Honestly, I think starting with a faster souls games might make the slower ones feel more difficult than they should be because of how slow you. I know for me that starting with the slower, clunkier, DS1 just made the latter games feel like an upgrade in control and made them more enjoyable in some aspects even though I'm still a sucker for the slow methodical movement of the first three souls.
I never had any real problems with ds2 enemy population or with the rolling I’m more interested in how others play the game if they are getting overwhelmed cause just taking your time can completely change it and how some encounters can be done. Other then ds2 I agree with this list very well done
Did you know that in ds2 you can simply walk around, to circle left or right, most bosses so they can’t hit you? Because I didn’t. And this discovery on YT opened my eyes. No rolls needed.
I think a lot of people just rely on the lockon at all times so the actually not too difficult multi encounters feel unfair because you can't easily switch targets while locked on. But for all the praise I'll give DS2, it is not a good starting game.
IMO DS1 is the best game to start, has a good tutorial level, has the easiest to learn mechanics, it’s not too fast paced. Everyone I know that had a gripe with starting in the older game ended up super happy they started with ds1
I do agree, but just personally i know that a lot of people i have got into souls games have said that ds1 was quite cluncky which i do agree with but it still is incredible
My first ever souls game was Elden ring picked it up at the beginning of the year and I’m already about to be on new game plus 2 waiting for the summer sale so I can pick up DS3 and playing with my friends
not a soulsborne but close enough, Sekiro is THE BEST entry point for fromsoft, it FULLY explains its mechanics, it doesn't have the pitfall of messing up your build.(luck increases bleed? yeah makes perfect sense) its only downside when it comes to tutorials is how it just pops up mid-fight which makes most people skip it, they should've had a "tutorials" tab where you can view all the tutorial messages. I think people who already played soulsborne just take for granted how things work. Like... the game doesn't tell you that rolling has s, maybe if you've played a bunch of arpgs it would just be trivial to you but we're talking beginners here. Scaling is not explained either, defence(flat and absorption) is not explained AND is just flat out wrong, straight up numbers are lies. I might sound nit-picky but everything I mentioned is literally on the very first page when you enter your equipment tab. Other mechanics are just hidden like poise and stance breaks. Going in 100% blind, with no experience in soulslikes or souls-adjacents is an utterly miserable experience for a beginner.
Ahr Thank you for the Speach in the last Minutes...couse i started with the DemonSouls Remake and i love it 😂Now im not feeling like I started with a Mid Game 😅
I actually started with DS2-which I’m very grateful for because I fell in love with it before playing any of the others. Now having beat all the rest of them several times- DS2 is my least favorite but still has a lot of nostalgic value to me
Dark Souls 3 has: - Best boss quality in general - Best boss OSTs (SoC, Nameless King, Yhorm, Vordt, Gundyr, Gael, Twin Princes and many more) - Best setting (out of all Souls games, DS3 feels the only one to really put the "dark" into "dark fantasy" - Best DLCs - Best multiplayer system and mechanics - Best hitboxes - Best weapon upgrade/infusion system - Best movesets and combat flow
Ds2 did some things that were amazing and others that were terrible. I don't mind too many enemies because DS2 really teaches you how to deal with crowd control. However, ADP was a huge mistake, and the amount of bad bosses is another issue. However, it had some of the best PVP in the entire franchise, bonfire aesthetics to get new game plus items, re-spec, power stance was first introduced. Great amount of builds and variety and great fashion souls. I don't think it should ever go into terrible tier
Elden ring brought me to the souls franchise and became one of my favorite games of all time with 200+ hours and plat trophy, now im on ds3 plat grind and the covenant grind is ridiculous, in my opinion as someone who picked both games almost at the same time I have to say elden ring is way better but ds3 still is a really good game to me and I really enjoyed it. When im done with it I have two options sekiro or bloodborne, idk wich one I should try first
bro i saw this video without looking at anything else on youre profile and i was like damn youre videos are so well made and you deserve sm more fame. Also is it weird to say sekiro in my opinion is the easiest game in the soulsborne games? i played all of them and in my opinion sekiro is the easiest, maybe not for begginers but the combat becomes easy after u finish fighting genichiro on top of ashina castle.
