10 runs at 1:6390 is not equivalent to 1 run at 1:639. this is not how probabilities work, otherwise all you would need to get a tal armor would be to run pindle 6390 times. Chances of getting a given item of X chance to drop (here 1/6390) is : 1 - (chance to not get it) = 1 - (1 -X)^(number of runs) On a low number of runs odds will roughtly looks the same but as soon as you start doing a lot of them, you'll notice the difference : if you were to run 6390 pindle, your maths would guarantee you a tal rasha armor, while in reality you have still 36.79% chance to not have drop any tal armor after 6390 pindle runs.
The more important thing to keep in mind is that pindle can be run at the same speed with much more inferior gear than it takes to grind through baal runs which means baal runs for most leveling characters are much slower. Pindle is still the better bet.
For Baal you head to your character's right from the waypoint and to their left upon entering WSK level 3. You should find the throne room in 10-15 seconds.
Somewhat similar when farming Andariel as well. The entrance to the third level is almost always on the right side of your character when they exit the waypoint. Finding the fourth is a little more random, but it's easy enough as a Sorceress.

@@zagato77904 4real. I think it's dumb as fuk. I'll get kicked and still suffer the penalty of having to wait to rejoin. Even had a hardcore character died while loading an area in. It sucked to restart from level 38 but not as bad as the twitch clip of of a guy losing a lvl 80 character.
another thing to take in consideration is that worldstone keep and throne of destruction is a lvl 85 area, so it can be a nice idea to clear your way to baal while you do the runs
I so much prefer any other areas 85 to farm... WSK is just damn awfull with level 2 being almost always covered with Gloams or cold immune crap and level 3 with the same issues (shooting witches, cold immunes etc). I just skip all of it expect for champ/unique packs
What I love about all of these guides.. they all are fully geared characters already.. no one bothers to do a guide for people who have 0 magic find or who don't have all this GG gear LOL.. yeah show people what they can't have because they are not endgame geared.. most people watching this guide probably cannot kill hell baal.. or even do their own hell ancients..
Best way to find anything is pick the content your character clears faster with the most mf. Get the loot. Then go to trade and get what you want. Targeting a specific item with such low drop rates is just nonsense.
Today i was running the mausoleum in hell for my first time trying to get the MonarchShield and tal armor dropped for me after killing the first elite pack!
i've found mine last week. farmed all the high lvl areas with no luck. so i started to farm some odd places like swampy pit,red portals in act 5,drifter cavern,icy cellar and so on. it dropped in infernal pit. :)
I found the amulet from a random mob with 0% mf in stony fields. Just look at the drop chances for that in that area. lol RNGesus is just the biggest troll.
I think the amulet is just a random chance to be tal from any set amulet. In vanilla d2lod, i got tal amulet for normal diablo. The trick to finding anything: the more you kill in a period of time, the higher chance to get something. Doesn't have to be just bosses.

