Couldn't agree more. It's not what's easy to keep, but what are we willing to do to help our pet thrive. Definitely community support is the greatest tool.

Well said! My first reptile was a female Nosy Faly Panther. I was nervous so I read and watched and absorbed all the information I could find. It’s how I found you Bill 😊. I tell folks Cham aren’t hard they are specific. You learn how to meet their specific needs in your specific environment, get their parameters correct, and you’re golden. I absolutely agree they aren’t for the casual pet keeper. It takes work to get the recipe right. Such a great way to say it, Bill.

Not enough space for my thoughts but here's 1; I'd argue that successfully keeping certain amphibians gives better experience towards certain chams than any reptile. I'm on my 7th female veiled rescue from "beginners" and I know that saving them is more of an art than a science. Intuition and intellect, hours of stealthy daily observation, and lots of experience coupled with years of research are essential when caring for sick/injured female veiled. I have to direct my DVM on diagnostics and treatment cuz not very many "exotic" vets know how to treat chams. In short, Chams are not for the "average beginner" but with the help of an expert one could succeed with a CB panther or male veiled.

I like this position. Beginner reptiles sends the wrong message. If you are willing to put in the time to research and care for a chameleon then I agree it can be a first reptile. Why get a reptile that truly isn't what you want. Whenever I see someone asking questions about chameleon care and husbandry, I steer them to the Academy! I love when Adam talks about how hard chameleons are and then shows our boy Pascal...lol.

This is all very new so we will see the long term results coming in as more people work with this technology. I know ExoTerra will be coming out with something similar so we will see this technology more accessible as the months go by.
