Great video Chooch! Thank you for stating the importance of proper safety gear. As a 53 yr old rider of motorcycles, Onewheels and EUC's, (who also happens to be retired Law Enforcement) I've been wearing ALL the protection including the yellow safety vest. I love riding, and not being able to ride because of injury, sucks!!!...not to mention all the pain and money in can cost. I agree that cops and other drivers will give you more respect and leeway because you're trying to be safe while having fun. I'm not so concerned how I look when I'm enjoying the hell out of my wheels. Besides, I get plenty of compliments and thumbs up from other drivers , motorcyclist and riders.😎 We want to grow the sport and keeping ourselves out of hospitals is a good way to go. "Everyone must choose one of two pains... The pain of discipline or the pain of REGRET"
Ha, you kids crack me up. I ride a much slower wheel but I ride a lot and I'm 73. The little kid in me wants a faster one now but I don't bounce like I use to. Follow the fun.
I'm almost 17 and a half gonna receive my Sherman soon. kinda ironic to start off with the most epxensive, one of the biggest (behind the gotway mosnters), and one of the fastest EUC's as someone who's never stepped foot onto any PEV in my life, esp hovberboards, e-scooters, boards, bikes.
Great video Chooch. You do a service to the EUC community by practicing safety. Other riders, particularly new riders, see what you're wearing and hopefully it rubs off on them. I still can't get myself to wear the safety vest, but I respect you for always using it. And who knows, maybe I'll get one eventually :-) After messing up my arm and shoulder during a faceplant a couple of months ago (my shoulder is still damaged), I am now riding with shoulder protection all the time. You can get some nice jackets with the shoulder and elbow protection built-in, and they don't slide around on you.
ElectricUnicycles crazy a lot of euc riders don’t gear up till they fall and eat it. I was the same thought I was invincible until I smashed my face and hands in New Jersey like 4 hours away from home. Now I wear everything. And trying to convince my buddy to do the same.
@@electrocycle6560 I have a feeling most of us have to experience a bad injury first. But maybe if there are enough of us riding geared-up, it'll have a positive effect and people will gear-up from the beginning. I think the trend is in the right direction.
Appreciate that Marty, I have been eyeing one of those body armor suits; they look like they would work very well. That would be the best solution to keeping the pads where you want them and prevent the sliding around problem. Cheers! Super jealous of that excellent weather you are having down there in SoCal right now, just rode to campus in 10 degree weather with black ice everywhere.

I do kiting with a mountainboard. Fell more than 100 times from 2006 till now. Elbow protection helped me in about 80% of my falls. I wear kind of long elbow protection from elbow almost to my wrist. This system prevents from twisting and sliding off.
Maybe think about forearm protectors. They stay in place and help with skids plus help protect elbows, unless you go down hard right on the elbow. Just an extra level of safety. Awesome vid my friend.

Hey, I like your point about the yellow vest being good for police recognizing that you are safety conscious. That’s a great point. Never thought of it. Thanks for this video.
I use integrated protective jacket. Spine, chest, shoulders, elbows + reflective. Otherwise it's too many things to put on. Knee pads are always on of course. Now looking for a jacket that has wrist guards in it, but there doesn't seem to exist any of such kind. The goal is to contract everything to three (possibly two) simple actions. 1-2-go! Basically, when a rider is approaching motorcycling speeds, one should be protected similarly. Safe rides, folks!

Great video Chooch, I spent more money on my safety gear than on my wheel. I’m like you, I love fast riding and all it takes is one fall to ruin the fast riding experience. I buy dirt bike and super bike gear. The wheels are getting faster and you can easily wipe out on a super bike going over 100 mph and survive. I have confidence in the gear that I use now that I changed from trying to minimize damage to my body to now that I counteract the fall because of the confidence I have in my safety gear. One piece of gear that I love are my Knox Handroids for $270 because my hands are going to play an important part in reducing the fall. I feel in a fall the hands hit first, then face then shoulders. Thank you for all your videos.
chooch tech, I bet you that if I fall that 70% will be on my hands. I watched the video Wraith wheel on Alien rides and he had nice safety gear. I noticed his gloves. They were Knox Handroids. I watched TH-cam videos on the gloves and so I bought a pair. One guys had a accident going 112 mph, his Knox Handroids were wrecked but his hands and wrists were fine. I wear a large but the Handroids were to tight so I returned them and bought the XL and they fit perfect and they feel like your skin, I mean your hands feel so good wearing them. I’m not afraid to use my hands to stop my fall. If you have a bike shop near you go try them out. You’ll be amazed.
I had my knee pads in the car. Had a knee replacement a few months ago. On my Tesla. Took to sharp of a right turn scraped the pedal hard.