Green lacquered plate dropped for me today during the last minion wave before Baal. Love it. The 3-piece set is so nice for mf. Also found green sacred armor at Pindle today. Really lucky start of the week.
The real answer is pindle until you farm enough gear to be able to do a deathless baal consistently. Pindle just dies. Baal and his minions are a different ball game. He can do baal in 4 minutes but you might not. It all depends on gear
Pretty much every D2 guide ever just leaves this out sometimes I wonder who these videos are for. If you're new to D2 and trying to find this stuff you have no clue that it drops on certain difficulties these videos assume you know all that which wouldn't make sense for you to watch it. There's basically a huge gap in D2 content from heres the gear you need before level 10 to okay here's how you farm hell baal. I've played the game so I know why they all just auction house the stuff but if you're on console/new you can't/don't have interest in just gold farming gear so no one tells you anything about the game it's just from start to play Uber runs now.
I really appreciated the breakdown of time vs odds. a bliz sorc is really a good option for running this, though wave 2 is a real pain in the neck. the only thing I can add is WSK is a 85 area so if you roll up on a unique pack on your way down that isn't cold immune its worth taking a couple seconds to pop them. its not a very good odds, but most of the Tal's armors I have dropped over the years have been off uniques in the 85 areas.
Blizz sorc is awful for this run purely because of the immunes. There are two situations it fails. First is the cold spike throwing skeletons that will chill your merc and cause you to take 5 minutes waiting for him to jab them all as they run away and keep him chilled. The next is the last wave can be Fire/Cold immune and the champ has a knockback and stun which will cost you all your full rejuvs before he dies. You will either lose your merc or end up going back to town every 30 seconds. This is what ultimately sent me back to being hybrid. A good meteor is as good for hell cows as Blizzard, but its just awful with the delay on initial hit (blizzard hits immediately). However using it as a main skill with Fireball and using Frozen Orb for fire immunes is way better for completing more content overall even if some of it is slightly slower.
This math is off and I'm glad you mentioned Gambler's Fallacy. Unfortunately with random being random, every single run is 1 in 6390, even with the implied odds reducing the value. That is except in one case. There is a way to reduce the odds further. If you drop Sigon's chest and Rattlecage in the same game, then if another Gothic Plate drops as set quality, it will be guaranteed Tal's Guardianship. However the odds of that are minimal when target farming bosses. This is why target farming rare sets/uniques is better if you completely clear every area in all acts.
If they make people wait over 20 minutes, they should probably have the first boss you kill have a quest drop forced on it. So not like you're getting a free unique, but the chance for it is increased. Should make most fans look forward to waiting equally as much as not waiting
@@zergslayer69 no. you just need to open the game with the char that hasn't killed baal. then you leave it and enter with your other char from the same account that is strong and got lots of mf. you can cheese a questdrop from all bosses like that. however you can questbug andy anyways so it's pointless with her since you'll always have questdrops. i always do it. takes a few seconds to do and gives you far better chances of soj drops on nightmare and also better chances for good drops like shako and so on in hell. got my 2 soj's and 2 tal amulets from nm andy and 1 tal amulet and a shako from hell andy. only tal piece i didn't find yet is the armor. but i don't really care for the tal set anyway. i only keep the amu till i get a mara or good rare one and shako, occy and arach are just far better. and for armor i have an upped viper with a ptopaz. but would really like to make coh. however that needs a ber and the first 2 bers will go into infinity.

@@zergslayer69 you go to lobby and create a game and name it whatever and make whatever password. then you leave and join that game with your mf char. the game doesn't close right away when you leave it. it will stay open for a while so you can join with another char. that's how we used to mule items around in d2 classic.

Well, not exactly. If you didn't get it on first run the probabilities of getting it on the second run is 1/6390 but what he means here is having gotten it after two runs which is 1/6390 + (6389/6390 * 1/6390) which equals to about 1,99984.../6390 so almost twice as much.
I have lucked into 2 of these in the last week. First was from a random mob with my wind Druid play through in hell Frozen River on the way to Anya. Second was off a random mob in the Chaos Sanctuary with the same Druid.
The math is incorrect, magic find percentage is only towards finding magic items. The effective magic find when looking for set pieces at 300 is actually 180-200%. Check out the magic find graph for uniqes and set items if you wanna re-calculate.
I found mine at the armor rack to the left of meph on hell. Also found a Lo rune in chest behind him before that. Always check those chests and racks. In fact those are my best find from meph, didn’t even come from him…
No one here questions how you calculate the probability? No matter how many times you run pindle, the probability of the armor dropped from pindle is ALWAYS 1:6390. Even if you farmed pindle 6390 times, it won't gurantee (meaning 100%) you the drop. It's still possible that you don't get the armor after you farm pindle 6390 times.
While it doesnt guarantee it the question was which the most effective way of getting tal arm was. While the probability is the same - the odds are better after each run. But you can never guarantee it, not even running baal.
I honestly don’t know how people can stomach farming the same boss over and over and over again. It makes more sense to enjoy the game and bounce around all the high level monster areas in the game. Sometimes, I like to clear parts of Act I just for fun. Get some PGems out of it, and occasionally, a nice unique drop
Thats kinda what I was doing to get ready for hell. I would do cows, pindleskin and the two by the first act 5 way point. That seemed to be halfway decent without getting too boring.
Considering the limit, personally I'd rather just hit multiple farming spots or bosses in a run. Also back in the day id always do shenk with my Pindle skin runs. They're both quick and easy to get to, both in act 5
I found the whole set. Tals ammy with andie, armor with cows, and mask and belt random don't remember. I finally completed my childhood dream of owning tal rasha set.
No joke, this video came up in auto play, it convinced me to get off my butt and do some pindle runs. Got it on my 11th run off of one of his minions. Couldn't believe it!

