THANK YOU to anyone who Likes, Subscribes Or Becomes a Member! While the graphics are not exactly as I would have liked, it still looks great and if the in Game Graphics are as good as the screenshots? DANG
I love the graphics, they literally smoothed out the old graphics and I love it. most remakes change their style to the same stylized graphical style we've been seeing for a decade now
Words cannot express how excited I am for the remaster. I personally love how the graphics look and that are going for a HD remaster makes the remaster look a lot more faithful the original
Spyro and crash were technically remakes not remasters. They were made to be identical to the originals area design wise. But they're still remakes. Remake: completely new games built from the ground up Remaster: same game Same files Same engine Same models New shiny coat of paint. It's a lazy remaster compared to others. But comparing it to spyro and crash is a But unfair because remasters and remakes are two very different things
I think remake is moreso reserved for games where they actually change something about the game other than appearance such as gameplay or story. The new Final Fantasy 7 games would be an example of this.
@@Levi-gh1sq that would be called reimagining, re2 remake for example is something between remake and reimagining because its mostly following the original game but the graphical changes are so different, ff7 takes the original idea and follows it loosely
Nah, a remaster doesn't need to have the same engine. It can also have improved graphics / models. Look at all the Nightdive Studios remakes using the Kex engine - Blood Fresh Supply, Turoks, Forsaken, System Shock Enhanced (2015), Quake & Quake 2, and the most recent the recent Doom + Doom II. I personally demonstrate remake/remaster/reboot distinction using the Tomb Raider series. Tomb Raider Legend & Tomb Raider 2013 = Reboots Tomb Raider Anniversary = Remake Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy = Remaster
The comparison is relevant, even if they are not exactly the same. They are all PS1 Games in the end brought back with shiny new paint. The paint on those Games are much more impressive and even as a Remaster, could easily have more added as it currently is only textures and models replaced. Some small things could have taken it much further. Maybe some actual Grass and shadows. Chuck in some Camera effects like Depth Of Field (as toggle options of course) and boom, she looks much better 😎
Crash/Spyro treatment would have been amazing. I think this is budget reason why they did choose this route. But, I'm happy with new controls and other extras!
Agreed and multiple truths can co exist together 🙂 Would we have preferred better Graphics? Heck Yes. Does that mean it currently looks ugly and we should get all riled up? Heck No, lol. 😂 I am curious to see what else is revealed. Maybe there's more Graphics options that will be shown off another time and even Gameplay options we have not even considered.
Yeah me too and I’m also content this is still happening. This is basically the remaster treatment Tomb Raider Trilogy received recently, which I’m ok with. There’s a clear effort they tried to make Croc look like his CG render counterpart, though i’d say it looks closer to Croc 2’s CG art render. Edit: also hoping 5.1 surround makes its round. The original had dolby surround and even for a 4.0 output via pro logic, it sounded amazing on my set up back then.
I hate what they did with N-Sane trilogy. I vastly prefer this literal remaster that preserves the style to slapping realistic textures on cartoon characters and making the game look less timeless than the version from 30 years ago
@@limbus66 sorry you felt that way! I LOVED what they did with the Crash remaster! It’s everything I hoped for. Crash 4 redesign undid it for me. I will say though if in another world, Crash got a remaster that was more akin to their CGi 90s render, I would support that 100%
This is straight on the must buy list. Can't wait. I hope for a Croc 2 remaster next, then a full fledged Croc battle royale with live service and battle passes. Kidding, Croc 3 for ps5 would be incredible.
Right? What if these remasters are a sign of studios going back to franchises that worked?! I'd love classic Lara to return. Sadly, Crystal Dynamics has been murdering her for almost 2 decades now.
This is what I want, just port the old games to new consoles, no need to change anything, makes it easier to play without having to get out old hardware and discs like original spyro.
I'm happy to see so many PS1 Games coming to modern consoles. All of these Games are easily Good enough to exist in modern times and even have successful sequels ^__^
Gaming is cooked if this is what gamers want. A emulated version with shaders, on pc is pretty much what this is and free. Crash bandicoot remasters set the standard for what old school platformers should be. This is literally just a cash grab.
@@edwin99901 Disagree with both, I'll take the new controls and camera. That game needed it, I played through it again in 2014 or so and then tried again in like 2018 but couldn't deal with the controls anymore. I would have NEVER returned to this game without this remaster. Edit: As a bonus, this will come to PC and it's possible we can get some mods to go with it. I predict at least a Yoshi one 😊
Exactly the reason why I own original PS1 copies for Spyro 1 & 2 over Reignited Trilogy. I'm someone who's more interested in playing older games the way they actually were when originally released (or at least any port, remaster, or re-release that sticks close to that even if not on the game's original hardware) as opposed to needing to play them completely remade from the ground up. For that matter I also own a Sega Dreamcast for the very reason of still being able to play Sonic Adventure 1 in its original graphics even though the DX version on GameCube exists, since that game also got a lot of major graphical changes that have stuck with it through every newer re-release or port of the game over the years.
When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was fake. I am so glad this is really happening, I used to play Croc so much as a kid, it was a huge part of my childhood. Can't wait to play it again.
It was such a magical time and CROC played a huge part in the birth of 3D for us. They literally were figuring out how to even make the Game without prior Blueprints ♥️🦎
I remember getting 100% completion on the original game. I remember farming extra lives afterward just for the laughs, and finding out it goes over 100 lives. I still remember Croc's voice lines when he uses his attacks. "WAHAYY!" "CHISEL!" "KABOOF!" "KERSPLAT!" Fun times 😎
The resurrection of the 3d platformer continues. As for Croc only being a remaster compared to the more remake type games like Crash and Spyro, we need to remember that those games had a massive publisher like Activision behind them. I'm just happy to see Argonaut (and Croc) revived at all!
Well said and I hope people don't misunderstand me wanting more and thinking its an attack, because its not. I'm Simply honest with the initial disappointment on that one specific area. In general? I'm so PUMPED and excited for this. I love CROC. My footage was from my pwn review ♥️ Budget could have easily played a big part for sure and even a lack of confidence. Spyro and Crash are MUCH bigger franchises

The original graphics are charming and I would’ve hated to see them sterilized with a modern art style similar to the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I’m glad it’s not a complete remaster
They did a much more than the recent Tombi Game at least, lol. Loving that Game as well but I do wish they at least touched the Graphics. It does look incredible smooth though and hopefully more eye candy is revealed closer to release 😃 Happy to see the base game not really touched as well. At the very least, it will be very respectful to the original which is nice
That _would_ be great, but the models aren't more detailed. They're just rounder. Look at the main villain's face: The folds on his mouth are still a flat texture. Croc still has no toes; they're just a texture, too. The rocky wall detail? Also still just a texture. I could go on and on. A middle ground between this and Spyro Reignited's unnecessary and unwanted redesigns would have been the right choice.
