Flathead are easily my favourite species . Also you’re a great teacher Roger❤
Glad you enjoy my content
Out having a session with a mate. Doesn’t get better than that. Fish or no fish.
I love all your vids but particularly like the ones with Lozza in them, he seems like an awesome bloke!
Edit: and you make a great team 😊
The colors of the vegetables are so vibrant.
Nice to see smelt colored Gulp! Minnows work down under, too. They catch everything! Tight lines, mates.
Spent my childhood from aged 9y.o. taking a 3.5M tinnie out from McCrae with my best mate Pete and we were aloud out to the second Pilots Mark which was about 500M of the beach in Port Phillip Bay about half way to the Chanel and in about 20M of water into of sand and we'd drift the sand base and know where the rocks and weed was. Fabulous fun that kids these days miss out on because or rules.
TH-cam suggested this channel a few weeks ago. I subscribed and have watched every episode since. Even the shorts.
Excellent, thanks ❤
@@RogerOsborneFishingYou're welcome Roger. Something bothers me though. I placed a comment three times about how not to compromise the taste of fish when cooked for eating. Why was that piece of well intended advice deleted three times?
@@reteipegal7690 hi mate, I haven't seen any of your comments come through, I have no idea? TH-cam tends to delete or shadow ban a lot of comments depending on the words used. The censorship is very strict. No one here deletes comments so please try again and I will keep an eye out for it?
@@RogerOsborneFishing Thanks Roger. They are getting more pathetic by the minute. I will place it again as a general comment.
Great Vid, I learnt lots thank you, yes Lozza us women enjoy a cleaner fishing with the plastics as well, but i myself do love a beach and fishing from them. I do miss my boat at times, love yer work .
Great episode Roger, good to see something different on ya boat. And of course lozza
Thanks, I enjoy my boat fishing but have been mainly on the beach lately!
*Epic mate* Absolutely loved it! What an amazing location!

Hi Murphy, you are most welcome 😊
@@RogerOsborneFishing me and my dad love your videos we watch you pretty much every day we go beach fishing a lot and you are very helpful to improve our beach fishing. 🐟
@@Murphyshephard23975 thanks mate, appreciate the support 🙏Glad to hear you're improving and enjoying your fishing!
Another great video Roger. Back to basics, which many fishos forget, but usually always produces fish. Poor Lozza...great net man though 🤣. I also love your etiquette. Most boaties don't care about the land based fishos. Well done again and looking forward to your next content. Tight lines ✌️
Love your long videos, but hate the shorts. Thanks for the exceptional content!
Thanks Pedro
So glad you dual rigged with the Taylor on the bottom. Great Video. Thanks
Great video again ,fish always find its way to u Roger ur a fish magnet or something . Lozza showing off some serious landing net skills amazing ,well done fellows
Thanks guys!! Awesome as always
Nice work Rog and Lozza!
Roger do you have a Minn Kota or a Watersnake electric motor to keep you on your course you can run it ohh your phone GPS. You can set it to drift and keep you in the depth without drifting into shallows.
Always look forward to an episode with lozza
Thanks Dylan, He's a great bloke!
Hi Roger, So a few beginner questions for you. My set up is a 7ft Rod, 2-4kg, 8lb braid, 10lb fluorocarbon leader. I'm land based fishing around Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. I've been using 2.5 inch SPs on a 1/6 or 1/8th jighead. Does the set up sound OK for Flathead? Thanks Evan
Spot on
Yep at Merricks and Flinders every time I've snorkel spearfishing the biggest Flathead are always in the first two metres of weedy water. It's always instantly shocking to become face to face with a 70cm female Flathead. Whoppers and where there is one there are more, 3 or 4 probably hunting pressing the minnows up against the shore and working as a team or predators first in best dressed.
Hi Roger, what rods and reels are you using?
Ya need some Sax Scent boys!😉🙃 Loving you vids !
Great idea!!
Hey Rodger been watching your videos for a long time, just wondering what sort of mic you use when making you videos
Hi mate thanks I truly appreciate the support! We use Rode mics, the exact gear is listed on my website under video production equipment www.rogersfishing.com/gear-resources
Thank you so much keep up the videos and in all seriousness, they make my day.
what gear are you using for these soft plastics
Hey Roger! Any suggestions for soft plastics in narrabeen lagoon?
Will be there on 17th
need an electric me old mate! Minn kota should sponsor you.
Yes I agree 😊
Where did you get your hat?
I want one I've only got a bunnings
Bream chewed up all the soft plastics, no bait left... lozza had a spare toe he didn't need.
Haha, I’m impressed you noticed! Lost it when I was 3. Cheers Loz
Hi Roger love your video as always and can you tell me what lozzo’s rod . It looks like he has a very soft tip
Hi Nelson, the rod I’m using in this clip is a Pflueger Trion XT one piece 1-3 kg ultra light rod (beautiful rod, hard to find). Cheers Loz
How not to loose the best taste of fish. Fish experience the struggle with the hook and line as natural behaviour. No stress occurs and no adrenalin is released. The moment the fish leaves the water, and is further kept in a box or a bag in the water, is the moment stress kicks in. Adrenaline starts being released into the bloodstream. The meat absorbs the adrenalin and it negatively changes the taste.
What I do is to not keep the fish alive; I deprive it of It's life even before removing the hook. Thereafter I keep it in a cool place.
Try this for yourself the easy way. Keep one alive in a fish box or bag in the water etc. Keep another one stress free as described above. When you fry them, compare the taste. It must be of the same species for obvious reasons.
What boat do you have Rodger ? - looks a great river basher ?
Quintrex Renegade 4.2 TS
Hi Roger, long time watcher first time commenting. I actually have a couple of questions for you; 1st I have noticed you never caught a pinky on any of your videos, is it because of where you live? And 2nd, I live in western suburbs of Victoria and I only ever caught pinkies with pilchard is that normal or I am just unlucky to catch anything else with pilchard and similar bait fish? Thanks
Hi Kingtigi, I do have a rock fishing video with pinkies(small Snapper) in it. Pilchards are a very good bait for Snapper in general but many fish like them including Flathead.
Flathead slime from its white guts skin is the antibody for the spike poison from the flathead Gill raker spikes.and barbs.
Flippen l e g e n d s !
The tecniche is the same for snook fishing
Okay, I believe that Snook are very popular
Rodger I hope you're using degradable soft lures as a small snapper swallowing the plastic lure it will remain in the stomach of the fish it won't ever be able to pass the soft plastics and eventually dies due to capacity in its digestive system being filled with plastic
Not YANK 😂😂😂😂
They just legal don't mean keep them , there a bit small mate
and if he gets a bigger one someone will complain that he should throw it back
this is why we have size limits and bag/limits
40cm is fine, we like eating them, thanks for watching!
Loza’s style is all wrong
Slow down loz
@@RogerOsborneFishing yep I agree - 40 to 50 cm is the best size for eating. Taste great and sustainable.
Flathead is defo one of my favourite fish 😊 thanks
Same here!