What do you do with the cold-immunes, just static field and wait for your merc to kill them? Or do you try a wand of lower resistance and hope Blizzard kills them? Or do you just teleport away?
The best place is any aLv 85 area. D2 rewards regular play more so than runs. You do need about 250 mf minimum for it to work out. You also get the benefit of being able to find any item in the game and typically a lot less dangerous and faster than running act bosses. One change they should make is increasing the number of aLv 85 areas in a future patch.
your rng math isnt correct, if you have a 1 in 10 chance (10% chance drop rate)and run 10 times that does not give you a 100% chance. It is still a 10% drop chance per run. the number of runs do not ever change the drop rate.

Last time I found Tals was after maybe 2,000 pindle runs when D2R launched. Then I randomly found tals the next day off a cow.... Pindle is the easiest though slightly demoralizing way to find the armor. Someone did a calculation that most people will find it in about 4000 runs. Which translates to about 24 hours of efficient running assuming 20 seconds a run. The severs are much better so I averaged about 2.5 runs per minute. If you do 2 hours of pindle farm a day you will likely get tals in a couple weeks. Also it is easy to cap out at the 400 mf to maximize set item roll odds. Since you need very little gear to run pindle. It is harder to run 4 socket pgem armor against baal.

Baal is super easy , just use infinity, and -res gear , enigma if not a sorc. But in reality , we will have to run pindle till we fall asleep, rinse and repeat, I can solo Baal but my merc dies over and over to the immunes, just cost me 1 Mill and ALOT of time for a single Baal kill
I'm using obedience forti and talk mask on my Merc and he's easly do 8kdmg with my hammerdin concentration aura and 4,5 without. It's a great setup he pretty much destroy everything. As for your setup I strongly suggest change blessed aim Merc to holy freeze cuz it's pointless on sorc. And since you have reaper toll that comes with life leach change tal mask to guill helm for some extra cb. He will destroy uniqes, bosses alone with this setup .
What pisses me off is that holy freeze aura for merc is only available in nightmare. Hell it has available blessed aim and another couple useless auras
Found this armor the other day and didn't think anything of it. Stashed it in a mule and moved on until seeing a bunch of game names offering soj or high rune for it. Guess I found something good for once 😉

You must provide more information, its challenging to put something because there are many ways to struggle in this game. Like difficulty, resistance you have, runewards you have and so on
I am running a blizz sorc, my Resis are 40-75 on hell (poison being the highest), but I really just struggle with damage output. I can easily do Andy, Countess and Ancient Tunnels, but Mephisto and Chaos are not doable for example. Hope this helps.
U cant just add chances. Your logic: the chance a coin will show up side A will be is 50% (true) then u say: so if u throw the coin 2 times the chance of seeing side A minimum once will 100% (thats not true, it could be side B two times) but the chance is just 75% ;-)
I just found mine a day ago doing pindle / halls of pain runs. I got them from a boss skeleton pack in halls of pain, but extremely lucky after 5 hours of runs. I cleared halls of pain because if the game limiting after pindle.
I’ve played this game since it came out 20 years ago- I’ve only ever found 1 piece of tal rashas set. It was the amulet, when d2R came out. Thanks to the servers, I lost it & it didn’t save.
i got my first tal armor from nilathak with my 11mf trapsin. my 2nd tal armor dropped from baal with my 350mf sorc. so video checks out. i guess the 11mf nilathak drop was kind of nuts.
you can go the nilathak route for that as well he is quite nice for exp and so easy to find and with the server state atm pindle +nilathak became the way for me cause sometimes only nilathak is to fast depends on snakes or not :D
Found mine with 0 MF. ZERO!!! Was doing Cow runs for some Eth merc bases...logged off, next day forgot to put normal gear back on doing my 1st AncientT run, and BOOM!
I get it's more effective to run pindle over baal, but for me, I'm after the essence as well. So it makes it worthwhile for me to run baal. Plus the awesome xp. Edit: good video