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger had similar remasters, and I couldn't tell the difference. So thank you for pointing out the differences between these games! I'm thinking about getting this just for the added benefit of analog movement and camera controls.
I want to support this type of Game and have been asking for CROC for Decades, lol. Your very welcome!! I struggled myself, so figured I could help everyone out 🙂
I appreciate you mentioning the original PS1 controller not having joysticks. A lot of people, for some reason, try to gaslight others on this topic about the PS1 always having had thumbsticks, even though they didn't have them until the Dual Analog about 3 years later. And even then, not only were many games developed before thumbsticks were even a thing, but I'm pretty sure plenty of devs didn't want to bank on their potential customers having a newer model controller, rather than the one that likely came with their system. Furthermore, most devs at the time had limited experience with 3d game development in general, let alone the concept of freely navigating a 3d space, and there wasn't a long history of things that did and didn't work to draw from. Glad to see the controls being updated. One of my biggest struggles with returning to PS1 games is how many of them just controlled terribly, Croc included. The second I encounter tank controls, it's really hard not to switch to a game that will be less of a headache to play.
You are very welcome 😁 When it comes to Video Games my memory is very good!! Wish it was also the case for regular life Hahaha 😂 Also, well said on your part. Most devs did not even know what to do with joy sticks and most people didn't even want to use them, lol
Between Nintendo and Microsoft ~ for some reason that team is not respected enough to work on some Magic. Although, its been so long since the Golden Age all the original people might have left already
I remember playing Croc on the Sega Saturn as a kid, and it was such a frustrating experience because it is the kind of game that does not work well on a D-Pad. The other thing about Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is that the original was an early example of 3D platforming that tried taking elements from Super Mario 64 without directly copying the game. As some might know already, Croc was originally supposed to be a 3D Yoshi game for Nintendo until Nintendo rejected the idea.
Yeah I mentioned that fun fact about YOSHI in the Video for those who don't know that story . For many it was our very first 3D Platformer, it was ground breaking and did the best it could for the time with the D-PAD. As we now know, twin joy sticks is the ULTIMATE way to enjoy these types of Games 😃
I totally see if happening. Its not owned by Sony, massive switch install base (the biggest) and switch owners love colourful platformers 🙂 It would be a real shame if they did not make a switch version
@-Steven- To be honest, most of my time is usually spent replying to people asking or saying things that are already in my videos, lolo. It's amazing how many people watch so little yet have a lot to say or completely fly off only based on the thumbnail. Even before I became a TH-camr, I always make a point to watch videos completely before I say a word so I don't look silly
I forgot the camera was a butt to control! 😅 I am so use to using a joystick to control the camera so I'm glad it will be that way 😊 I quite like the new smoothness of the graphics, it would have been great with the original but I think on newer devices, HD TVs etc it could have made it look strange and fuzzy so I'm glad they went the HD way. I'm just happy to hear the little yippees from the Gobbos, as I didn't find it wanted to play properly on my new laptop when I tried it last. I think of this game fondly and cannot wait to play it again! 🥳😍 Thanks for the direct compare and confirmation of certain features! 😊
I love Croc since I first played it back in the 90s. Most people talk shit about this game because of the tank controls, but honestly, I hope there's a tank controls option as well. Unlike many people say, I do think this game works great with tank controls, because the whole level design was made taking them into account. There's never a platform or obstacle you don't have enough time to deal with and adjust yourself with the controls the game originally offered. I do think that adjustig the camera with the right analog stick will be great, but modern controls might make it a little too easy in my opinion.
People always say "something sucks" instead of saying "I was never good enough to learn" lolo The stages amd everything was designed for Tank Controls, so hopefully the modern controls don't make things too easy now
I'm so happy this is official, I thought before it was a fan-made remake, which would've been more than fine with me. But hearing that it's confirmed by the original devs? Oh boy. I grew up with this game and it feels amazing. Definitely picking this one up day one.
Hey man! It's great they are making a remaster of this game, I hope you will have a a good time with it. I have never played the original actually, but I think you talked about it in previous videos and had a great time with it. On a side note, I think it's good they are bringing back 3D Platformers, like this one, and we are going to have Astro Bot soon on the PS5, are you going to play it? I would like them to remake Banjo&Kazooie and Banjo&Tooie, fans have been asking for those games for a long time, but I'm not sure we will ever get them, which is a pity, people would scream out of enthusiasm. I've noticer you are showing your face less and less in your recent videos, you want to change style or is there another reason? I thought it was cool to see you actually. Well done on 12K views man, this is really great!
Hey buddy!! Yeah I'm really glad to see 3D Platformers totally making a come back 😁 I enjoyed the first 2 Astro Bots but not sure if I will get the Third. I would if it was for PSVR 2 but seems Astro will no longer be a mascot for it. Yeah, it sort of just happened. I couldn't record myself for some reason and after I started to enjoy writing a script and making sure I don't forget to mention some things hahaha So just experimenting with the format. Unfortunately, most people don't like to see you (even if I disagree and my views are reflecting that). Most people have too short an attention span 😅
@GamingMyWholeLife Hey man, sorry for taking so long to answer. Yes, I agree, it's a great thing, I think we both grew up with 3D platformers, so it's nice to see them coming back. Ah, I understand about Astro, but I think the 2 other games were not as developed as that one. I'm not sure actually, but I understand what you are saying. Oh yes, I see. I think it's great to see you when you make videos, at least from time to time but I can imagine some people prefer it otherwise. Yes, it's really great about the views, keep up the good work.
Ooops, only saw your comment now! Yeah, the no face thing has just become convenient, lol. I'm not against putting my face in but lately I'm enjoying writing scripts and being more specific with my words. Also been recovering from a cold and it's easier to edit out all the coughing Hahaha I'll happily bring my face into videos that I feel it makes sense 🙂
@@GamingMyWholeLife Hey man! That's all right, sometimes I take time to answer and you've got more and more views, so I can understand that some of my comments get lost, and I don't mind. But I do appreciate the fact that you still take the time to answer and be who you are, open to communication, which is really awesome. I do understand about the no face, I think it's about what you feel best with. I understand that too, and I hope you'll feel better soon. Cool, that would be awesome, but again, it's about what you think is best.
I remember as a kid I always thought it reminded me of and found this to be the Yoshi of the Playstation so it was no surprise when I found out it was originally planned to be a Yoshi game.
