If Sony wants to stop their consoles from being hacked, they need a system settings option that has a custom frame rate slider that goes from 30fps up to 120fps for PS4, PS3, PS2 and PSP games with a message pop up saying: ‘The game may break as its not intended to work at this frame rate by the developer. Do this at your own risk.’ Press Yes or No.

Not necessarily related, but the Wii U followed in the steps of the Wii and is unbelievably easy to hack. Nintendo will never patch the Wii U at this point, and it's more powerful than the Wii, so I'd say it's worth it.

The switch is a bit more difficult though since the reset hack requires shorting two pins on the console itself
@@superstar64You can literally do it with a piece of tinfoil or a paperclip if you don't buy the little doo-dad online. Not exactly that hard.

You know I never really tried hacking my PS4 as I can’t seem to find an easier solution to doing so but hacking a console that’s only 3 years old seems rather interesting.
Hacking any console is kinda easy.

Hacking PS4 took me about 30 minutes of work, but I was lucky to have the option to upgrade to 9.00 (or whatever the exploitable version was, before they patched it) and just left it that way.
@@GM-Shenmue The comment I was replying to was "hacking any console is easy." The reasons for it, which are more than simply "it has dev mode" btw, are irrelevant. Hacking the Xbone and Series X/S is not easy as there are no publicly available hacks (if any exist at all) and the security architecture is designed around extensive use of hypervisors.
Edit: if you're curious as to why this distinction matters, you can't dump the firmware for emulation. So preservation is a big concern for them.
I have a Launch Day PS5 on firmware 1.02. So excited to see what comes to the PS5 Jailbreaking scene! It's seeming to moving more steadily now than before.
lol I sold my launch day ps3 with launch firmware for like $1k on eBay when all the PS3 jailbraking stuff started popping off
so either you can have a lot of fun (recommended) or you can probably 1.5-2x your money over what you paid (unless you bought it scalped)

Muta, you forgot to mention that those who have 2.70 firmware and below, stay the heck there and don't update because there's a hypervisor exploit that's still private
The only people who could have that firmware are people who bought an extra PS5 at launch and never used it. And if you consider the shortage I don't think there are many.

Absolutely right, people that buy a game today at a game store are only getting a key on disc, you still need to download the game.

@@DeathSquad-fy2enyeah I thought this too but this is wrong. It's as above said it needs to be copied as reading off disc causes load times. However patches aren't ever written to his disc so it'll always be a shitty 1.0 version of the game
Yeah cause games used to be a few mb, now they need to be copied over to a faster drive.

When he said "Im at the age where I just want to sit down and hold a controller" I can relate so much. So real. I've always shit on PS5, after I actually got it. Gaming on it feels so nice, even though I have a 3090 PC. The fact with PS5 I wont get distracted. Is so nice.
living in brazil, during my childhood, I always had my consoles be "unlocked" as they call here... it was the NORM... (mostly for piracy reasons)
but I could only experience a TRUE hacked console in my 3DS... I managed to hack it myself after a lot of failed attempts... the problem is that I somehow only was able to do it on a VERY SMALL SD CARD... so it's useless other than changing backgrounds and running music...

@@vodkawhisperer3923They did the PS Vita very dirty but it does have bangers. Games like Persona and Gravity Rush, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Ratchet And Clank Collection, Metal Gear Solid 3, Hotline Miami 1 & 2, Mortal Kombat, etc.
After watching Muta's video on 23andMe getting hacked a few days ago I've realized that Mutahar spits so much in his videos that his biometric data is probably already spread everywhere over Canada.

16:15 HA dude what a cool surprise to find out you and i had the same idea a few months ago, i unfortunately had to start over after swapping out the HDD for a 1TB WD SSD but i managed to install HEN and it’s been a blast replaying everything in one system since i bought pretty cheap but robust controllers and backed up all my discs onto the SSD using MULTIMAN
fuckin love multiman, it and ferrox cobra along with webman installed is all anyone needs to experience the full ps3 library

What's so cool about libhijacker is no piracy is required. You play the game off the actual disc and the payload sideloads the patches. Amazing stuff.

Game companies can call the start and select buttons whatever they want. Im always going to call them... the start and the select button. They have been called that for decades decades so unless they start slapping numb pads back on controllers again Its start and select.
I play my vita daily. Modding it makes it god tier. Especially being able to use sd2vita and patching foreign games with English patches.