Yeah, I have 5 masks, 2 belts, and 1 weapon. Haven’t found amulet or chest yet.
The mask drops fairly frequently, which isn't too bad though, as it is a good merc gear piece.
The fact that we are just a bunch of 30/40 year olds with full time jobs shows us a lot that the game rate needs to be limited. D2 is the diamond

Quest baal is also good, start a lobby game with an alt in hell that hasnt killed baal, leave join with your MF char. Baal is now quest tagged.

@@zergslayer69 you go to lobby and create a game and name it whatever and make whatever password. then you leave and join that game with your mf char. the game doesn't close right away when you leave it. it will stay open for a while so you can join with another char. that's how we used to mule items around in d2 classic.

I have lucked into 2 of these in the last week. First was from a random mob with my wind Druid play through in hell Frozen River on the way to Anya. Second was off a random mob in the Chaos Sanctuary with the same Druid.

Found the entire set myself within the first two weeks which was amazing. Found the armor in The Pits Level 2 off of a common mob enemy.

The math is incorrect, magic find percentage is only towards finding magic items. The effective magic find when looking for set pieces at 300 is actually 180-200%. Check out the magic find graph for uniqes and set items if you wanna re-calculate.
The calculator takes that into account, it doesn't ask your for EMF but for MF
I found mine at the armor rack to the left of meph on hell. Also found a Lo rune in chest behind him before that. Always check those chests and racks. In fact those are my best find from meph, didn’t even come from him…

No one here questions how you calculate the probability? No matter how many times you run pindle, the probability of the armor dropped from pindle is ALWAYS 1:6390. Even if you farmed pindle 6390 times, it won't gurantee (meaning 100%) you the drop. It's still possible that you don't get the armor after you farm pindle 6390 times.
While it doesnt guarantee it the question was which the most effective way of getting tal arm was. While the probability is the same - the odds are better after each run. But you can never guarantee it, not even running baal.

Tips for newbies: if you are going to spam Pindleskin, make Harmony runeword and put it on switch for Vigor aura. Speeds the runs up by 2x

I honestly don’t know how people can stomach farming the same boss over and over and over again. It makes more sense to enjoy the game and bounce around all the high level monster areas in the game. Sometimes, I like to clear parts of Act I just for fun. Get some PGems out of it, and occasionally, a nice unique drop
Thats kinda what I was doing to get ready for hell. I would do cows, pindleskin and the two by the first act 5 way point. That seemed to be halfway decent without getting too boring.

Considering the limit, personally I'd rather just hit multiple farming spots or bosses in a run. Also back in the day id always do shenk with my Pindle skin runs. They're both quick and easy to get to, both in act 5

What do you do with the cold-immunes, just static field and wait for your merc to kill them? Or do you try a wand of lower resistance and hope Blizzard kills them? Or do you just teleport away?

The best place is any aLv 85 area. D2 rewards regular play more so than runs. You do need about 250 mf minimum for it to work out. You also get the benefit of being able to find any item in the game and typically a lot less dangerous and faster than running act bosses.
One change they should make is increasing the number of aLv 85 areas in a future patch.
your rng math isnt correct, if you have a 1 in 10 chance (10% chance drop rate)and run 10 times that does not give you a 100% chance. It is still a 10% drop chance per run. the number of runs do not ever change the drop rate.