I was a little bummed it wasn’t like crash or Spyro too but I love this game enough and have wanted it to be on consoles for so long that I’m still so happy. And it also gives me the smallest bit of hope that they might continue this and we may end up with croc 3 in this same faithful style one day. Fingers crossed 🤞
I love that it’s gonna be the exact same game with polished up graphics. I’m sure the camera will be less shit too and I hope that the controls will be better.
Same problem with Tomba, why not BOTH in a collection? I would have been even more hyped that way, especially because the graphics look pretty simple, much simpler than other remakes, so having the 2nd game would have made it unmissable from day one for me! Awesome video as usual man!!
I didn't even realise and you are correct!! Thankfully for me, CROC 1 was my favourite (actually disliked the 2nd) so it does not impact me. Still, you are correct Mate, it should have been a bundle! Glad you enjoyed 😃 I got to do a Video on TOMBI & CROC so close to each other?? Happy Days 🌈❤
They are starting with the first game to see how the sales do before doing the second one. Hopefully the remaster of the first Croc does extremely well for them so they can do a remaster of Croc 2 afterwards
Croc 1 had analog support on PSX version. You had to connect dualshock controller and then enable it in options. It was still wonky, because turning was not instantenous (and turn radius was like 1.5 Croc models wide), but it's not a completely new addition. You also could rotate camera with right analog, but it reset itself after you released the stick.
So happy to see other Croc fans. I assume Argonaut will be rereleasing their other games like this, including Croc 2. I can only hope that leads to a Croc 3.
Crash 4 happened after the success of the Teleology - so its def possible and I hope so!! I'm also pumped to see soany fellow CROC fans coming to my video 🥳🦎
I think my only gripe with the art direction is the lack of 3D depth on the textures that you can get through normal/parallax maps. At the game’s original resolution the shading drawn on the textures was good enough to give them depth, but at modern resolutions and with smooth geometry the illusion of depth is entirely absent. You don’t necessarily even need to rework Croc’s lighting or manually model all of the texture details into 3D. For Voxel Doom, modder Cheello was able to add depth to Doom’s textures through the use of parallax maps, without having to rework GZDoom’s lighting. By adding parallax map support to this remaster, they could bring back the illusion of texture depth in the modern age.
I think its no secret we are getting the bare bones treatment currently. There are so many things they can do which would not be too expensive an investment and ywt would raise the visual quality by a lot. Heck, maybe even add a selectable option where depth of field is enabled, lolo
While editing this, if the footage ran beside each other and not zoomed in, it is waay to similar, lol. It's CROC as we remember it but looking better than the actual old Game, lol. I have been waiting for more news to drop since the announcement trailer but so far nothing at all has been said. I'm excited either way and flawed that CROC is making a return!
The trouble with HD remasters is you can do pretty much the same for free on emulators minus the backgrounds by using the built in upscaler that comes with most of them now, I know it's not perfect but most do a really good job so for me rebuying a game that's only had it's textures redone is a no. If it had been done like crash bandicoot or spyro then I would have no problems rebuying the game but just tarting up the textures and changing the controls is not worth it.
It looks barely changed, I guess the decision to make a remaster instead of a remake was due to the cost? But hey, I'd even take the original graphics as long as the controls aren't so archaic.
Had to have this comparison to even be able to tell 😅 Its nice and smooth but it needs at least some extra objects in the environment or something. Hopefully more is revealed and more has been done. Still a must buy for older fans but the lack of effort will easily put off new comers
I LOVE how the Dantinis looked in Croc 1 and I'm glad they won't change. I do, however, have a gripe about their eyes. The pupils are smaller than they were in the original. Bigger pupils are my only feedback. I'm also particularly interested to see how the tumbling Dantini will look considering her 2-colour jester-like appearance. Fun fact: When that Dantini blinks, her BODY blinks instead of her eyes! (at least in the PC version I have). Surely they'll fix this in the remaster, surely!
I appreciate the conservative approach the developers went for with the texture upscaling: they got rid of the pixels as far as 1080p is concerned, but mostly didn't change the colors and details in the textures themselves, they're simply smoother where it should be while retaining sharpness between defined parts of a same texture. This is my preferred way of upscaling textures for a game I like, and the goal is to ensure that if you look at the texture from far away, toggling between the HD and original texture should yield no difference. It should only matter upclose. This is what HD texture pack artists should strive for, when aiming for the most faithful approach!
How awesome is it that 2 PS1 Classics are in pur lives again? I'm enjoying Tombi, Tombi 2 will come put next year and maybe croc 2 if the first Game does well 💸♥️
I cannot wait to play the HD remastered version of this classic 1997 video game when it comes out! I am so excited. I used to play the original version of the same game when I was a kid, teenager and in my 20s. I always loved that game. It's one of my favourite video games of all time. I am also glad that the British video game company Argonaut is back in business from its twenty-year closure/hiatus since this year - 2024. Fair play to them! Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
My first full 3D Platformer 😃 Has lived rent free in my Brain all these Decades after. I love all Game types (well most) but nothing feels more Game Like than a solid 3D platformer in my opinion
Your going to appreciate it even more!! Happens to ke every time I do a retrospective of older Games on this channel! I notice a bunch of things that went straight over my head as a kid
Probably due to budget, time wise, possibly a small team at the moment. At least the HD remaster looks very faithful to the original, I’m just glad and happy Argonaut Games are back and are remastering Croc after all these years
I'm excited about the return of Argonaut Games and I will be playing the remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos! The remaster needs to sell extremely strong (like the original did), Argonaut Games needs to remaster the second one, make the third one happen, even remaster I-Ninja and make the I-Ninja sequel happen, and edit Malice on how it should've been.
@@GamingMyWholeLife Which gamers need to feel respected with what they get, which is why it needs to sell extremely strong (just like the original did), and it needs to have a physical release.
Both work together, Gamer respect and the success of Games 🙂 We throw money at anyone we feel has earned it and happily skip others who we feel does not respect our time or money. A physical Release would be really good in this situation. Totally agree
I cannot wait for this remaster. I love this game it was the first game i 100% completed when i was like 6 or 7. As long as the controls are updated and the music remains the same I'm happy
Look, I'm a developer myself, and this is one of the few times where I'd agree if anyone accused this one of being a low-effort cash grab. Yes, the controls are reworked, but both the models and textures look like they were put through a smoothing shade, and then slightly retouched to correct any imperfections. It's fine to relaunch retro games as they were, but I think the label of "remaster" is being abused nowadays.
I'm greatful its not just a port and at least things will look better but yeah... Could have been a lot more with not that much extra work, lol. I'm really hoping more is revealed in the next trailer and they accidentally under sold themselves.
