Seeing Steve in the intro makes me miss him so much even though I only ever knew him through a few clips in your videos. Your combination of mechanical and editing skills constantly impress me, I can barely keep more than about 2 of my projects going at once and I don’t even do videos on them
I recently got lucky and scored a 1995 F-150 4x4, 5 speed, 302 for $500. They said it had transmission issues and sat for 12 years. Every time you let the clutch out it died. The parking brake was stuck on... It started right up. I gave it to my dad and he’s been daily driving it 50 miles for the last 3 months.
If your into it pull those injectors . I had the same issues rust plugged the little screens in the injectors . blew out with some brake clean solved my issue .
On the flareside, dump the injection system and put a carb and points dizzy on it. That would have solved your running issues, then you could implement the "tree and chain" frame straightening technique!
Don't know if you come back to comment sections, but here goes. It is extremely common for Injected 300-6 trucks to eat injectors and do what you showed with the plugs. If you swap them, double check the harness and replace the entire set in one go.

Pity about f150 flareside man tho where do you stop ? If we can get that old girl flatbed f150 that be better save as she is siiting in the elements needing rescued 👍 and have you tried keeping revs up a bit and tapping injectors on flareside sometimes it helps maybe bit crap built up on atomizer ano rame out but for sake of engine? lol be well brother see you on.next one!👍
I think flatesides are cool! Now that truck would be perfect to swap a years matching 460 big block and bolt it to the 5 speed in it. It’ll be a torque monster
Pull some sea foam through a vac line while hot smoke and hot soak. Pull the same through the fuel rail as well. When running sounded like a fuel issue
I would say check your injectors cuz I my 87 cherokee number 6 cylinder sometimes the injector acts up or the Plug Uglies and I'll be missing like that
On my brothers 5.0 had the fuel gummed up the valve springs check them I’m working on a Cummins swap rn crewie and my brother had pulled the 5.0 and swapped in a 351 then a couple days ago the flex plate shorn at the crank got it put back together today
Next time you do something like this get some seafoam or Berryman (same thing just cheaper) or techron and either throw it in the tank or throw it down the carb, intake tube and help free up everything
Oddly enough, the idea has been presented to me to bring to girlfriends truck out as a project for the channel. Convert it to 4x4, put Flareside bed on it and let our daughter drive it.
@@misfittoys8883 That sounds like a great idea . Ive had several of those body style trucks and when their fixed up their great rigs . Im also partial to the 70's model trucks too . In my opinion the best body styles ford made.
Fuel injected engines will not run right without the air cleaner and the map sensor the map sensor will tell the computer there is a big air leak and it will not run right
I tried switching out the MAP sensor for a known good one-no difference. This truck has the speed- density EFI and should run without the air filter/ ducting. The newer mass air EFI systems are the ones that wont run properly with duct removed because the airflow sensor is right next to filter
Not to take from the content, because it was awesome, but 2 things…. What happened to Steve?, and I’m surprised how many guys I see working with hood strings. Have to ever seen one get caught in a pulley or belt? It’s real bad news .
Dont know why he died. He seemed fine when I got home from work in the morning. Found him under edge of deck in the early afternoon. Looks like he just laid down and peacefully slipped away. You are totally correct about the hood drawstrings. I have snagged them on plenty of things and think to myself how I should lose them before they get into something that is moving. Then I forget the thought 3 seconds later untill the next time one of them snags something
I don't think that's going to work I think you got a drill the actual guts out of the cylinder key and in that panel drop-in you got a drill where the key goes
I might consider selling the one in the vid, but as I tried to show, the frame is severely bent/bowed. Thats the only Flareside truck I have at themoment
Did you ever get this truck running right or fix the girlfriend's 1996? I would put the two trucks into one with the best of both to make your Flare Side truck.
@@misfittoys8883 keep us updated on this. I have a 95 Flare Side 5.8L that I'm going to 'merge' with a 97 F350 PSD. It'll be a Flare Side PSD 4X4 with solid axels, probably graft the F350 front frame 'nose' to F150. F350 is a rot box from fire wall back.
Not shure. When I came home from work he seemed like his normal self walking under my feet in the dark and tryingvto sneak into house. Found him dead under the edge of deck later in day. Like he just laid down and slipped away

How about a frame and a V8 swap in the step side. I like those trucks as well and it would be a shame to see it rust away.

good video thats the first inline 6 flareside i have ever seen!
Starting fluid would help a ton. Love the flareside

An interesting theory, but I would think the compression check I did would not have come out as well with some valves sticking
You should use that 4x4 f250 you got running the other day that's a nice truck
Liked the video.
Makes me want to drag my flareside 4x4 351w out to play again
Wow big surprise
i like option 2 but im also a sucker for the 78/79 trucks
Good to have options !!!!
I need those runninbords
She looks like mine did when I got her, is it Electric Current Red
Misfit Toys you gained a new sub run some Seafoam through the fuel system
them old fords are great trucks
Indeed they are.
Next time you do something like this get some seafoam or Berryman (same thing just cheaper) or techron and either throw it in the tank or throw it down the carb, intake tube and help free up everything
Drop a can of Berrymans down in the tank and let it run a while and it may clean out the injectors
Not a bad idea. I have been kicking around the idea of a part two
Sense you like the flair side bed . Swap it onto your girlfriends truck . Kinda take both trucks and build one good one.

Wonder what you would have to do to ship an engine if you were to sell one
Never gave it any thought. Drain fluids and strap it securely to a pallat at a minimum I would guess. Might even have to build a crate for it.
Need a better engine for my truck that is why I was asking
Yeah you are probably right probably would have to do that
Where were you located again? Virginia wasnt it?
896 old route 38 Fayetteville West Virginia 25840
Ya may want to check the cadillac converter
Was already removed. Assumably when someone added the custom conduit dual exhaust
