I’m sorry you had a bad experience today! There have been times in the past where I’ve encountered cashiers like that. But you know, we just don’t know what’s going on in each other’s lives. I have actually called people out before by saying I’m noticing you are having a tough time today/or struggling today. Are you ok? Is there anything I can do to help you? It usually gets right through that bad attitude and down to that “real” person. A few times, the person has actually shared their difficult circumstances with me. I told them I was so sorry, and that I would pray for their situation. You then have a friend for life. Danny, I’m not saying you didn’t handle things correctly. It sounds like the mgr was really inappropriate too. I just feel like we all need to be compassionate with each other. The world would be so much better if we were!
A very nice reminder. Just because it happened once (or twice) doesn’t mean the person is always like that. When you ask them a question they may just want to be recognized as a person or just needed you to say something to snap them out of their ‘moment’.

That terra cotta pot with the insert is for African violets which should be watered from the bottom! The flatbottomed decanter is called a ship's decanter--the flat bottom would have kept it from moving when seas were rough! I don't know about Nevada, but here in Maine, some of the GW employees have mental illness and are overwhelmed when I overload the counter. I have learned to have patience with them.
I would’ve still bought the pinecone lamp, and touched it up - noting the small repair in the listing in capital letters. Having the matching finial makes it pretty fantastic
I have two really good, super pleasant, and friendly Goodwill stores near me that I shop in all the time. There are also a couple not so great Goodwill stores too. I even have one that doesn't have any bags to put your items in at all. I always carry my own bags when I shop there so I will have something to put my items in. I only shop there about three or four times a year and have never been there when anything was on a tag color sale.
When I find pieces like the yellow Temptations dish, I put it in my cart because I might find matching pieces as I continue shopping. If I don't, it's usually gone when I go back to grab it. When I'm done going through the store, I find a spot where I can look over each item in my cart and put back what I don't think will sell at my price point and/or I find damage I didn't see before! If I have time, I go through the store one more time to see what other shoppers have put back on the shelf!
The other day I bought a temptations item and stand for no other reason than I see Danni excited to buy them. What do you do about pricing them and see what you can sell them for. I am trying to spread my sales to other than women's clothing.
I don't agree with this style of shopping, while you have that in your cart there is someone who may not need to do research to know they want that item, it is unfair to them and the store for you to take it knowing you may not purchase it. If you are going to look something up, do it on the spot and make the decision so if you don't buy it someone else has the opportunity!
The wooden hanging plate is from Germany, hand carved out of the Black Forest region. I had about nine of them that I purchased in the mid 80's when I was stationed in Frankfurt. I sold them at a garage sale...oh how I wish I could have all of my garage sale items back!
Loved you found a Clapper! My 8 yr. asked for one for C-Mas that year. She was delighted. Her cousins laughed so hard to see she got one. Good memories 💖🎄💖
Isabel Blooms are made locally to me. They outsourced some if their work to China in the mid 2000's and in 2010 brought all production back to the US. The ones produced in the USA are worth more. The thrift store shelves here are full of them but they mark them up even if they are chipped. I have a nice collection of them.
I enjoy watching you, friends & sons shop! Our goodwills in TX actually are in competition with each other to see whom can make the most. And, they pull most of the color of the day items prior to being that color. They get everything for free! They don't pay good wages & the CEO's make more in one year than we will in a lifetime!

I have experienced employees who just don't care before. They've chipped my items and I didn't find out until I got home. I can not understand how employees think putting breakables in a bag unwrapped is a good idea. It's just like you said, calm down and find the love to get back to who you are. I have learned to bring my own bags and paper when I can now, it's really all you can do. I'm so sorry you've had 2 bad experiences there, you're such a kind person. ❤

You passed up TWO 1.75 liter Clase Azul Mexican pottery tequila bottles! One sold on eBay within the month for $146.50 plus $20 shipping... with an auction!!! All sizes are worth picking up!!! The lower priced buy-it-now ones get swooped up immediately. Definitely a situation where an auction is beneficial. When you picked the one up, I got super excited for you... but then when you put it back down, I literally screamed at the computer, "NO!!! DANNI!!! NO!!!" :)
They wrap nothing and do not have boxes ever at my daughters in NJ...luckily here in WV..they do still wrap...They get this stuff for free....the prices here are CRAZY...you have amazing inventory,...and prices...just bigger area...

I’m going to ask the question that keeps coming up for me…first, why does goodwill, thrift stores etc continue to put the label over top of the maker mark and second, why is it considered a no-no to peel the label…can anyone help me?
The people pricing are going as fast as possible and not even thinking about the marks - they don't understand how valuable that information is for us. When the label gets peeled it makes it difficult to scan if the bar code is disrupted
Oh that was in that Good Will, same thing happens in other "stores". Customer service is an unknown thing now. They totally forget that the customer is paying. That bad "service" is also seen in doctors offices, government offices, DMV. I will stop now. If this doesn't change quickly, on line purchases will continue to grow, cashier will be a thing of the past. Even a Bot says good morning. Thanks for sharing.

Long story short my first big flip was a fiberglass spun spaghetti Swag lamp and I bought it for $8 sold it for $250 I really would have loved to keep it but I had no room for it but I did come across another and it’s the same exact lamp you held up I bought it off eBay and it got broken in transit bc it wasn’t packaged properly (they should have watched your videos first) but I got it at a good price to begin with so I’ll still love it even though it’s broken
Maybe the reason that GW has so much good stuff on the shelves is because the cashier(s) are so unpleasant. I wouldn't let that stop me from shopping there, they shouldn't win due to nastiness! Where do you get your sold comps? Do you use the highest sold price? You found some great items, love the lime colored bunny, my Mom had a teal colored penguin like that, he sat by the refrigerator so he was quite big, don't know whatever happened to him but would love to find one like him someday!
I look at all pricing and if there is a wide range I go to the middle on comps even though I price on the higher side and usually get close to my price.

