    Great exercises, thanks for the succinct and clear explanations to techniques and why we do them!

    Thank you, Richie. I have been searching for a good warmup method to go with the rest of my practice as I seek to reclaim some of my ability after a 35-year absence It appears we may be in the same age group. That gives me hope and encouragement as I endeavor to play skillfully and respectfully in my church. Many thanks. I am sure I will be following you regularly as time goes on to improve and enjoy the process.

    Excellent; thank you, Richie. I think if I did this "warm up" I'd be fried for the rest of the day! I bought the Schlossberg book awhile back, took one look. at it and said 'ouch!' and stuck it back on the shelf. Guess I'll pull it out again. I can't keep doing the same old stuff all the time.

    • @RichieVitale
      @RichieVitale  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, it's a great book but if it's a little much...make your own warmup Rezillo :-)
      And there are a lot of "doable" exercises in the Schlossberg method.

    At this point I can only get to top line E, I seem to be stuck there....I believe me pay strength is there, I am powerful in the neck jaw area I think my technique is flawed above E ( 7th month Trumpet player) ...love your channel.

      @RichieVitale  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't worry about range until I became a professional player. The "sound" is much more important :-)

    Hello, might it say to me that it marks and model of trumpet uses in the video? Thank you

    • @RichieVitale

      I was trying the Challenger trumpet, very similar to my ML Bach strad. I now play a Yahama 8310Z which I love!

    Please mouthpiece you use in this song?

    • @RichieVitale
      @RichieVitale  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a Giardinelli mouthpiece that was given to me so I've had a copy made for safety. I've found that the mouthpiece you choose has nothing to do with the one other people use. Eventually you find one to fit your style, your requirements, and your chops...if you're lucky :-)

    Ritchie, how long does this take you to do and how much rest do you take after? What do you do after this session? If your chops feel banged up from the day before, do you go through this full warm up or do you modify it? Thx!

    • @RichieVitale
      @RichieVitale  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      First of all, let me apologize for not responding more quickly...I had over 130 comments there were held for "approval" I wasn't aware of. I do about 1/2 of the exercises in this video and then walk away for a couple of minutes, and then I complete them. Some guys, Doc Severinsen, Johnny Frosk, warmed up much longer, but they're playing demanded more. I'm just trying to get a warm and centered sound and then I practice material from my books or the songs I'm going to perform.

    Hey Ritchie. How much time do you spend on this warm up and what is the rest of your daily practice like on an average day? Before a gig is this all you do then rest? Thx!

    • @RichieVitale
      @RichieVitale  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do this religiously every day (except yesterday as I have a gig today and wanted to practice the songs I'm going to perform). I will do this warmup today and practice my tunes for 1/2 hour to an hour without beating myself up :-)

    On the pedal tone (maggio) section the tuning on the low A's and Ab's was really bad- they are still real notes so there isn't an excuse. The 'pedal C' wasn't a C, it sounded as a C sharp, the valve combination doesn't matter but you have to find the right pitch.
    You also play with so much tension; you'd probably find both the sound and intonation improved greatly if you played more efficiently and relaxed.

    • @RichieVitale
      @RichieVitale  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you...I don't over analyze pedal tones...it's something more recent I've added to my warmup to loosen up. As far as tension...I don't feel that way unless I'm working on increasing my range.
