Hey mate just wanted to say thanks for your video. We got stuck today 200kms from home when the alternator belt totally disintegrated. My old man was able to grab a new belt, drive to us and we fitted it using your video. Thanks again!
Yet again another informative and educational video, thanks again Nick, I could safely say that I would feel comfortable having a go of changing belt’s in a breakdown situation, cheers for Wagga Wagga
Thanks Nick. Mine went today far from home but was able to pick up a new belt and have the confidence to replace it after watching your video. Much appreciated!
Thanks for making this mate, there are so few good DIY videos on the Mux in English. I’d love to see a full EGR and intake manifold removal and clean, that’s the big one many of us 4JJ1TC owners really want to get done. I recently asked a shop for a quote and he winced at the thought. Also checking and adjusting clearances is next on my list.
Just bought 2013 dmax few months ago as my first car and your vids have very helpful for someone who's broke and has to do the work himself. Thanks mate great vid and keep it up
Thanks Nick for passing in your knowledge, you make it look so easy with your clear and precise commentary and video presentation, thank you from Dunsborough WA.
Thank you for the knowledge bomb, got me out of a pinch this week when my a/c belt spat it 300 km from home in horrid heat, was not a fun drive home! Living remotely you need to know how to do these tasks. Belt arrived in the mail and fitted in a jiffy! Thanks again! #dmax
Great video Nick, I've been meaning to change the drive and AC belt in my 2013 model for a while, so this video was the impetus to do so. The AC belt is the same. I then discovered there are a few slight differences: Difference 1: there are two possible alternator belts for the 2013 - 2014 models - 7PK990 or 7PK1020. Recommend you purchase both and take the unused one back to your parts store for a refund (mine ended up being the 7PK1020). Difference 2: These earlier models have the oil filter up high and right in the way of where your alternator tensioner adjustment bolt is - it's pretty much impossible to reach as you have done. Looks like oil filter has been relocated in newer years. You need to go through the driver’s side wheel arch, and easier with the wheel removed. Difference 3: My alternator setup does not have a tensioner wheel per-se, it's simply alternator - water pump - crank. Which is why the belt is shorter at 990mm or 1020mm. Anyway, easy enough to do, and thank you for your video!
Thanks for the videos. You have given me extra confidence in tackling these sorts of jobs myself. So far I've done the bullbar and today I did the belts. Wonder what is next, the transmission oil change video has me thinking 😎
Thank you for your great video, I did however find it easier to get to the fan belt pulley nut from underneath this is exactly how you described that it helps line up all the ribs of the belt also
Great stuff nik cheers for that.. my a/c belt had twisted at the bottom for some unknown reason to me. I un twisted it then it eventually snap and the alternator belt has tear in it and moved slightly.. would it be time to change the tensioner pully. Car has done 200k
Thanks for all uour tutorials Nick. I have a 2014 dmax and the alternator set up is different. No tensioning pulley but rather the standard adjustment lever on the alternator, to be done from below more easily. See this often?
Thanks for the vid mate, top notch! Quick question. My belt seems fine (50ks) and the tension on it as well (more to the tight side of deflection) but the belt wobbles a bit on my ac belt. (Lower belt runs true) i swapped the bearing on the tensioner cause it sounded a bit crispy but still wobbles, I wonder if my top 3 bearings are misaligned. Any tips to solve this very annoying squeak? Cheers and thank you again
Nick! Have you considered compiling a book supported by your incredible videos to make some serious money. It would be , from an owners point of view, be a very useful thing to have on hand to help owners who service their own vehicles? Also for being on hand when traveling and needing repairs from someone unfamiliar with the Isuzu. Thanks again for reply to a previous call for help. John
Great video nick, pitty my 2014 spacecab is slightly different to yours, got the aircon done but having issues with the drive belt... excellent video on the general overview and things to look out for
good aftewr nic congratios on the birth off your second daughter hope mum and bubs are doing fine i love your videos i have a 2018 d max i was woundering how do you get the service due reading on the dash off thank you geoff
