Hi everyone! This tool is an absolute gamechanger for me (I've mapped it to SHIFT+F on my keyboard) - let me know what you think about it in the comments below! :)
Justin, thank you so incredibly much for this tutorial. I was hoping something like this existed- lattice maker seems great but the offset both sides function at 4:11 in s4u extension is a GAMECHANGER. Saves so much time. Also the floor plan door scenario was a great tip I never would have thought of that. Thank you!!
One the best services you provide Justin. Never heard of this tool set. Offset is a goto for me in cabinet production and I always snag on the exact problems you illustrate here. Looking forward to using this tool.
For making cabinet doors/cabinets use either S4U PANEL plugin (the method that type of furniture is used to be designed) or native FLIP tool ( needs little extra steps but absolutely free).
Whats up guys Justin here with theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesktchupessentials
It's a shame s4u has stopped selling perpetual licences. Im at a point now where I refuse to add another subscription to my ever-growing list unless it provides me with a real economic benefit. I really appreciate plugin creators who develop a product and then offer it for a one off purchase. At $39 a year that's about 1/8th the price of the price off an actual Sketchup subscription- for just a hand full of tools. Imagine if all plugin creators charged as much- my annual cost of Sketchup would be over a grand!
@@Thesketchupessentials The point at which the cost of the plugin is obviously less than the value of my time. I can see how s4u's plugins can be time savers but as with all modelling softwares there are many ways to achieve the same thing and I can see many ways to achieve the same things with either native tools, already existing free plugins or plugins that are a one off purchase. Sure, I might save 1 seconds here, 2.5 seconds there, but Im not going to pay $39 every year for tools I may use a couple of times per week or even a couple of times per day. But in saying that I'd be happy to pay twice or maybe three times the cost the annual subscription cost of a plugin to actually own it knowing that it won't be an added to the growing pile of annual costs extracted from my account every year. Kudos to s4u, he has created some great plugins and skp would be nothing without people like him. If he is selling more plugins through the subscription model then it makes sense for him but Im sure I speak for many when I say “dude, just let us have the option of handing over some dosh up front, we are not playing this subscription game!”
I'll say what I always say - I support your right to refuse to pay subscriptions, and I support the developer's right to charge whatever they want for what they worked on. For me, considering how it benefits my workflow, $0.75/month for just S4u offset is a STEAL, and I'm happy to pay it to support the developer if nothing else. That's just me though
@@Thesketchupessentials I totally support a developers right to charge whatever they want to charge and however they want to charge - by supporting developers (with money) we all benefit. We're just saying, as customers, we are getting pretty tired of the subscription model and if developers want to maximise sales they might want to consider their customers payment preferences or at least give both options. Anyway man, cheers for the vids. See you on the next one ✌
This looks like a nice upgrade from the native offset - it would be even better if it had the option to delete the original lines so there would be less cleanup
For cabinet doors s4u Frame is better, you just have to play with the settings, I have a screenshot that works for me, but way faster is Emboss from DBUR, but that one crashes SU (at least for 2022).
Interesting - I'll give it a look - I hadn't thought about s4u Frame for cabinet doors. That emboss is definitely interesting - thanks for the heads up!
II think as digital creators we should say no to subscription. I don't want to pay for the same thing over and over again. This 5$ this is 10$ that one is 20$ and suddenly your spenind 200$ every year o these.. I try to avoid any subscription I can. I really enjoy seeing all these plugins but tbh, I do most of the modeling manually. If I'm do interior I need the windows to be so finely detailed they have to be manual but then I just copy it around.. if I'm doing an urban exterior nobody notices that double thickness from the offset. Either way not a big deal.
I suppose this is different for everyone depending on your situation - if you've got more time than money, it's probably less valuable. With the amount of time I waste messing with cabinets/windows, I will HAPPILY pay $9/year to make that faster. Realistically, I'll pay $39/year just to get access to Offset, Stair, and Frame. If it saves me a single hour its paid for itself. That said, I try to cover both paid and free on the channel as much as I can

I have seen this problem for a long time and was looking for an extension that does not make a double frame. Thank you very much.
Totally - both the offset tool and the frame tool are AMAZING for this

Agreed - that would be a nice additional feature
HEY CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT KMZ FILES IF ITS POSSIBLE TO USE THEM INSIDE SKETCH UP OR IF WE HVAE TO TRANSFORM INTO ANORther TYPE OF FILE
