marianela's acting is stunning but i'd like to also compliment the rest of the royal ballet's acting in this scene. everyone is absolutely embodying their role. i think the royal ballet is the best company when it comes to acting, you get so engrossed in each scene
Natalia was very fragile and broken almost as if she were having an epiphany with the universe but here Marianela is in shock, popping her cork and unpredictable and dare I say humiliated? Brava!!
This is my favorite interpretation of this scene. There’s all the grace of a ballerina, but her acting encompasses that almost frenzied madness, where she seems delighted by other’s terror and then has glimpses of reality and hallucination. It toys perfectly with your hope and destroys it and it fits beautifully
I absolutely *LOVE* the way in which Nunez rubs her hands on her dress starting at 4:48 as if even the thought of Albrecht's touch utterly repulses her now and she would erase it from her memory if she only could. I've never seen this in any other interpretation but it's the perfect choice.
@@ashliaclark I have seen some adaptations of "Giselle" in which Giselle manages to stab herself with Albrecht's sword before anyone can stop her...but I didn't get that impression at first. To me, it looked as if this was one of the versions in which Hilarion manages to prevent her from doing it. I interpreted the moment in which she collapses to the floor again at 4:35 and clutches her midsection as a manifestation of her grief and shock -- for some people, grief and shock and stress sometimes do manifest physically through nausea and/or stomach pain.
Guys, I know Marianela was shining on this stage, but come on, Vadim Muntagirov really showed that he regretted what he had done, he didn't mean to hurt Giselle. But yeah, Marianela was AMAZING, I got scared at 2:55
I have been comparing Nunez dancing this part of Giselle and Osipova's and I still can't decide who's best. They are such beautiful dancers, both with an unique style.
Natalia’s is definitely a lot better in the acting department. Overall Natalia’s whole Giselle is just better. To me marianela’s Giselle is a little bit sloppy but that’s just my opinion. I love her as a dancer tho !
Hurt and upset, Giselle ran from her grief-stricken mother, grabbed the sword from the guilt-ridden Loys, and used it to stabbed her already broken heart. Finally, with a great gasp, she collapsed and died.
E' semplicemente divina. E' l'interpretazione che preferisco, oltre alla Ferri e alla Fracci. Signora Nunez sono ammirata, lei e' un genio della danza!
I teared up watching this, and that has not happening before. Such investment in the acting from everyone, and such subtlety. I want to comment more extensively on this soon. ♥️
The absolute synchronicity of the entire ballet company and Adolphe Adam's score is a marvel, down to the smallest gesture. I truly felt as if each action -- and reaction -- was organically inspired by the tragic events onstage.
Though some of the nobles and peasants took pity on Giselle and Loys and wanted so much to forgive Albrecht, many of them blamed all of Giselle's death on Hillarion's jealousy, Albrecht's betrayal, and their rivalry.
While Albrecht, hoping to protect Giselle, tried to pretend his disguise was a joke in front of Bathilde, Giselle could see that Albrecht was just as stuck in a love triangle between her and Bathilde as she was between Loys and Hillarion. Of course, that didn't stop her from trying to compose herself and comfort her mother and friends, but her mind suddenly snapping did.
I know I'm late but I belive at the time, frankie and Mathew were already principals, and I belive Marci and Alex were soloists. I'm pretty sure they were apart of the peasant pas de six.
Omg that was the first thing I thought when I first watched Royal Ballet’s production when Giselle inspired me to start ballet at 14 lol!! Giselle is my ballet dream role!
i just watched ballet reign's explanation behind the story behind the story of giselle and this scene is absolutely tragic... imo giselle's condition is similar to a chinese story 红楼梦's (hong lou meng, dream of the red chamber) main character 林黛玉 (lin dai yu), who was mostly unwell in her childhood but committed suicide when her love, 贾宝玉 (jia bao yu) married another 薛宝钗 (xue bao chai)... I am not 100% sure of the chinese story but i do have an idea of the characters... overall, they are both such tragic stories...
I’ve never seen this performance before, but I can already tell the entire story of what’s going on!!! That’s great show don’t tell. Like her trying to wipe of the blood from her hands was astounding!!
Insane acting. Her interpretation is so unique. Aggressive, insane but innocent and graceful at the same time.
Yayayaya!!

Everyone in this entire piece was so on point. The emotions, the reactions of ensemble and other dancers was amazing
I think so, i think royal ballet its really good in acting

i actually think that was her wiping blood off her hands since she stabbed herself

It’s her wiping away blood because she stabbed herself
It's the blood from where she's stabbed herself. Before that she touches her side and then looks at her hand where she now has blood on it.
@@OreadNYC No, in Peter Wright's version Giselle stabs herself.

This is VERY good. She is certainly one of my very favorite dancers, and has a terrific face for acting, conveying great nuance of emotion
What I love with her she's both a great dancer and actress, really fits on stage, she makes everyone feel her character.
Love how this one ends with just her and the mother, heart wrenching 💔
Her little floppy marionette jump at 4:34 creeps me out so much, she’s amazing! it looks like something out of a nightmare

Wow! I really belive she, Giselle, has been crazy. What an interpretation! Marianela's and Natalia Osipova's both the best mad scene ever!
Her interpretation makes me cry. It's so unique
これ見るとジゼルが可哀想で毎回号泣しちゃう
それくらいすごい演技と技術

El nivel de actuación de Marianela es de otro planeta. La mejor lejos 💚
Superb actress and dancer , also the other dancers, are incredible, actors and dancers. Love, from Eíre, Ireland
Seeing Marianela's acting in Giselle actually made my chest ache, her acting is amazing!,
Jesus Christ she had me crying before she'd barely started, and I know this ballet like the back of my hand.

Elizabeth McGorian is superb as Berthe. Her pain in losing the only daughter to comfort her in her old age is heart wrenching.
Amazing, Marianela Nunez!!!
This is one of the best I've seen!

I love this interpretation of Marianela ,in my opinion is the best, all the emotions are expresed.

Frankie Hayward, Marci Sambé, Alexander Campbell and Mathew Ball in the corps, they've come so far!!
I saw Mayara Magri too! Glad she’s now a principal!

I’m sorry but why is Bathilde’s father dressed like Henry VIII-
I thought I was the only person who noticed

The story of Giselle is from the middle ages
Perfectly acted & mimed
She is brilliant. She looks like truly lost her mind and on the edge of insanity.
Her performance was made me cry
What a sad love story

Giselle reminds me of swan lake with all the corps de ballet and a queen and another girl just like swan lake.
I'm really sorry this happened to you Giselle, but you really have to be careful about who you date. Phenomenal dancing, though.
Sublime
i honestly cant pick a favorite between her and osipova.
esta bueno el vídeo 👻👻
I Love both Nathalia and Marianela or sthephana
I like Nunez as ballerina. But I think that Osipova is the best Giselle. And Nunez is the best Kitri
Kitri is Nela's signature role
The deranged giggle.

The most likely failure of the classical ballet is the dramatic way to express a story!Totally a disaster for the ballet itself.

Does anyone have the full ballet? I can't seem to find it anywhere but this is absolutely spectacular and I HAVE to see the full ballet 😍🤍
The 1998 Bolshoi Giselle with Nicolai Tsiskaridze and Svetlana Lunkina is astonishingly wonderful and can be seen in its entirety on YT.
