get a wet leg. After the recent heavy rain I'm now getting problems with the latch not opening so am convinced it's related to the ingress of water. Thanks for the video as it'll save me time when I decide to strip it all out to investigate.

Good video. Changed the micro switch, checked wires for power and checked the fuses but the actual latch still does not work, so this has been useful. Cheers, greetings from France! (Opal over here rather than vaxhaul but its all the same, other than the wheel being on the left lol)

That sounds very similar to my experience in the past. I'm visiting your country later this year! Glad the video was useful and good luck! 🙂

Hi do you perhaps know how to fix a faulty bonnet latch on a Corsa D?

Wicked video Neil, very concise and easy to follow.
My partner has a 1.4 ltr 2017 Corsa E eco flex that refuses to open (boot) everything else seems fine but I do not have a 'scooby doo' on how to open it and once I do can I follow your instruction or is it much different.
I haven't seen any locking replacement videos for the Corsa E, so if I can maybe try doing one myself to try to help others...
    Kind regards
    Shuggy

Heya and thanks for the kind words.
If you need to open the boot, on the inside of the rear hatch at the bottom left of the latch there should be a little button that you can push in. When you press it in, the boot latch should pop open and you should be able to get into everything from there :) Although yours is a corsa E, it should be quite similar from there. Best of luck!

Has fuse got to do anything with the latch not opening in the first place? If so where is the fuse that requires replacement?

    • @NeillWylie
      @NeillWylie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Heya. If it's not the central locking button needing pressed twice which is one of the first things I'd check, it can be one of the two glovebox fuses. It's always good practice to check those before replacing the latch.
      Glovebox fusebox listing:
      6 - 15A - Unlocking the luggage compartment
      7 - 20A - Central locking system
      Good luck!

Hey mate. Thanks for the video. I just tried to replace the lock and even though I can hear the sound when I click the lock/unlock of the car key, the lock does not open/close. Any tip? I thought it was a mechanical problem of the lock but with a new one it still does not work but the electric main lock system seems to be ok

I'm not gonna lie matey I don't think I can quite work that one out without being able to investigate the problem physically. The only thing I could really suggest is making sure that all of your electrics are solidly connected or that it isn't your micro switch in the boot handle that is goosed like mentioned at the end of the video. Sometimes the micro switches go when the car gets older.
Sorry I couldn't be more help with this one.

@@NeillWylie hey thanks. I did some diagnostics and the issue is with the Boot Handle Opening Micro-Switch. is this easily reparable? like DYI?

How do I know if it is the bootlarch problem or the microswitch that unlocks the boot latch? Been struggling to find out how to check both the switches the handle and the boot latch.
    Regards,

Hi and sorry for the late reply I never spotted it. I ended up opening both the microswitch and boot latch to test them but unfortunately cant remember for sure what I did to test them. For the boot latch, I remember that part of the latch itself was broken and for the microswitch I'm pretty sure I run a current through it and checked when Inclicked the switch if it completed the circuit or not. I apologise I don't remember better but the video was made at a time when I was having troubles with my memory due to health issues.

I've just had this problem with my daughters car.... it's worth using a multi metre on the switch to check first. With mine, it was the lock that was faulty, but the lock WILL NOT OPERATE, unless the boot is closed and properly latched. I assumed like a previous car I'd owned, the button would operate the latch ALL THE TIME, but it doesn't. So if the lock doesn't show signs of working whilst open, dont despair...I thought it was the wiring and started stripping the interior out.. wasn't until I'd given up, putting the car back together, that I discovered that it was actually working! 🙄😂
