Rob Pincus got an exclusive chance to try out the new Springfield Armory XD Mod 2 handgun a few weeks before it was released to the public. This new compact defensive handgun dramatically improves the ergonomics of an already great pistol with new contouring and Gripzone™ textures. In this video, Rob describes some of the features of the Mod 2, compares it head to head with the original XD on the range and tests it for reliability with defensive ammunition. Rob also gives another shooter a chance to run the Mod 2 through some drills with the Jedburgh Target System.

Only Boyd Crowder could use more words but good review. I'll be keeping my XDs with grip tape on it. For carrying everyday I want the single stack. These guns are not about being pretty and sexy but they do shoot more like a full size inside 15 yards. New grips remind me of a shield. Volume was very hard to hear.

I love my XDS 3.3 9mm, but I can't use SA full size guns. They smash my first thumb knuckle (at the hand webbing) VERY BADLY. No other full size firearm does that, only the XD and XDM's. When looking closely at all the firearms I've used, I notice that the XD/XDM have a very short beaver tail and it's fatter (vertically) than the others. This appears to be why they DESTROY my first thumb knuckle. I'd love to shoot XDM's, but it will never be. Wish they could do something about that. The M&P is the best feeling in the hand, no doubt.
I just wish they were made in the U.S.
The reason why they are made in Croatia is that they are also designed and developed in Croatia by HS-Produkt.
Springfield is just a marketer, which gives market feedback to the Croatian designers and producer.
Idk why firearm companys feel they have to put freaking bill boards on guns. I hate the way this gun looks

Personally, I find them both really great looking, particularly the new Mod.2.