Yo. They've actually done it. Hell yes. Like i know it hasn't been remade like Spyro/Crash, but as fun as Croc was i don't think it was ever as popular as the other two so a full remake likely wasn't an option. I'm honestly happy with this, i do wish more had been done, but i'm mostly happy with what i'm seeing. So long as the music still slaps, i'll be happy.
@@GamingMyWholeLife it really was. The music from the first level is actually set for my alarm tone, as what better way to wake up right. 😁😁😁 And who knows they might do more with it before it releases, this could have been made a while ago. Either way i am sp excited that Croc is getting some love again too. Now we just need Legacy of Kain and Rayman to get a remaster and all of my favourite PS1 icons will be back again. Like this legit made my day, i had no idea this had been announced until i saw your video, i have been in such a good mood all day cause of this announcement.
Ring tone - VERY well played and glad I could bring some great news your way!! Would love to see Soul Reaver come back and I'm also a massive TENCHU fan 😃🔥 The PS1 Era really did have an insane amount of quality Games 🙂
I think it's a missed opportunity that they are not bringing Croc back as a 2 game bundle, in the style of Spyro and Crash trilogy. This would've been a much more appealing deal to fans new and old. Keeping in mind that Spyro and Crash trilogies were actually full on REMAKES, while Croc is only a remaster, it probably would've been possible to remaster both games. I was 11 years old when the first Croc released and I enjoyed it a lot. Never got to play the second game, which makes me even more bummed, that they are only releasing the first game.
From what I remember and keep in mind this was forever ago ~ I remember playing the start and thinking (they dumbed it down for kids) and hating it. Maybe Adult me will think differently but I remember hating 2. Fans who only played 2 loved it though.
It truly was a different time but not that painful since better didn't actually exist yet, lol. I'm hopping for a toggle option between old and updated controls ^__^
It really does, lol. Hopefully they release another Trailer, as they have gone radio silent since the announcement and have not even confirmed which consoles / platforms its coming to
@@GamingMyWholeLife I really hope it gets a Psychical run, even if from Limited Run games, this was the first playstation game I got, plus the first game I bought for myself! It's got a big old special place in my heart!
yeah, the covered TOMBI Limited Run Games, I can imagine them doing this as well Oh that's pretty awesome!! I can't remember which Game I bought first but the Nintendo Wii was my first with my own money and pre order ^__^
At the end of the video, you bring up a point that I was thinking as well. You said this may be all the team can afford to do right now. I just told someone yesterday that I think they are doing this to secure some funding for their next project. I would love for them to make a game like Croc 3 for example
Yeah I want people to consider the full picture and things like budgets do exist, lol. Also CROC is a MUCH smaller IP compared to both Spyro and crash, who continued to get Games even after the PS1 generation. Thanks for watching the video all the way through!! Most people sound off after watching a couple minutes and I'm repeating what is already said in the video hahaha
Thanks for the comparison, really appreciate it (gave a like and all that) As a side note, i do wanna mention that i believe you're confusing a "Remaster" with a "Remake", the latter being what was done for Spyro and Bandicoot. Remasters are the same game with updates essentially, sometimes the devs do new textures and such but normally they try to stick as close to the original (which is why it feels like "Crod HD". More ambitious Remasters restore cut content, tho hard to say if Croc has cut content to restore...
Glad you enjoyed the video and your very welcome!! Yeah, I know of the differences but I like to use those Games as a bit of a visual benchmark 🙂 I think the visuals in CROC can easily be improved further while staying true to the original Art Style 😎 No idea about cut content
I'm legit so excited about the remaster to be honest, my sister and I played both croc 1 and 2 so much as kids on the PS1 so it holds a lot of nostalgia to me.
Better than gex at least, but yeah, they still should have sprung for more updates than this. It kinda reads like texture mod, with some more subdevided models. it still needs more geometry, and actual lighting.
I'm excited for this. The main thing that keeps me from going back to croc is the controls. I can't stand them. Being able to just play it like a normal platformer and wallow in the nostalgia would be very welcome.
@GamingMyWholeLife What you are referring to is a remake not a remaster. Crash and Spyro were completely remade. This and something like Bounty Hunter or Tomb Raider I,II,III these are remasters. What you want as a pipeline is remaster/port of the original game.. Then a remake of that game should come if demand is there. Those of us in our later 30s should be championing the game as it was first then remakes second.. I personally favour having the original titles released on modern platform. So many classic games i want to play again from this era with achievements of course. Jersey Devil, Bug Bunny Lost in Time, Jedi Power Battles, Tenchu 1,2 A Bugs Life.. i could keep going but theres a goldmine there. Just on remasters akin to this. This how great it would be for example to have the original Abe games Oddyssey and Exoddus HD plus the remake/reboot. Thats everyone happy.
@GamingMyWholeLife Which they've done here. This is a remaster. Remakes involve complete remaking of everything. The new Yooka-Laylee is a remaster. Crash N.Sane, System Shock.. These are remakes. Like I said there should be a pipeline of.. Remaster, Remake/Sequel. Jumping right to remake isn't the preferred option for those of us that just want the classic game avaliable on modern platforms first then a do a remake or a sequel. Much more receptive then as we have the originals if we aren't big fans of the remake treatment. I'd like the original 3 Crash games remastered just like this with Croc. I'd play those in a heartbeat because they are quite different games. Especially the first game.
Argonaut games just got back from the dead. Can't blame them if they start things off safe, even if they didn't choose the remake route I hope this will be a good product with solid accessibility features and unequivocally improved presentation. The worst thing that can happen is the remaster looking and playing worse than the original, I just hope that's not the case
I'm happy they went the Remaster route. Means the original Game will be respected in every way 😃 Can't wait to slowly rotate that Camera as we take in that Beautiful World 🌈🌏
All I want from both Croc 1 and 2 PSX variants. Is to hear the entire OST remastered or remixed as they simply do not make music like this all that much anymore. Crash/Spyro games I had the same thing going on "Absolute curiosity on how they slightly modernize the stage tracks." Point in case, Croc games have one too many good tracks.
Yeah I’m pretty content with this remaster! It’s sort of along the lines of a typical remaster (upscaled textures and resolution/performance) and honestly that’s understandable given the team and their budget. Activision and Sony can definitely afford to the pull out the full remakes of Crash, Spyro and MediEvil with completely remade assets, but I understand that smaller devs don’t really have that kind of luxury. Honestly, as someone who never played the original and only knew of it, I’m definitely excited to try this out!
this almost just looks like runing croc on full settings in duckstation. lol i like the little change however. be nice if they would make a new island or set of lvls with this
I've played this Game on fill emulation and what the team has done is much better here. That said, they still should have done more or at the very least have not revealed it yet. Still excited, still CROC in 2024 which is very exciting
You know I always watch all the way through! Man what a blast from the past! I loved playing the old croc game! I'm excited for this remaster, can't wait to replay this gem!