I think these thoughts are great I wanna say sekiro is super rough for beginners and nothing prepares you for it but it is for sure one of the greatest games in the series when you get around to it
DS3 had best combat and fluid movement along with best hitboxes and fair difficulty. People give it far less credit than it deserves. Thanks for placing it in god tier.
I think I agree with everything said. I love all the souls games and have beat them to death more than once. Still I think ds2 is the weakest and ds3 has the very best pvp experience and maybe the best bosses. But bloodborne is my absolute favorite. The entire game is an artistic masterpiece.
I think I enjoyed my first playthrough of DS3 the least out of all of the other games. Slim build variety, R1 & roll spam combat, & generally uninspired levels just wore me out. My second playthrough (with DLC this time) was so much better. The DLC levels are incredible, especially compared to the base game. Bosses aren’t what I play these games for, but Gael really does live up to his reputation. Still, I can’t put DS3 over Dark Souls or DS2. The first game is just endlessly replayable, and the atmosphere is so thick. Bloodborne is the only game that has come close to that level of immersion for me. The atmosphere in DS2 isn’t quite as immersive, but it has some of the most interesting environments. Plus the build variety is so fun. Sure, there are some frustrating bits, but I appreciate how eclectic the game feels both in gameplay and visuals. I’m so torn on Elden Ring. On paper, it should be my favorite. But after a NG+ run and a third playthrough on a new character, I have zero desire to go back. Hopefully the DLC changes that!
I personally love DS2 even if I can admit it's the worst of the lot. Great video! I've seen a lot of TH-camrs who do these tier lists in a half-assed way and you pulled through with thorough explanations, entertaining visuals and editing, and lively commentary that kept me interested. I'll give you a sub!
Thanks! I hope you enjoy my future videos, I love it when people comment and give me feedback on my videos. I really appreciate this alot, thank you so much!
DS3 is pretty good for beginners, but even better in terms of replayability. Imho, it's the best in that aspect (and my favorite in general as well!). Elden Ring is just tooooo big. It makes you feel like you spend most of the game in the horse and it basically forces you to never go strength or dex only, which I personally dislike; DS1 has too many shitty areas (Blighttown, Izalith, the catacombs...) and is pretty slow; DS2 is frustrating and clunky af, plus its music makes me depressed; Bloodborne simply doesn't offer as many options for potential builds, and the whole game being dark makes it a bit more monotonous. DS3 is fun to play no matter at which point you're at in the game, it's fast, the animations are at the same level of Elden Ring, the bosses are super varied, you can speedrun it even if you're not a pro (as you won't likely get lost in its world) and it offers a huge variety for builds and pvp... plus its amazing and also varied DLCs. Difficulty is also fair except for maybe Midir, who is hard af (beat him at NG+4 with a str only build, almost killed myself during the process). Got to love this game. The best of From Software.
I don't get the Bloodborne part. Imo, the beginning of the game is terrible for beginners. The first level while being very well designed, is harder than anything until roughly 60% into the game. Same with Gascoine, easily the hardest boss until the mid game. It gives the player a false perception of what is expected later on. The rest with hub area and tutorial...is pretty much standard.
Based on your own criteria, I don't understand how Bloodborne is a good starting place for newcomers. It is mechanically so different from every other souls game it doesn't really prepare you for those in the same way that any other souls game would. Don't get me wrong, Bloodborne is fantastic and my second favorite soulsborne game, but yeah I just mean based on your criteria ranking it that high doesn't make sense. Personally, specifically for newcomers, I would just say to play the one that interests them the most and that they have easy access to (don't go out and buy a new console just to try out your first souls game). But if they had access to every single game and weren't picky with aesthetic preferences, I would recommend they start with Demon's Souls (2009). Generally it makes the most sense to play through a series in release order in my opinion.
