this is an incredible lesson. I play bass in my church and even though the songs are pretty standard when it comes to composition, I like to spice things up with phrasing my melodies. Most of that comes from following the vocals. It's very close to what you're teaching here and I didn't even realize it! Great video and thanks for what you're doing!
Great job on your lesson about phrasing and also how to make your Pentatonic scale sound colorful by adding 2 notes 👍! Charlie, how about a tutorial on making your Pentatonic sound even more colorful by adding Mixolydian and Diminished scale? Maybe a simplified explanation? Keep up the good work 👍! 🎸
I thought i'd post this link if it's ok for you to review on how a Pentatonic scale might sound like once someone has grasp of combining different scales, like this kid .. Thank you. th-cam.com/video/j8OsuhTDufw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ohmlEJVG-n2yObDG
Vocal melody lines are what we naturally key in on as players and when its an awesome line we want to try to play that on the guitar. I was watching some old film of Mayhalia Jackson live and she had this one awesome line, i had to find that on guitar.
it was some old thing i think was with louis armstrong at a jazz festival? she was wearing something frumpy looking and looked like a gong show thing but half way through it it was serious blues/gospel thing. blew me away@@CharlieLongGuitar

Michael Schenker comes to mind when I think of melodic rock guitarists.

Steve Vai & Joe Satriani constantly "exploit" these "target note" techniques in their phrasing.
@@lloydsarnowski6986 right on!!! 🎸🔥🎶
She has a nice voice. Although her songs really blow...