I do think this will be compared to remasters like Crash and Spyro which were remade from the ground up (which you’ve just mentioned as I write this.) like you, I’ll enjoy playing it again but honestly, I doubt the differences will even register as it’s been so long since I played it. I hope Croc 2 is coming too - I have to say I think it’s the superior game.
It certainly will be compared and while those other Games are MUCH bigger franchises and technically Remakes (even though the end product is more like a Remaster), CROC is another old Game from the PS1 Era brought to modern systems. My disappointment lies in what seemingly looks like no editions or adjustments done of any sort. Objects are rounder, so actual 3D work has been done and the smoothness of the textures are insane and welcome! That said, the environment is bare, flat and lacking. Even with a strict budget in mind. It would have not cost much to add some extra geometry to the environment. Add some grass, bushes, trees etc and maybe some camera effects to add some modern life to things. They have remained oddly silent since the announcement, I'm hoping a new trailer drops soon and revealing some more details 🙂 They should be aiming at new fans as well, not just old who will try this for nostalgia sake
@@GamingMyWholeLife Yeah I can’t help but think it isn’t the best strategy in today’s competitive market to implement such subtle changes to a game that was last seen in the 90s but I guess some will appreciate its charm!
Im very excited to play this game, i played very few video games when i was a kid, but i loved the shizz out of Croc! Im really happy i have an opportunity to explore all, over again!
I love that it looks so visually similar. If they decide to do a new Croc game or something I'd be fine with mixing things up, but it's awesome to see the art style I know and love, just polished up!
I played this on the old computers at my daycare! I’m definitely getting it when it comes out! I do kinda wish they did 1 & 2 but we’ll take what we can get ammirite?
Croc 1 is a good game. Looking forward to playing this on PS5. Looks like they've added wide-screen and a few graphical tweaks which is pretty much what I was expecting. The d-pad controls on the PS1 version weren't great, kinda stiff. So hopefully tge controls will be better for modern consoles.
It doesn't "look" like a huge difference initially because of the simpler art style in my opinion. But the controls and camera? Can't be stated enough how much its gonna feel so much better. I really look forward to this.
My only concern is the improved controls might make this Game way to easy now. Before the controls and difficulty worked together, since platforming and even getting used to a 3D Game took a lot of practice. Fingers Crossed the developers are self aware enough of this and do something to combat this issue that may rise. Can't wait to enjoy that Camera and all the Smexy Angles 😍
This version shown could very easily be the 100% reward medievil style a crisp 1to1 of the original where as the main game is like n-sane reignited n medival remaster
I’m kind of surprised we’re not getting the second game remastered as well. It would’ve been an amazing to have both games remastered for modern systems. I grew up with that more than the original game believe it or not. Maybe next year perhaps? Similar to what they did with Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. Still annoying the 3rd game hasn’t been ported to modern systems yet either.
Loving that Game 😁 I reviewed that on Launch day. Shame they didn't rouch up the visuals at all but I'm still happy + can save and rewind which is very handy!
Is there any info on whether this remaster is essentially just a port of the same game engine with cleaned up assets? I think what they could have done while reserving the original aesthetic and modelling is perhaps adding in modern lighting (Not RTX as such) That probably would have brought life to it without changing much.
There is a lot that could have easily been done here that would not have inflated the budget too much. As I said in the video, even a dot for a shadow is still used, lol. I'm hoping more is revealed soon and maybe some visual options that can be toggled on and off to keep everyone happy. I would LOVE to see Depth Of Field used in this... my dream
Well thats the thing, sometimes it really is just a port and NOTHING more. We are getting more here, its just debatable if its enough. One thing we all agree on is the excitement and nostalgia we all feel together ♥️
The only thing i don't like is how the 3D model for croc is still all separate limbs as separate meshes and he still has no hands despite having hands in the box art render... Like they just did a high poly low poly model, it's really weird lol Oh, that and stretched UVs in the maps make me a little sad. But I'm definitely buying this because i love croc so much
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about the separate meshes are well. An odd choice and an even safer bet would have been to not have it like that. I think modern consoles can handle that base mesh deformation, lolo As some others have pointed out and I agree. The Grass needs some work as well. It's literally Green Clay at this point hahaha Otherwise super excited here and it's great to see so much love for CROC.
I prefer this over what Crash/Spyro got. Those remakes changed the games' art styles pretty heavily (especially for Spyro) and they lost some of the original charm. This just feels like good old Croc with a higher resolution.
I wish they added more to it. Happy with the art style but I wish it wasn't so 1:1. Maybe some new geometry to help fill the screen or some toggle camera options
I have never been more excited for a game than I am right now, Croc is my all time favourite game, I will definitely be 100% this when it comes to Xbox later this year.
THANK YOU to anyone who Likes, Subscribes Or Becomes a Member!
While the graphics are not exactly as I would have liked, it still looks great and if the in Game Graphics are as good as the screenshots? DANG
I love the graphics, they literally smoothed out the old graphics and I love it.
most remakes change their style to the same stylized graphical style we've been seeing for a decade now
Looking forward to this 🙂
The graphics is exactly what as it would liked, It's a remaster afterall, not a remake.
The grass texture has more detail in the original
Words cannot express how excited I am for the remaster.
I personally love how the graphics look and that are going for a HD remaster makes the remaster look a lot more faithful the original
Spyro and crash were technically remakes not remasters. They were made to be identical to the originals area design wise. But they're still remakes. Remake: completely new games built from the ground up
Remaster: same game Same files Same engine Same models New shiny coat of paint. It's a lazy remaster compared to others. But comparing it to spyro and crash is a But unfair because remasters and remakes are two very different things
Yep, same with Medievil on PS4.
Tomb Raider Legend & Tomb Raider 2013 = Reboots
Tomb Raider Anniversary = Remake
Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy = Remaster
Agreed and multiple truths can co exist together 🙂
Would we have preferred better Graphics? Heck Yes.
Does that mean it currently looks ugly and we should get all riled up? Heck No, lol. 😂
I am curious to see what else is revealed.
Croc is better than both of these though
@@nicksorenson940do you have spyro 3 ps1?
When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was fake. I am so glad this is really happening, I used to play Croc so much as a kid, it was a huge part of my childhood. Can't wait to play it again.
It was such a magical time and CROC played a huge part in the birth of 3D for us. They literally were figuring out how to even make the Game without prior Blueprints ♥️🦎
I remember getting 100% completion on the original game.
