I just bought this on your advice; it's my first pedal! And you were right: it's great for beginners because there is no mystery. Press a button or turn a knob and you instantly hear the change.
Great to hear Trace Elliot have pulled themselves out of the dry period and are once more make fantastic amplification products again, especially this and the Elf - no more players breaking their back for bass amps for class tones!
Totally enjoyed this review ... so much I went and bought one of these. And I agree. It sounds cool, it is useful, and it is fun to use. I particularly like its warm tubey tone.
@Anthony Farrish Yeah. Still love it. You definitely need an outboard overdrive or distortion with it though. I use a Darkglass Microtubes B3K. The only thing this pedal doesn't do well is drive, in my opinion. The rest is absolutely brilliant. Great recording tool too.
Gute Arbeit trace is back.
Oh this looks really cool. I know this video is a bit old by now. I've been looking at multi effects units. Can you do a review of the Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2?
OH snap! At the end of the video, I was about to research something else... until you hit me with the G&L L-1000! I have been dreaming about one of these basses to go with my SB-2 and it sounded incredible with the Transit B! Well done!!
Great review as always. Seriously considering pushing the button and buying one of these. Quick question though to yourselves or anyone else here. What is the onboard tuner like? I tune a 5 string flat with one of my bands and some tuners don't like the low tuning (B to A#) on the low string. Thanks in advance and keep the reviews coming (Trace Elliot 4 life)
I am thinking about getting it and also wonder about the tuner to tune half a step down with a 5 string. Did you get one in the end? If so, how is the tuner?
@@martymcfly8401 I didn't but I still want one! I also play a stepped down 5 string (Musicman Refex) with my covers band, so I would be curious could I lose my tuner and use the in-built one. I find many tuners don't cope with a half stepped low B (B flat). I found the Peterson Strobostomp HD tuner the best I've used so far for that string.
Looking for an all-in-one solution for recording bass at the moment, and this is very interesting. Love the TE tone (one of few solid state amps that can sound somewhat tube-like), and the compression feature is exactly what I need. Thanks for the review!
Wirklich gutes und umfangreiches Video! War sehr hilfreich, danke! :-) A seriously well made and quite encompassing review of the range of abilities of this fine hardware. Thanks guys! 👍 Really helped me with my decision as to what to buy!
Yeah, great pedal but I was enjoying the Entwistle-inspired bass, reminds me of the one the Ox played in the "Who Are You" video. Great video, thanks for posting!
yeah, the best gear was made in 1981 in Britain. - built like tanks and delivering around 2400 watts that would trip a 20 amp circuit breaker in a medium house in California.
Damn, this looks like a lot of bang for your buck. Was a bit sceptical when I first read about it, but it does seem to be everything I love about my Trace GP12 SMX stuffed in a preamp. Seriously considering to replace my SansAmp with this.
Did you get ND up switching? If so, which do you prefer? I have used my Sansamp non-stop since I got it, but the switchability of this pedal's really nice.
@@peadookie actually, no haha. Shifting priorities had me stacking up a bunch of guitar gear instead, but thanks to your comment I’m eyeballing this pedal one more haha. If you like your SansAmp been need more versatility in a pedal, I can recommend checking some of the programmable pedals. I got a SansAmp Tri AC for guitar, that also works surprisingly well for bass!
@@toonvank6165 awesome, thanks for the report back. Sorry for the typos - surprised you were able to decode my comment lol. If I upgraded it might be something like this or the Sansamp Steve Harris SH1 or a programmable bass driver. I love the Sansamp tone if you can't tell lol.
Late to the show, but as a newbie to longs for a good mix of function and simplicity and aesthetics, this pedals looks like a great option for me. That said, I'm still trying to figure out the whole preamp/amp thing and when and how to pair them with amps or "direct," etc. If anyone can help me understand this, I'd appreciate it! 1) Can the Transit B be run into a Trace Elliot Elf, or would that defeat the purpose of one or the other? 2) Along those same lines, if most of my time is spent playing "in the bedroom" through headphones or lower "bedroom" levels, is the Transit still a good option? I really love the all-in-one yet simple and minimalist nature of this thing. I'm looking to get a proper bass amp (again, just for personal, bedroom, non-gigging use) and I like the options available in this thing, afaict. Thanks!
Sure you can combine this pedal with the ELF, but the amp has a headphone out already fir silent practice. Maybe you don’t need this pedal at all at this point
This pedal sounds killer...hopefully I can negociate with my wife to get me one before the year ends. One question I had was regarding the unigain volume, how does this exactly work? This means, I can't raise the volume on my outputs (XLR, 1/4 unbalanced output)? Or how does it work? I am asking you this as at church, my DI preamp pedals - an Eden WTDI and a Hartke Bass Attack 2 (which would be replaced with this, hopefully) drive a dedicated powered speaker, which I currently have at the middle of the road in terms of input gain and output volume. The thing is...I wouldn't want to push it too much beyond what it currently is right now, as it could get distorted. But how could I know if the output is enough? Tricky question...but I would appreciate if you could clarify me on how the whole output volume works in this unit to see if it would be a proper tool for what I would neet it to be. Thanks a lot in advance for the answer.
I haven't had this pedal in my hands for a long time. Maybe ask this in a Trace Elliot Forum or directly to the company. Thanks for watching our videos :)
Was this preamp pedal connect to cabinet directly in this video or there was used an end amp as well? I mean for instance: Bass guitar -> Transit B pedal -> Trace Elliot Elf -> Bass cabinet.
I like both, for me it would depend on the kind of job. The Trace has more sound options but the bpa has a much more complex EQ. Usually I prefer things to be simple
Hey Gregor, thanks for responding and your explanation. I had already ordered a BPA 1, which I can pick up next week. And then suddenly I saw this upload of yours. So I started to doubt again, because I also like the Trace Elliot sound that I hear in the video. But the answer you gave convinced me again of my purchase, because I love the complexity :) By the way, thank you so much for the BPA 1 video because of that video I bought mine
Can't understand a word you're saying dude, no offense. We're looking for "tone "not "twoune." I will say Trace will not last long on the road, their pots are cheesy for what these units cost and sound about like an American Peavey.