Thanks Geoffrey, to get the warning off you use the buttons on the end of the indicator stalks to scroll through the menu in the instrument cluster. When you get to settings, hold down the right indicator stalk button to select. Then go through the list using the stalk buttons until you reach maintenance and select. And scroll down to the item you want to select and change.
Great video, as always. Wouldn't happen to know if these fit the 2.5 4jk1 by any chance? Norway only got the 2.5 due to emissions and taxes, and there's really no options for parts except the absolutely robbery that is the brand dealers. There's much more support for parts for the 3.0, which is why I'm wondering
Hi Nick another well presented and easy to follow maintenance video. I have learnt a lot about my dmax following your channel, what is the best way to hose out and clean engine /bay thank you.
Thanks a lot Bill! The best way is to use some car wash and water in a spray bottle to make a soapy spray. Then spray it all through the engine bay and let it soak for 10 mins or so and then hose off or use a gerni on light pressure. There's nothing in the engine bay to worry about getting wet because the ecu is inside the vehicle. Just try not to stay in one spot for too long while washing off and you shouldn't have any issues. Cheers 🙂
Hi Nick, still enjoying you great videos on the Isusu before i get my new one this month. Just noticed on one of your videos your black wheels when you took one off the mux i noted Made in China casted on the inside rim of yhe wheel. Having spent 25 years in the tyre and wheel business I am surprised you have them on your car!? Look out for cracks due to poor design and metallurgical defects. I have seen many cheap wheels fail over the years, with one of my customers a wheel flying apart causing a serious accident. Perhaps do a video on some quality wheels that pass our export standards, not import standards. Keep up the good work😊
@@LowRangeNick Can't seem to comment, but there is an alternative alternator belt - shop used my rego and gave me the 1080, however my model doesn't have a bottom tensioner - the alternator is the tensioner and it uses a 1020 😔
If you check out my previous video upload on the power steering oil change I show you where it's located. It's driven off the front of the engine on a set of gears internal to the timing case. Cheers!
Hey there Nick Could you give a video explanation of how the clutch fan works? Was recently asked by a " mr expert if i knew how the fan works and if knew if the fan was working. Ive had many vehicles with clutch fans and never given it a second thought
Hey Mick, the viscous fan works by having a fan run by a fluid or oil coupling onto the fan hub which is run off the engine. When the oil in the fan hub is cold it is thicker so the fan moves quickly. When it warms up it thins out and the fan moves slower. Hope that makes sense haha there's probably some good youtube videos on it.
Hi Nick, would the engine sustain any damage if I install a AC belt on a Holden Rodeo RA I bought without knowing if the air conditioning compressor is seized?
A similar Chevrolet trailblazer 2 has a Duramax engine, there is one belt on all units, but there is always a problem with the tensioner, do you often change the tensioner?

I would probably just give the pulley a spin with the belt off and see if the bearing sounds noisy. It may still be OK.
I also tighten the tensioner adjustment nut after installation, just nip it up slightly to stop it backing out.

Just check with your local auto store what they recommend for your vehicle. I thought all the a/c belts were V belts on the isuzu?

Hey Nick, it helps if you place a piece of ply on the milk crate so you don’t end up falling through it…..like I did.lol🤣
PS Great vid!
Haha that's a good one! Maybe I should have recommended a rated safety step instead of a milk crate 🤣
just noticed my belt squeals at high revs so ill need to change of these.
I have a 2013 dmax 4jj1 motor. It seems I don't have the tensioner pully for the alternator belt. How would I get it off
How often do you change the belts😀
How do you keep your engine bay clean, washing tries out the pulley bearing then we end up with that horrible sound
I just gerni the engine bay after every trip. Try not to hammer toomuch water around the belts. 🙂
Demonstrated nicely.
Thought the first or final step is to clean the engine bay, though. lol
Haha it does need a bit of a clean 🤣
The factory belt I removed was a 7PK1070 not 1080, where did you get the 1080 recommendation?