Hi Danni, hoping you can help explain your $20 rule a little better. I thought I understood. Let's say you pick something up for $5... are you asking yourself if you can sell it for at least $25? Sincerely just looking to learn/understand better and not contesting.
I was trying to figure that out also. Sometimes she picks up something for $6 and then triples it to $18 instead of wanting $26. Sometimes it is $5 and she says “I can get $20 for this.” It is her own profit model but I am not sure about her theory.
@@jodiely7983 I notice that too and thus why I'm confused lol. It hasn't happened a couple times, but rather about half the items that are picked up. I think the key is that we need to be persistent in this rule (if part of individual business model) if we really want to be consistent in profits. Otherwise, we may be making no money at all on items. It's important to stay consistant. Especially for those who are just starting out. IMO 😉🤷♀️
I want items that will sell for $20 or more - and the more I spend the more I have to be aware how much more than $20 I need. For instance I can sell something I purchased for $5 at $20 and that is great - but if I pay $9 for something I want to at least triple my money getting $27 or more. Does that make more sense? The $20 rule keeps me safe from purchasing items that are not paying me enough for my time to deal with them.

After doing the quick "× 3" or "× 4" check, it sounds like you just want to be sure you can meet sell it for a minimum of $20 to make it worth your while. That makes sense. I think I'm just getting hung up on how the increase (between × 3 or × 4) is determined and where that line is drawn. Or maybe it just fluctuates on a case by case basis?
It is listed at $17.68 on sale (down from $19.99) online. Not everyone has a Walmart to walk into to purchase my comps are based on actual sold listings ;-)

Thank goodness I have not experienced anyone rude for quite some time, and you are sure nicer than me about it because if it would happen again, I assure if I will call their corporate office!!! I have been in the Hospitality Industry for 45 yrs and probably why I do not accept that type of behavior. It might irritate them that they know you are a reseller which is none of their business. I heard an employee make a rude comment about it people buying things cheap and selling really high (she looked for it on marketplace). My store is soooo good to me but when an employee came out from the back at end of her shift, to a rolling rack that I was looking at stuff, rudely grabbed about 6 - 8 items on the very end right out from me to purchase, of course I complained to a manager. She did it to me again just this week again but I did not say anything. If it happens again since the manager said she would address it I will call their corporate office. She works in the back pricing and is not one ounce friendly!!! They should never approach a cart or rolling rack until a customer has walked away (they are not supposed to be buying anything on a day they work). My rant is over... You are too kind of a person to be treated in this manner. How is your Mom? Have not seen you shopping with her or are you like me and will not allow my Mom to go into stores since Covid...

I look at all pricing and if there is a wide range I go to the middle on comps even though I price on the higher side and usually get close to my price.

Haha! I missed that part - my dog hears the music at the end and thinks the “show” is over and starts bugging me to go out or just for attention, so I sometimes get distracted! Haha - I’m a good guesser!

Hi Danni, hoping you can help explain your $20 rule a little better. I thought I understood. Let's say you pick something up for $5... are you asking yourself if you can sell it for at least $25? Sincerely just looking to learn/understand better and not contesting.
I was trying to figure that out also. Sometimes she picks up something for $6 and then triples it to $18 instead of wanting $26. Sometimes it is $5 and she says “I can get $20 for this.” It is her own profit model but I am not sure about her theory.
@@jodiely7983 I notice that too and thus why I'm confused lol. It hasn't happened a couple times, but rather about half the items that are picked up. I think the key is that we need to be persistent in this rule (if part of individual business model) if we really want to be consistent in profits. Otherwise, we may be making no money at all on items. It's important to stay consistant. Especially for those who are just starting out. IMO 😉🤷♀️
I want items that will sell for $20 or more - and the more I spend the more I have to be aware how much more than $20 I need. For instance I can sell something I purchased for $5 at $20 and that is great - but if I pay $9 for something I want to at least triple my money getting $27 or more. Does that make more sense?
The $20 rule keeps me safe from purchasing items that are not paying me enough for my time to deal with them.
@@TheNICHELady I think so. You gave examples of tripling or quadrupling the original price and using that as a goal... that is helpful. After doing the quick "× 3" or "× 4" check, it sounds like you just want to be sure you can meet sell it for a minimum of $20 to make it worth your while. That makes sense. I think I'm just getting hung up on how the increase (between × 3 or × 4) is determined and where that line is drawn. Or maybe it just fluctuates on a case by case basis?

Thank goodness I have not experienced anyone rude for quite some time, and you are sure nicer than me about it because if it would happen again, I assure if I will call their corporate office!!! I have been in the Hospitality Industry for 45 yrs and probably why I do not accept that type of behavior. It might irritate them that they know you are a reseller which is none of their business. I heard an employee make a rude comment about it people buying things cheap and selling really high (she looked for it on marketplace). My store is soooo good to me but when an employee came out from the back at end of her shift, to a rolling rack that I was looking at stuff, rudely grabbed about 6 - 8 items on the very end right out from me to purchase, of course I complained to a manager. She did it to me again just this week again but I did not say anything. If it happens again since the manager said she would address it I will call their corporate office. She works in the back pricing and is not one ounce friendly!!! They should never approach a cart or rolling rack until a customer has walked away (they are not supposed to be buying anything on a day they work). My rant is over... You are too kind of a person to be treated in this manner. How is your Mom? Have not seen you shopping with her or are you like me and will not allow my Mom to go into stores since Covid...