I remember farming extra lives afterward just for the laughs, and finding out it goes over 100 lives.
I still remember Croc's voice lines when he uses his attacks. "WAHAYY!" "CHISEL!" "KABOOF!" "KERSPLAT!"
Fun times 😎
Collecting everything in this Game was soo much fun!!
Getting all those Gems and unlocking the secret stages 😃
KERSPLAT!!
I thought he was saying “Yellow!” 😂
@andrewbeauparlant2477 - Don't let us take that away from you! 😂
kersplat was always my favorite
The resurrection of the 3d platformer continues.
As for Croc only being a remaster compared to the more remake type games like Crash and Spyro, we need to remember that those games had a massive publisher like Activision behind them.
I'm just happy to see Argonaut (and Croc) revived at all!
Well said and I hope people don't misunderstand me wanting more and thinking its an attack, because its not.
I'm Simply honest with the initial disappointment on that one specific area. In general? I'm so PUMPED and excited for this. I love CROC. My footage was from my pwn review ♥️
Budget could have easily played a big part for sure and even a lack of confidence. Spyro and Crash are MUCH bigger franchises

Also the smug satisfaction that our childhood Games were as good as we remembered 🥳🦎
same here
Long have I waited for this moment. My favourite game coming back makes me truly delighted.
Its a very good time to have fond memories of the PS1 Generation. I mean, I did a TOMBI review not long ago!! It feels like anything can come back ♥️
The original graphics are charming and I would’ve hated to see them sterilized with a modern art style similar to the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I’m glad it’s not a complete remaster
I'm happy for the Art Style to remain the same. I just wish they did more 🙂
but spyro remaster is amazing
Duuuuuude.
This game was a huge part of my childhood!
Waiting for the Gex remaster, too! 🫠
I'm so glad I'm not alone in my nostalgia for this Game!!
Was Gex any good? I never played it before
Sadly Gex trilogy isn’t a remaster and is just ports
I like how they upscaled the graphics and that's basically it - no changes to the artstyle whatsoever.
As it should be
Thats all the game needed. Cant wait to replay this.
@@gnbmanyou hated reignited?
It doesn't hurt to dream, but who knows, if this one is successful, we will have an actually remake for Croc 2.
Is that a typo where you want to see a CROC 2, or disliked Croc 2 soo much your hoping it never returns, lol.
You are very welcome 😁
When it comes to Video Games my memory is very good!! Wish it was also the case for regular life Hahaha 😂
Also, well said on your part. Most devs did not even know what to do with joy sticks and most people didn't even want to use them, lol
Crash, Spyro and Medevil were remakes not remasters. That's the difference here.
To be honest, I'm still very excited to get the platinum in Croc...
I wouldn't expect CROC to look as good as them bit half way would have been nice 😁
I'd buy it for the soundtrack alone. THAT NOSTALGIA 😭
In your defence... The sound track is pure magic and some of the best we have ever heard to this very day! 🙂
even croc is getting a remake before banjo kazooie
Between Nintendo and Microsoft ~ for some reason that team is not respected enough to work on some Magic. Although, its been so long since the Golden Age all the original people might have left already
Since that’s down to Rare and Microsoft still I’d say it’s sadly not gonna happen
I just ordered the original for the ps1, I totally forgot this game existed
Its lived rent free in my mind for decades hahaha
Just fandom flash backs of colours, croc and magical music😁
@@GamingMyWholeLife It would be really ironic if the Croc remaster ever made it to the Switch, but I doubt that it will happen.
I totally see if happening. Its not owned by Sony, massive switch install base (the biggest) and switch owners love colourful platformers 🙂
It would be a real shame if they did not make a switch version
He already mentioned the Yoshi fact in the video, did you not watch it before making a comment?
@-Steven- To be honest, most of my time is usually spent replying to people asking or saying things that are already in my videos, lolo. It's amazing how many people watch so little yet have a lot to say or completely fly off only based on the thumbnail.
Even before I became a TH-camr, I always make a point to watch videos completely before I say a word so I don't look silly
I forgot the camera was a butt to control! 😅 I am so use to using a joystick to control the camera so I'm glad it will be that way 😊
I quite like the new smoothness of the graphics, it would have been great with the original but I think on newer devices, HD TVs etc it could have made it look strange and fuzzy so I'm glad they went the HD way. I'm just happy to hear the little yippees from the Gobbos, as I didn't find it wanted to play properly on my new laptop when I tried it last.
I think of this game fondly and cannot wait to play it again! 🥳😍 Thanks for the direct compare and confirmation of certain features! 😊
You are very welcome 🙂
I got excited and had a feelings others would be as well!!
People always say "something sucks" instead of saying "I was never good enough to learn" lolo
The stages amd everything was designed for Tank Controls, so hopefully the modern controls don't make things too easy now
Same, wasn’t much of a fan of the tank control games but I absolutely loved both Croc games and Gregory horror show
I'm so happy this is official, I thought before it was a fan-made remake, which would've been more than fine with me.
But hearing that it's confirmed by the original devs? Oh boy. I grew up with this game and it feels amazing.
Definitely picking this one up day one.
Glad your excited and should be a very smooth running experience 😁😎
Its always great to see lost studios make a comeback. I hope to see more from Argo
I wish them nothing but the best
The bee comparison looks like left bee is angy and right bee is just vibing and flying around.
Lolo 😂 Ur not wrong!! 🐝

i played croc 2 so much as a kid and got all of my frtiends into it several times
plus it was pretty hard anc challenging at times
Hey buddy!!
Yeah I'm really glad to see 3D Platformers totally making a come back 😁
I enjoyed the first 2 Astro Bots but not sure if I will get the Third. I would if it was for PSVR 2 but seems Astro will no longer be a mascot for it.
Yeah, it sort of just happened. I couldn't record myself for some reason and after I started to enjoy writing a script and making sure I don't forget to mention some things hahaha
So just experimenting with the format. Unfortunately, most people don't like to see you (even if I disagree and my views are reflecting that).
Most people have too short an attention span 😅
Also thanks!! Really surprised at the views but of course very grateful
Also been recovering from a cold and it's easier to edit out all the coughing Hahaha
I'll happily bring my face into videos that I feel it makes sense 🙂
Would have been much better than the Yoshi Game we did get on N64 as well.
I didn't even know that Croc started as a prototype for a new Super Mario 3D game where we played as Yoshi.
Yep, started out as YOSHI but ended as CROC.
I loved CROC but I can't help but wonder what sort of YOSHI Game we would have gotten
@@GamingMyWholeLife Oh I see (I understand)
Me too. Yeah probably.
