  • Sanctus was composed as part of the St. Cecilia Mass (Messe Solonelle de St. Cecilia) by Charles-Francois Gounod. The "Sanctus" section is the climax of the mass.
The solo is sung by Tenor Drew Duncan accompanied by the Plymouth Summer Choir on August 25, 2013.

I remember the first time I heard this song. My cousin sung in The Metropolitan Opera. She recently died. I have always loved how she sung it.
Rest In Peace my dear Cousin Jessye Norman.

This is not a song. This is a Latin Proper, the Kyrie Eleison, taken from the traditional Latin Mass.
Unfortunate that it was done in a Protestant setting, as it was intended for a Catholic setting according to the mind of its composer, Charles Gounod, a devout Catholic.
