Hi Terry, thank you for the details about Puerto, I'm heading down from Tuesday March 15 for a few weeks to check things out, would you mind if I look you up?

I live in Puerto and my house has had no damage from any of these shakers. I was also born and raised in Los Angeles so used to shaking. Older parts of Oaxaca have had damage and it’s what we learn to live with here in paradise.

What does it cost per month in American dollars?

Yuri, it all depends on what part of town you are living, whats included in your rental deal, how many times a week you eat out, how much you travel. Bottom lines the base numbers in the article are very accurate. Again prices in this town are all geared to the locals and not to tourists and gringos. Terry Gusto

It was interesting to watch this video from the perspective of a newbie here. We shall soon be featuring Puerto Escondido in our own travel series after our last stay in in Playa del Carmen.

Ok. Now it's March 2018 and strong earthquakes have recently rattled that area and minor ones occur everyday. What can you tell us about that?

Hello Terry, We are hoping to retire in Mexico. Our daughter and grandson will be moving with us. Our grandson will still be in elementary school. He does not speak Spanish. Are there many private international schools in Puerto Escondido? Are there many young families there? Thank you for your help!

hank you for your great interview Terry. Too bad that highway between Oaxaca City is not yet completed. I hear they are getting close and it will happen. I am retired 70 year old looking for where to spend my finale years. I have been traveling Mexico for 18 Months and now staying in Puerto Madero (near the Guatemala border) for the last 4 months. I drove south from Nogales, Sonora hugging The Sea of Cortes coastline and Pacific Ocean coastline until I arrived hear. I loved Mazatlan

All neighborhoods are local. You have a building scattered around that has some xpats in it or a house here or there but most everything is local. I don’t consider this an xpat or tourist gringo run town. My email is tbgusto@sbcglobal.net. Mail me when you show up and I will show you around and introduce you to a couple of rental people that have been here for years and can show you lots of choices based on your budget, how close to the beach, etc, etc. Terry

Too humid for me in Mazatlan, Too busy in Acapulco. Puerto Vallarta too touristy. Puerto Escondido and Mazunto was was much more to what I was looking for. I was wondering if you could recommend a neighborhood where I might find a a private room with private bathroom where I would live with the locals and not with expats I am on a limited SS income. Please know I will very much appreciate a response. I speak Spanish fluently. Are your apartments available.

@@MAGRIPPA1 I love smaller cities. At 25 I wanted the hustle and busy but at 50, I put a premium on my peace. Different age different needs. I used to a child abuse investigator in a mega city...the hardness of people, the traffic, the pollution etc..Been there done that....but if I was in my 20s I'd feel different.
