What a coincidence! Four years ago I joined up with North Cascades Institute for Leadership training and we got to work with the USFS on making those exact tent pads on Anderson Point!

Hahaha! Back story, im searching for "kayak camping in wa" as im researching the islands for this summer and stumbled on this video. My history with this camp spot I can't put into words. Ive been coming here for YEARS and to me and all my friends has always been known as the "secret spot". However, the last 3 years or so its been getting more and more attention for whatever reason...YOU must be the reason! I kid, I kid, but seriously, as someone who has lived here for a long time and camped in more places than most, I can tell you its top 5. Its not just for the views, not just for the seclusion, not just for the epic toilet and bear boxes...but the effort to payoff ratio. Its insane, 1.5 miles with a few hundred elevation change and BOOM Mt baker in ya face with a side of lake reflection. Its where Ive taken all of the "ive never been backpacking" people and sets a FIRE in them to continue because of the experience and its EPIC-ALITY? EPIC-NESS? Nouns....am I right!?!?!. In the spring before the snow melt the lake is so low that all the old exposed trees and root structures are out and I call them tree spiders...if there was a way to post pics I would but its insane. Anyway...im drunk looking for kayak camp spots in the san juans and stumbled on this and so happy that you enjoyed "the secret spot". Have an incredible life! (did you hike to the hot springs while you were there as well?)

Mt. Baker view from the campground on the Baker Lake looks gorgeous!! I camped at Baker Lake last year, and will camp at the different area in the lake this year... I'd like to backpack the spot in the future! Thank you for sharing.

Awwee man, the secret is now out. Someday I hope the kiddos in my life realize how blessed they are that Baker Lake is basically in our backyard and they have spent their childhood camping, hiking and even their first overnight backpacking trip in this amazing area =)

First off, the kiddos in your life are some of the luckiest kiddos in the world if they grew up camping at Baker Lake! Such a great place. I was hesitant to put this video out, but then I realized.. people in general are lazy. haha. getting to this campsite takes a bit of work and most folks won't deal with it. So I think it will be a secret special spot for a while. haha.

Sad the homeless and irresponsible have started to ruin these places. Camping sites closing left and right at Baker due to the amount of trash and destruction. Enjoy it now before its lost forever. Because its coming.

Baker lake is one of the most heavily trafficked trails around the area . it's pretty foolish to pretend no one knows about it. people take their boats across the lake to avoid the hike. it's been like that for years.