I myself started with bloodborne and i truly believe that it changed my experience with every other souls game bloodborne doesn't have shields and is an incredibly fast paced game wich kinda prepares people for other titles such as demon souls wich was the second one i picked, i hated using shields and use heavy armor that made me fat roll but, because i already played through bloodborne wich is way harder the experience was way lighter then i went to play Ds3 and again i made a light character with a gigantic blade, in my opinion starting with bloodborne makes all the others game more fun
Elden ring is one million percent the easiest for new players just the fact of it being open world and being able to come back to something if it’s to hard the map is way easier to explore
In my opinion DS2 is one of the better titles to start, that stated SOFTS is absolute trash the remake ruined the game for me. I played the origonal dark souls 2 for years then after the disk broke I got SOFTS as I thought it might be better only to find that all of the enemies had been moved and tons had been added. I do agree that the hollowing mechanic sucks but it also gives a strong reason to not die. I will admit that some of the later bosses specifically Nashandra and her Sunken King version are the worst bosses in the entire game. They combine AOE attacks with annoying spawns and annoying gimmicks that make the fights seem horrible, those two bosses however are really the only 'bad bosses' Dark Souls 2 might not be the most 'fun' out of the three but as all sequels it tried to copy DS1 in to many ways. I think that DS2 had the best story out of all of them and that in at least the original game, it is one of the better souls games.
@@Rosegx it lowers the quality of the game to a certain extent for sure and when you’re comparing Bloodborne to Ds3, Elden Ring, and Sekiro, you have to take into account that those games are much better experiences especially in 2024 because we’re so used to 60 to even 240 fps that 30 fps is a horrible experience. Core gameplay and story are the 2 biggest factors but performance and user experience is a close 2nd. It is what it is and if you say that 30 doesn’t degrade the experience compared to other souls games then you’re simply just coping. Play Bloodborne and switch straight to sekiro and its just night and day. BB easily feels like the oldest game in the series now.
@@Rosegx I think it is fair tho. Imagine if they released a remake like demons Souls for Bloodborne. It might be universally acclaimed the greatest souls game of all time. But instead its 30 fps and mid graphics which makes the gameplay feel clunky, so therefore its kinda just in the mix in the top 4 for most people. It does degrade the quality🤷🏿♂️
I was absolutely appalled when I saw the sub count. This is on the quality level of some of the best souls creators in this community. Really amazing job.
Sekiro is kind of an oddity because of how differently it plays from the rest of the souls games, so I think it's disconnected from the others in terms of being a starter game. You can start with it or end with it and get a similar experience
- ds1 is very old game by now. To enjoy the gameplay now you should have played it back in 2011. It is unplayable for me. As it turns out the best part of a game is pvp/coop that died long time ago. Can be easily recommended to new people. - Elden Ring the worst of all. Because of its stupid empty open world. I’ve spent more that 30 hours in first region exploring nothing but groups of enemies, boring dungeons, 2 castles, dragon and magic trap prisoner to realize that there is nothing interesting to explore. Looting and collecting crap materials for craft just a bs. Because spending time to craft short time buff simply not worth it. Useless and time consuming for me. Upgrading stones are so damn limited that you can’t afford upgrade side weapons to experiment with your play style. You have one main weapon where you spend all resources and secondary, that lacks upgrades by 1-3 levels. It’s not a Skyrim, where you can go and do whatever you want, and not a DS with solid journey experience.
By the way about bosses in ds3 and Elden ring, you don’t need a tactics or to know their move set, all you need is pure damage, as high as you can get. By simply following this rule you can easily beat most bosses. It stupid how simple this rule is.

@heavy_hate5346 yeah tbf but also its just fun to learn patterns
