    Wilder impressed me with the short check hook on the back foot which he was practicing in training and that should silence those who says he can't fight going back. I'm English and he's my favourite heavyweight at present regardless of who he's fighting.

      Deontay is great fun to watch, has a chance at anyone, with that shotgun right, but i always wanted to see a more mature game out of him, which i thought i saw flashes of against Fury 3, and briefly with Helenius. Love Fury, but i almost always root Canada, to Argentina, first, and i really wanted wilder to knock him, and draw a fourth fight. I still think Wilder could get a fourth, if the two of em clear out the rest of the top, and bring the belt back. It'd be a pyrrhic vic, folk would say they were past prime, or something, but it'd be a great story for wilder, and USA boxing.
      Tyson fury has definitely chiseled his name on to the wall of greats, already, but I'm glad he returned, thought it's concerning when you hear he still gets so depressed. I still think he would have the fourth with deontay, soundly, not sure anyone will succeed in dethroning him before 42. If anything, minding that chisora looked faded, Fury looked peak, and his next opponent ought have a lucky charm in mind, hoping to land the belt wining wallop.

    Wilder reminds me of a guy I played American Legion Baseball with . He was about 6'5" 190 lbs. I'd describe him as lanky and lean . He could generate immense power in his swing , much more than our 6 foot 230 lb catcher who had muscles bulging . He could also throw 93 - 96 mph with little apparent effort . Its the guys with long limbs that generate power because of leverage. Muscle bulk has little to do with the kind of power needed to throw a punch or throw a baseball.

      Wilder has fought at 220lbs to 228lbs his heavyweight career. In the second Fury fight he came in at round 238lbs and about 234 the last fight. His weight jump wasn't that significant if you look at how much weight Fury came in also in the second fight. The most significant difference in the last fight is Wilder's gas tank. Fury had much more endurance and Wilder was spent. Tyson Fury came into the fights with more endurance despite looking like a plump turkey on Christmas morning. You can argue Tyson Fury was gifted with height, a mouth and endurance and Wilder was gifted with height, an athletic body and raw power.

    Helenius said before the fight that Fury had shown they key to beating Wilder, and on the night he tried to emulate Fury, but he didn’t study close enough. Fury kept Wilder at range and put him on the back foot with feints and jabs. He only unloaded on Wilder while Wilder was actually moving back, and then grabbed him and leaned on him before he could compose himself; but when Wilder was actually on the ropes, Fury was standing off and picking his shots, not wading in and exchanging with him. He sensed how dangerous Wilder could still be, on the ropes. Helenius was too careless, standing in front of Wilder & putting his head within range in that situation. He also doesn’t have the speed and reflexes to fight Fury’s kind of fight. But Helenius is a genuine guy and a warrior, I hope he fights again because after giving 25 years to the sport he at least deserves to go out in a win. As for Wilder, it’s great to see him back in the mix. He’s received a lot of criticism over the years but even after his 3rd defeat to Fury, I said that he will always have dynamite in his hands which brings suspense to any fight with any opponent, however good they are.

  • @dh3824
    @dh3824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In the third Fury fight, Wilder got gassed mainly because he started winging all his punches. After the 2nd Fury knock down, Wilder chased hard for the KO. The extra muscle didn't help with energy management but swinging wildly doesn't either. If you watch the fight again, Wilder was super composed and patient before the knock downs. Big kudos to Fury for weathering that hell storm. He was definitely on Q-street, defending on pure instincts for a while. Great fight.

      I thought it looked suspect too, and the reason I suspect is because of Wilders 22nd pro fight with Jesse Oltmanns, if you watch the slow motion on the big screen behind wilder (along with the crowd booing), you clearly see the punch miss and Jesse takes the dive with the ref ready to waive it off instantly. My point is that Wilder does have a history of match fixing.
