  • In this video I go through if you need G99 for your solar install and what information you need to supply on your application. You can also find out how long it took me to get G99 approval for my solar install.

    thank you for this video. It would be interesting to know what kW rating your panels and battery pack are rated at, and also how much, if any you are exporting back to the grid and how much you can make from that please

    • @daniel_coe

      Panels are 390w x 14 = 5.4kW, solar inverter is only 4kW so max output is 4kW. The battery inverter is 2.9kW, the battery is 8kW. I have been looking at my monthly numbers in other videos, check them out: th-cam.com/video/XG695kmqV4o/w-d-xo.html

      @@daniel_coeso max export is 6.9kw? if max solar + battery forced discharge? or can you prevent battery discharging to the grid and leave that out of the G99?

    Hi, only just found your channel. Excellent info!
    UK POWER NETWORKS have something new called Smart Connect which appears to be a fast alternative to G99, can anyone confirm this? If this is so, has anyone experience of it?

    Thanks for this, I am looking for a supplier in the East of England as well, could I ask the supplier and what panels you ended up going with, what kw output does your system produce?

    • @daniel_coe

      "Green Solar World". Jinko 390w black panels. It's 14 panels (10 South, 4 East) 14x 390w = 5.46kW but with a 4kW inverter.

    was there any additional cost involved? Also, does this actually mean that you can use the PV battery system as standalone and you will not be able to feed in from grid or feed into the grid in the meantime?

    • @daniel_coe
      @daniel_coe  ปีที่แล้ว

      There may have been a cost, but it was wrapped up into the solar installer's price that I never saw.

    Do you need it when not exporting? The SunSynk inverters come with a CT Coil that basically stop outgoing AC current. Thanks

    • @daniel_coe
      @daniel_coe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good question, you'd have to ask your DNO or installer really. But perhaps you still have the potential to export with the panels if you ever changed the inverter

    Hi Daniel, do you know where you stand on a DIY install with this? I'll be installing a 4.5kw panel only system and just looking at using what I create rather than storing or exporting so won't be using SEG etc?

    • @daniel_coe
      @daniel_coe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would probably ask your DNO for clarification, as some DNO's may differ around the UK. I believe it is usually based on inverter size and how much potentially you could be sending back to the grid at any one time.

    Do you have any idea about can I use givenergy 5kw inverter and 10 panels 3.5 kW installation without go g99, after I can apply and I can add 3-4 panels ?

    • @daniel_coe
      @daniel_coe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it's all about how much power you could potentially push back to the grid or draw from the grid. So if the inverter was of a set size and did not change and was within the limits of not needing G99 then I can't see it being a problem, even if you add on panels later. But do remember each DNO around the country is different and may set their own rules. I would ask your DNO this question or your installer for their opinions.

      @@daniel_coe it is not even about saving. There is a boom in solar installation and time ticking. There is no big difference in price between 3.68kw and 5kw but 5 kW is more futureproof as my roof can handle 15 panels (12 vertical and 3 horizontal on one side) just I'm still on planing phase.

  • @martinsteele5171

    Hi Daniel trying very hard to get my head around this dno buiseness.
    Is it rated off the power on your roof or the power sent back to the grid.
    Ie I am planning on installing 8kw of panels on my roof.
    Will I need an 8 kW inverter that only puts back 3.6 kW to grid.
    Or is that not possible .
    Regards Martin steele
    Sorry but I am really confused with the dno buiseness.

    • @daniel_coe
      @daniel_coe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe its how much power you may need able to send back to the grid. You can over design your set up a bit like mine. I have 5.5kW but a 4kW inverter. The solaredge inverter allows you to have 150% more panels than the rated inverter. So a 4kw could handle 6kw of panels. Not sure how other inverter companies handle it.
      If you have more questions I'm sure an installer will help you out and give advice on the best system for you.

  • @mirola73

    • @daniel_coe
      @daniel_coe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean my whole system, it was £11.5k if you mean to apply for G99 I don't know if anything, as the installers did it for me and didn't itemise that on the invoice.