Legend has it, The Croc prototype influenced Mario 64
@@KevDoy Something like that, mate.

Currently, I'm most excited for just having the ability to rotate the Camera
I cant wait for the remastered of croc to come to consoles
This is definitely coming to consoles, we just need them to announce which ones kr hopefully all of them
I hope it comes to Nintendo switch
That would be the smart thing to do! Very suited for Switch owners and its not like the Switch will struggle to run this, lol 🙂
Good to know!! Thanks for sharing that with everybody
The Doom support truly continues to amaze ♥️
While I am beyond excited for this, the graphics look basically the same hahaha
I do want more than just the Textures looking sharper. Hopefully more info and another trailer drops soon!
Iam so hyped for crocs return
CROC ROCKS!!
That was the slogan used in Australia 🌏 🦘 not sure if it was also the same elsewhere
Croc for Christmas!? Hell yeah!?
Going to buy this Game for younger family members, since it's very kid friendly but especially for myself Hahaha
This is how it should be. I hate when so much is changed and updated that the whole mood and atmosphere of the original is entirely lost.
I agree with keeping the Art Style but they can easily add more here and it won't take away from the original vision.
Hopefully more is revealed soon.
It looks barely changed, I guess the decision to make a remaster instead of a remake was due to the cost? But hey, I'd even take the original graphics as long as the controls aren't so archaic.
Had to have this comparison to even be able to tell 😅
Its nice and smooth but it needs at least some extra objects in the environment or something.
Hopefully more is revealed and more has been done. Still a must buy for older fans but the lack of effort will easily put off new comers
I really wanted a remake tho, or a reboot you could say
I was hoping for more myself but I'm still glad this exists!
Thats a pretty interesting fact I was not aware of!!
This is what HD texture pack artists should strive for, when aiming for the most faithful approach!
i woud love to see croc 2 and the tomba games in the near future i loved playing them when i was a kid
Greeting from Australia 🇦🇺 Glad your excited and this can be something to look forward to!
@@GamingMyWholeLife Thanks, mate. Yeah it sure can.
I never knew the yoshi thing , I wonder if the main villain was originally bowser
Ohh I never made that connection 😯 I recon your right!!
My second favorite game ever made. 1st is Banjo! But this is so cool, can’t wait.
My first full 3D Platformer 😃
Has lived rent free in my Brain all these Decades after.
I love all Game types (well most) but nothing feels more Game Like than a solid 3D platformer in my opinion
Im so happy this game hasnt been forgotten about! I used to play this as a 6 year old, now I get to actually complete it as a 31 year old
Your going to appreciate it even more!! Happens to ke every time I do a retrospective of older Games on this channel! I notice a bunch of things that went straight over my head as a kid
Initially I wasn't convinced by the screenshots I saw, but after seeing it in motion, this looks like exactly what I would want from a remaster.
Hey I'm glad I could help make things a bit clearer for you.
I also couldn't tell and needed the side by side for myself hahaha
I was really hoping to be a remake, not a remaster. Toys for Bob did such an amazing work with Spyro Reignited.
Why not full remake from the ground up like Crash Bandicoot. That was the best remaster.
Think it can down to budget restraints and also CROC is a much smaller IP unfortunately
If Gamers feel respected with what they get I have no doubt that CROC will be a flying success 💸
@@GamingMyWholeLife Which gamers need to feel respected with what they get, which is why it needs to sell extremely strong (just like the original did), and it needs to have a physical release.
Both work together, Gamer respect and the success of Games 🙂
We throw money at anyone we feel has earned it and happily skip others who we feel does not respect our time or money.
A physical Release would be really good in this situation. Totally agree
Looks like an ai remaster. Still gonna buy it.
Given that Jez San was a little into crypto, I’m admittedly raising an eyebrow. I’m still curious.
Keep in mind that the trailer says "prerelease footage" so it may very well be improved when it's actually out.
Very true and there could easily be unannounced features that completely change our current perspectives 👀🙂
I cannot wait for this remaster. I love this game it was the first game i 100% completed when i was like 6 or 7. As long as the controls are updated and the music remains the same I'm happy
The music was such a powerful part of the experience ♥️ Takes you away to a place of wonder and magic
@@GamingMyWholeLife I hum it randomly to this day
Same!!😃
Look, I'm a developer myself, and this is one of the few times where I'd agree if anyone accused this one of being a low-effort cash grab.
The music was such joy and the most impactful part of the Game 😁 hopefully its safe and I do hope they add more visually
@@GamingMyWholeLife it really was. The music from the first level is actually set for my alarm tone, as what better way to wake up right. 😁😁😁
And who knows they might do more with it before it releases, this could have been made a while ago.
Would love to see Soul Reaver come back and I'm also a massive TENCHU fan 😃🔥
The PS1 Era really did have an insane amount of quality Games 🙂
"I tired of people who say Remaster instead of Remake... Wait, it's literally a Remaster?"
Lol seems to be
I think it's a missed opportunity that they are not bringing Croc back as a 2 game bundle, in the style of Spyro and Crash trilogy.
Croc 2 Sucked a little tho
@@kingslayer2999 Is that so? Was it that different from the first game?
From what I remember and keep in mind this was forever ago ~ I remember playing the start and thinking (they dumbed it down for kids) and hating it.
Maybe Adult me will think differently but I remember hating 2. Fans who only played 2 loved it though.
@@GamingMyWholeLife Thanks for the information. It sounds like only experiencing the first game was a good thing for me after all. 👍🏻
I'd still give it a chance if they also made it 😅 but yeah, u got the better experience
Why can’t we get Banjo Kazooie remaster?
Because Microsoft is KING in putting Money in the wrong places, lol.
Would love to see that happen ^__^
Very cool. The Sega Saturn version is very good.
The original version 😎
you've unlocked some old ptsd in me reminding me how game cameras turned without joysticks ugh the pain
It truly was a different time but not that painful since better didn't actually exist yet, lol.
I'm hopping for a toggle option between old and updated controls ^__^
The game graphics look EXACTLY how it looked on PS1 when I nostalgically think back to it as a kid 😅
It's got a big old special place in my heart!
yeah, the covered TOMBI Limited Run Games, I can imagine them doing this as well
Oh that's pretty awesome!!
I can't remember which Game I bought first but the Nintendo Wii was my first with my own money and pre order ^__^
I must be the only person on earth who enjoys tank controls and finds them satisfying...
I actually also like Tank Controls and I miss them in the Resident Evil Series with the fixed Camera Angles
Thanks for the comparison, really appreciate it (gave a like and all that)
As a side note, i do wanna mention that i believe you're confusing a "Remaster" with a "Remake", the latter being what was done for Spyro and Bandicoot.