Now that is a useable effect unit for bass ,especially with a decent compressor

Would you recommend this going into an AH400SMX?
Great review!
What is this Nice Bass that Lars used at the beginning of the Video? It sounds sooo good!!
Great Review by the way! ;)
I have a bass synth pedal that I use. Would I patch it going into it or after it?
Is it possible to use any of the functions as a boost?
What bass Is the first One?

I think I'm going to replace my BassFlyRig with this unit. The SansAmp stuff is a known sound, but the Trace sound actually comes through nicely.
Sitting next to my GP12SMX thinking there is no better, more useable bass amp ever made.

The pedal is going direct to the board or audio interface?
Yes, into the audio interface
Can i use this pedal as a amp head to connect to a cab ?
No, it doesn’t have a power amp
This? Or the b7k? Im so tempted on the trace
This is the better preamp, the B7K is clearly the better distortion.
what are we hearing in the mix, di out, mic, amp, speaker??
Just the DI out
why you don’t play bass on video?
Was this preamp pedal connect to cabinet directly in this video or there was used an end amp as well? I mean for instance: Bass guitar -> Transit B pedal -> Trace Elliot Elf -> Bass cabinet.
I realized just now that D.I. Post is used so it is probably not connected to an Elf.
One thing missing is an effects loop!...
Wonder what bass is this beauty ??? 01:00
That’s a sandberg Forty Eight
Merci beaucoup, Thank you.
8:14 "A little school girl who has just met Justin Biebs or whatever" HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
Could I gig with this running direct to the desk through the DI Out?
Yes
that sandberg bass alone sound amazing....
