    One of my daughters got me a picnic table cloth that has elastic all around the edge. Stays on the table nicely in the wind, is plastic so it's easy to wipe off, and obviously covers the entire table top. Love it.

    • @5bites
      @5bites  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds great! I have not seen a picnic tablecloth that had elastic on it. Only thing I see at the stores are the disposable ones with maybe some metal clips to hold it down. But I always make sure I put something down on the picnic table, the critters like to dine on top of them as well. LOL Take care my friend!

    You got the right idea, 5 Bites. The truck set up is perfect. Some people get carried away with the truck camper setups. They want the Waldorf Astoria….lol. If you wanna take a weekend in a resort, go to a resort! What you have is all ya need for truck camping, and then some. I think your rig is pretty comfy. Loved the video! Just one concern, those heaters always worry me. Does it have a coil inside it that can start a fire! I always worry those things will tip over and cause a fire while sleeping. Always be safe and be well. Thank you.

    • @5bites
      @5bites  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Tommy and thank you my friend! No worries on the heater , I specifically got one that has the tip proof feature. It has a pressure switch on the bottom so if it gets knocked over on its side or even upside down it'll automatically shut off. I agree, sometimes people get fancy with their setups. But to each his own I suppose. Personally I prefer the simple and practical approach to camping. Which also means that's left stuff I have to pack clean and bring home LOL. Anyway, Just my opinion. Take care!

      Thank you my friend and I agree with you on the biscuits and gravy LOL. As for the condensation I think, and that's just a guess, that it has to do with the fact that I use fleece for my curtains. Red's setup is well thought out and caters to your specific needs well. Both fan options are a good idea to circulate the cool or hot air as needed. Do you have an AC to DC converter so you can run the heater or other things if you happen to get a campsite without electric? Nice camping trip and the Biscuits and gravy is nice cool weather food. Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and a vegetable might be a good idea for an upcoming meal too.

    Sausage gravy and biscuits, a great meal any time, but especially for breakfast. I make a point of having a biscuits and gravy breakfast at Bob Evans whenever I'm on a trip. No lie I started cracking up when you showed the ceiling fan, definitely unique compared to most truck campers I've seen on YT. Biscuits and gravy on a cold evening sounds yummy, but think I would've cracked an egg on the side.
    One question, are you going to go in depth on your power system? I'm assuming you have an inverter hooked up to the deep cycle battery? How long does a charge last, when you run your space heater, USB lights, charge gopro batteries, and the DVD player? Oh, the DVD player...ahhh that brought back memories of the cross country road trips I took solo with my toddler. She's older now but we've since switched to a tablet and downloading shows off Netflix for a simpler approach to entertainment.

    • @5bites
      @5bites  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well my friend honestly I think I'm the only truck camper out there that actually has a ceiling fan LOL. I've actually looked. Well, I had not planned to go to in depth on my power system but I can answer a few of your questions. I do have a 1000 Watt inverter that I use in the spring through fall. In the winter months I use the electric sites so I don't need to bring it along, The only thing I use it for during that time is Inflating the air mattress, it has an auto inflate fan. Also since I only use the heater in the winter months I use the electric site hookup for that. Everything else in the back of Red Can be run off of the 12V system. All of the 12V components have a very minimum draw as far as the battery is concerned. I can easily take a two night trip, run everything back there if I should choose to and still not drain out the battery entirely. My memory is not what it used to be LOL, so if you remind me late spring or early summer perhaps I'll do a walkthrough of my power system that way I can show the inverter as well as everything else. Apologies for the long winded response. Take care my friend!

    Thanks for another great video! I was wondering how you raise your tailgate at night. I've seen a lot of folks who close it up and then climb over to get into the camper at night and that would be tough with a bad knee. Dinner is one of my favourites, but I can't find country gravy mix up here in Canada. The sausage up here is no hell either! I have to go stateside to get good biscuits and gravy. Cheers from Ontario!

      Hi Kevin and thank you my friend! Well I'm sorry to hear that you have to travel so far for some decent biscuits and gravy my friend. I don't know for certain but maybe you could get some from Amazon? (As far as the gravy mix) I can say it's really popular here in the states. Keep warm my friend from Ontario and I will see you next week! Take care

    4:43 have you considered upgrading to a lithium battery? Last year I upgraded my slide in truck camper to lithium and it’s made a world of a difference for us.

      Hi Alex! I have looked into them to be honest. I think I might go that route but right now I'm waiting for the current battery I have to croak LOL. Take care my friend!

    Love to watch what you cook and how you cook it. May I ask where the name 5 bites comes from?

      Thank you my friend! My Channel name, this explanation may be a little lengthy but I don't mind explaining it at all. Growing up I spent a lot of time with my uncle who taught me quite a bit about the outdoors, camping, hunting and bass fishing. During the spring through the fall we spent a lot of weekends either on the lake or in the woods. More so on the lakes because he was an avid bass fisherman. Every time we would go bass fishing he would always say we only need “five bites” (In Indiana a limit of bass is a total of five fish) With his help I actually became pretty good at bass fishing, at least well enough that I started fishing in tournaments and did pretty well. Unfortunately at this time he also was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and could no longer go on our little weekend trips any more. I would still see him often and we would always discuss my fishing tournaments and one thing he always told me was that “all you need are five bites”. He passed away in 2014 and years later, while I was searching for a name for my channel, I thought I would name it “5 Bites” in his memory. He truly did help encourage my love of the outdoors and that's how I came up with my channel name. Thank you for asking my friend and take care!

    How do you hook up your cigarette lighter to the battery for power

    • @5bites
      @5bites  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Inside my little shelf/storage area I mounted two bus bars which I ran all my 12 Volt wiring to. I then took one Leed off of each bar and brought them out to the battery with a large Alligator clamp on each one. It was easier to do it that way than to run each connection to the battery. I hope that answers your question my friend. Take care