Yeah, I know of the differences but I like to use those Games as a bit of a visual benchmark 🙂
I think the visuals in CROC can easily be improved further while staying true to the original Art Style 😎
No idea about cut content
I'm legit so excited about the remaster to be honest, my sister and I played both croc 1 and 2 so much as kids on the PS1 so it holds a lot of nostalgia to me.
I'm with you!
CROC was my very first proper 3D Platformer and it was such a magical time
Better than gex at least, but yeah, they still should have sprung for more updates than this. It kinda reads like texture mod, with some more subdevided models. it still needs more geometry, and actual lighting.
I'm hoping to see more as well. I understand maybe not having much of a budget but surely we can get more than clearer textures?
FFX music in a Croc Legend Of The Gobbo video... Yep, that's enough interest for today 😎
😂😂 It's always interesting to see who pics up on the random Video Game Tracks playing in the background
I'm excited for this. The main thing that keeps me from going back to croc is the controls. I can't stand them. Being able to just play it like a normal platformer and wallow in the nostalgia would be very welcome.
Looks like your one issue with the series is about to be resolved!!
personally i'm extremely happy that its 1 to 1 HD remaster. this game holds a very special place
My most successful video!! I didn't realise how many other people also loved this Game
No a Remaster can easily have better visuals, while staying true to the original Art Style 😎
I'm aware of the differences with actual Remakes. ✌🏻
Means the original Game will be respected in every way 😃
Can't wait to slowly rotate that Camera as we take in that Beautiful World 🌈🌏
All I want from both Croc 1 and 2 PSX variants.
Is to hear the entire OST remastered or remixed as they simply do not make music like this all that much anymore.
Crash/Spyro games I had the same thing going on "Absolute curiosity on how they slightly modernize the stage tracks."
Point in case, Croc games have one too many good tracks.
Their music really was and still is MAGIC. Truly takes you away ♥️
You sure do 😃
So unexpected and a wonderful surprise!!
They have remained oddly silent since the announcement, I'm hoping a new trailer drops soon and revealing some more details 🙂
They should be aiming at new fans as well, not just old who will try this for nostalgia sake
@@GamingMyWholeLife Yeah I can’t help but think it isn’t the best strategy in today’s competitive market to implement such subtle changes to a game that was last seen in the 90s but I guess some will appreciate its charm!
Fans will and I'm one of them.
Just feels like a missed opportunity because it would not have taken much to entice new players as well.
It be cool if it will be both Croc 1 and 2 that be great. I played them both on playstation and gameboy
Yeah TOMBI was released just the first as well and the 2nd will come next year. CROC will likely follow if the first is profitable enough
Im very excited to play this game, i played very few video games when i was a kid, but i loved the shizz out of Croc! Im really happy i have an opportunity to explore all, over again!
Time to revisit that Child Hood!!
All the Colours and the music holds up BIG TIME 😍
I love that it looks so visually similar. If they decide to do a new Croc game or something I'd be fine with mixing things up, but it's awesome to see the art style I know and love, just polished up!
Fingers crossed this is the Rebirth of CROC as a series and we can look forward to a whole new entry 👀🦎
I played this on the old computers at my daycare! I’m definitely getting it when it comes out! I do kinda wish they did 1 & 2 but we’ll take what we can get ammirite?
In this day and age, thats right hahaha
Plus a CROC 2 will likely happen if the first is a success for them .
Would love to see a third entry!
Do we know these are the original people at Argonaut and not just some company that purchased the rights to the name and zombified it?
I'm seeing some original members talking about it on X but not sure on direct involvement
I just hope it doesn't become too easy now because platforming won't be hard. Fingers Crossed the devs make some tweaks to counter that : )
I think that they could maintain the "retro PS1" graphics, like Lunistice, I love this game! Just modernize the controls!
Looks like thats exactly what they are doing 😎
I'm sure if CROC is a success, we can expect the 2nd entry to follow. Just like what is happening with TOMBI / TOMBA 😁
@@GamingMyWholeLife oh yeah good point. I ended up buying that one too recently.
Loving that Game 😁
I reviewed that on Launch day. Shame they didn't rouch up the visuals at all but I'm still happy + can save and rewind which is very handy!
@@GamingMyWholeLife the rewind feature is amazing! Especially on the sly cooper 1 port earlier this year! I had a blast replaying it on PS5!
I remember I was so impressed Graphically with Sly Cooper on PS2. It felt soo smooth and felt like an actual cartoon with that Cell Shaded Magic ✨
Is it just a remaster or a proper remake with modern day assets like the Spyro and Crash games?
Just a Remaster with cleaned up textures and improved controls at this stage
You're still comparing it to an HD emulated version, so it looks even better than the original
That it does and I will not miss the warping effect either
This is all I wanted from the Spyro remakes. Way too many creative liberties with that.
Well looks like your in luck. During Gameplay you easily mistake it for the original
Is there any info on whether this remaster is essentially just a port of the same game engine with cleaned up assets?
I think what they could have done while reserving the original aesthetic and modelling is perhaps adding in modern lighting (Not RTX as such)
That probably would have brought life to it without changing much.
There is a lot that could have easily been done here that would not have inflated the budget too much. As I said in the video, even a dot for a shadow is still used, lol.
I'm hoping more is revealed soon and maybe some visual options that can be toggled on and off to keep everyone happy. I would LOVE to see Depth Of Field used in this... my dream
It's better than how the Gex trilogy is being handled.
Like they just did a high poly low poly model, it's really weird lol
Oh, that and stretched UVs in the maps make me a little sad.
But I'm definitely buying this because i love croc so much
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about the separate meshes are well.
An odd choice and an even safer bet would have been to not have it like that.
I think modern consoles can handle that base mesh deformation, lolo
As some others have pointed out and I agree. The Grass needs some work as well.
It's literally Green Clay at this point hahaha
Otherwise super excited here and it's great to see so much love for CROC.
Honestly, I'll take it. The fact that it has any new life being given to it at all makes me happy, I loved this games as a kid.
Felt like it would never happen. Been asking for DECADES and suddenly it is uppon us 🥳🦎
I prefer this over what Crash/Spyro got.
Those remakes changed the games' art styles pretty heavily (especially for Spyro) and they lost some of the original charm. This just feels like good old Croc with a higher resolution.
I feel like they nailed the look with those trilogies. Crash 4 does have some questionable choices though regarding art (concerning the females).
Glad your ready to relive a Magical Time in your Childhood!!
All the colours and sounds ❤🌈
So glad to see so many people excited in the comments
Now he looks like the croc from the cover art, so I couldn't be happier
Yeah that's not a bad thing at all!