My apologies, what does a 40nm RSX do that makes is compatible?
@@MrCruz-iq3sc Improper wording i suppose on my part. If I remember correctly it's the PS3 processing chip and has nothing to do with the backwards compatibility. Think the proper language would've been to praise the 40nm chip working in the CECHA01 rather than saying it's compatible. Either way it's a nice benefit for the CECHA01 model when playing PS3 games themselves.
@@Ezz0Clan As you said in your last comment, the RSX chip had nothing to do with BC, it was all due to the EE chip that was physically present in the first gen fat PS3s! Tbh I wouldn't recommend replacing it with the 40nm as it is just more heat and less efficient. Its counterproductive but cool nonetheless!
@@nealkashya I don't necessarily know whether or not that is true since you would think new processing node would require less power consumption and would be made to better the performance. But honestly, if you go through the process of soldering new chip into modded console, might as well throw Noctua cooler ontop of it as well lmao.
2:53 This is why I've been using my PC in the living room for a few years now. Even on my Steam Deck I ofte dock it to the TV and use a controller.
Just fyi I have heard the three line button you were talking about referred to as the "hamburger button" or if it's on a computer interface it usually opens up a menu so it would be the "hamburger menu" due to the resemblance to a patty between two buns.
I'm here just dreaming for a Yuzu/Ryujinx port to SX/PS5.

The thing with Xbox is that you don't even need to hack them, they just flat out give us Developer Mode for like $20 or whatever.

Dev Mode on Xbox is probably the biggest case of a hidden godlike feature, because it actually does what most people want, a powerful console where you can have full control over it and use it in any way you want. I think the Switch is the only "current" gen system i have used the most for its dedicated hardware. But in general, i've been using my Xbox series for emulation (and a few games thanks to BC), PS5 for Tower of Fantasy, but i might look into this a bit more once the homebrew community for this evolves a little more, and the Switch because of THE SWITCH itself LOL.
But Dev Mode is basically letting you skip all the extra steps and actually have the closest we can get to "legal emulation" on console. Or just Homebrew in general. And i wish other companies would allow for that, at least the idea of paying whatever amount but to have a full control over your console and do basically whatever you want and see possible with it.

9:44 Arkham Knight on PC definitely aged better over time. The launch was horrendous and is often credited as the reason Valve added refund capability to Steam (it may not be the only reason but it certainly is linked). It's been a while and offhand I can't think of how updates really affected it, but whatever they did, it's better now and it's also been eight years since it released so PC hardware has advanced a lot since then as well. It's a great game though and I'm glad it runs well on modern PCs including the Steam Deck.

It has always been my dream to dive into emulation. But I worry that I am not technically minded enough to even figure out half this shit. But I wanna try. I wanna be able to turn my Series S into an emulator of all things, from PlayStation games to running Windows 98 with a mouse and keyboard. I also wanna someday own a SteamDeck... if it ever comes to Australia, and turn that beast into an emulator of all things. Until then, I can only watch other people on what I can't even try to do.

@3:49 Correction, The CPU had plenty of power but what most devs do as we've discovered this gen is make games for the "power" the PS5 has but never bother coding/optimizing using Xbox's additional power as time is money.

I’ve loved modding/hacking every one of my consoles since I was soft modding the Xbox when I 10. Got to it right away and got all the ratchet and clank titles working. Beautiful underrated handheld
I never had a ps4 or ps5 but I finally tried the VR version of PT on PC and it's pretty cool.
Kind of funny though I have a launch day PS5 that I barely play until a really exciting first party title comes out. I actually saw that there was an exploit available and hadn't played or turned on my PS5 in over a year so I had a super old firmware version that was hackable. But the whole reason I turned it on was to play God Of War and so I updated because I was impatient and didn't feel like going through all this trouble just to hack my system. Oh well.
You can get free PC games and Switch games with a PC and if you love the console experience of sitting on a couch just hook an HDMI cable from your PC to your TV. Your TV is just a giant monitor. Then you can even run the PC with "Steam Big Picture Mode" to give a console experience and launch games with a controller the same way. But with way better graphics and framerates.

Funny enough, I bet some of the PS5s that were scalped and never sold would have early enough firmware for this trick. That said, don't buy from them. Later hacks will come out.

I remember running linux natively on my ps3 before they stole that functionality away.
Yeah.. that was weird how they had an official Linux kit, then just sort of flipped to "no, you can't run stuff". If they'd kept the support for Linux, I'd probably have become a console gamer and moved to PlayStation for my fun, and used the Linux part for the work style stuff. But nope. I'll stick with actual Linux on my regular PC.

You can turn a PC into a console, or connect one to a TV physically or remotely. Couch gaming isn't an excuse.
As another point, consoles deliberately make their controllers prone to stick drift instead of using hall effect sensors. You get a better experience on PC especially with controller choice.
I've still got my modded ps3 I haven't played it In awhile I need to take it apart and add new thermal paste I gotta say though being able to run retroarch and installing all my games on to the hard drive made it so much better