Last time I found Tals was after maybe 2,000 pindle runs when D2R launched. Then I randomly found tals the next day off a cow....
Pindle is the easiest though slightly demoralizing way to find the armor. Someone did a calculation that most people will find it in about 4000 runs.
Which translates to about 24 hours of efficient running assuming 20 seconds a run. The severs are much better so I averaged about 2.5 runs per minute.
If you do 2 hours of pindle farm a day you will likely get tals in a couple weeks.
Also it is easy to cap out at the 400 mf to maximize set item roll odds. Since you need very little gear to run pindle. It is harder to run 4 socket pgem armor against baal.

Baal is super easy , just use infinity, and -res gear , enigma if not a sorc.
But in reality , we will have to run pindle till we fall asleep, rinse and repeat, I can solo Baal but my merc dies over and over to the immunes, just cost me 1 Mill and ALOT of time for a single Baal kill

You need ap fort or eth treachery. Eth cv insight for dmg and eth or non eth andy visage with 10 life leach socketed with 15ias 30 fire resist.
I'm using obedience forti and talk mask on my Merc and he's easly do 8kdmg with my hammerdin concentration aura and 4,5 without. It's a great setup he pretty much destroy everything. As for your setup I strongly suggest change blessed aim Merc to holy freeze cuz it's pointless on sorc. And since you have reaper toll that comes with life leach change tal mask to guill helm for some extra cb. He will destroy uniqes, bosses alone with this setup .
What pisses me off is that holy freeze aura for merc is only available in nightmare. Hell it has available blessed aim and another couple useless auras

Unfortunatly is pindle only good for PC or PS5 on PS4 you wait about 15 seconds to log out and 35! seconds to log in. So pindle is not worth it.

You must provide more information, its challenging to put something because there are many ways to struggle in this game. Like difficulty, resistance you have, runewards you have and so on
I am running a blizz sorc, my Resis are 40-75 on hell (poison being the highest), but I really just struggle with damage output. I can easily do Andy, Countess and Ancient Tunnels, but Mephisto and Chaos are not doable for example. Hope this helps.

Your logic: the chance a coin will show up side A will be is 50% (true)
then u say: so if u throw the coin 2 times the chance of seeing side A minimum once will 100% (thats not true, it could be side B two times)
but the chance is just 75% ;-)

I just found mine a day ago doing pindle / halls of pain runs. I got them from a boss skeleton pack in halls of pain, but extremely lucky after 5 hours of runs. I cleared halls of pain because if the game limiting after pindle.
I’ve played this game since it came out 20 years ago- I’ve only ever found 1 piece of tal rashas set. It was the amulet, when d2R came out. Thanks to the servers, I lost it & it didn’t save.
i got my first tal armor from nilathak with my 11mf trapsin. my 2nd tal armor dropped from baal with my 350mf sorc. so video checks out. i guess the 11mf nilathak drop was kind of nuts.
Another plus to Baal is the experience gain is way better and he drops rare respec essences that can trade for alot
If you can survive it, Baal runs are best for the additional reason that it gives you the most XP in the game. You can level to 99 while MF-ing.
you can go the nilathak route for that as well he is quite nice for exp and so easy to find
and with the server state atm pindle +nilathak became the way for me cause sometimes only nilathak is to fast depends on snakes or not :D

The Diablo MF probability stated was the quest drop rate.
My Tal Armor dropped in the Ancient Tunnels from a random mob.
Now I am hunting for the Tal Amulet and it avoids me for 2 weeks now.. :(

Found mine with 0 MF. ZERO!!! Was doing Cow runs for some Eth merc bases...logged off, next day forgot to put normal gear back on doing my 1st AncientT run, and BOOM!
I get it's more effective to run pindle over baal, but for me, I'm after the essence as well. So it makes it worthwhile for me to run baal. Plus the awesome xp.
