Filipino guy here, and you’re absolutely right, there are parts of Mindanao that are a no-go zone even for Filipino nationals, unless you’re local to the community. There are multiple terrorr groups in Mindanao that actually fight among themselves at times. They regularly kidnap tourists and locals alike, and don’t get it twisted, they have no qualms about kidnapping wealthy Muslims as well. The Philippine Army and Marines are often deployed to Mindanao to try and keep the peace.
I was tempted to go recently but it was advised against on the British Gov website, basically meaning that they won't help if anything happens to you. Philippines has many beautiful places to visit so it's not worth it.
genuinely wild to me how up their own backsides some people are, thinking they can just waltz into places and people will just let THEM specifically, and nobody else. main character syndrome.
Most of us Flipinos do not even go in that part of the country. I don't want to victim blame, but he should have been more cautious. Please, foreigners, our country is beautiful, but if the locals tell you that a certain place is too dangerous to explore, please LISTEN!
He made content about how dangerous it was. Made content about how people were telling him to leave, folks are looking for him. Ignored everything to stay in a place with known terrorists & rebels... Played stupid games, win stupid prizes
I'm Lebanese. I saw a reel in the summer of an American woman who came to visit Lebanon and was walking alone at night in streets that are not very safe, while saying she felt safe. Thank God she didn't get jumped and robbed at gun point. Foreigners don't know where you can walk freely and do whatever you want and where you can't, and even when they know they do it anyway. It is not disrespectful or racist to recognize that there are dangerous places and people.
@J01324 she sounds... "smart." where in lebanon? and was she herself of lebanese descent (2nd or 3rd gen) or not at all, and did she speak arabic, or not at all, and did anything happen? i'm annoyed by ppl like her, unnecessarily putting herself in dangerous situations. and then, if something does happen, make the country look bad.
Unfortunately that is your average american. They are so used to colonizing everything and thinking everything is theirs. Everywhere they go, they act like they are still in America.
@@calliemontparnasse820being annoyed by harmless people rather than the dangerous ones is crazy. Yes, people need to be smart and safe, but you don’t know what led up to a person being in and place/scenario, and the only people who deserve shame are selfish, ruthless criminals who wish to do harm to others for their own gain. Point blank, period.

If you stand out from the local population, don't know enough of the language to get yourself out of trouble, and make significantly more money than the locals, you're at risk. This guy didn't have to flash his bling-- his clothes being nicer than everyone else's might have been enough to make him a target.
To me it's' crazy that tourist will even attempt to go to those regions. When I studied abroad in Brasil some of the white guys wanted to go to a favela in Rio. Our professors had to get the local police involved to call the drug lords and ask them to not kidnap or unalive the students. It was such a bizarre situation and they were lucky to make it out alive. I, however, went back to my host family's home because I knew my parents weren't paying any ransom in case the drug lords changed their minds
@@GalaxyKane this kind of story does not even have to be specific in Philippines NOR Mindanao like what Aba said... this could've easily happen in America --- a dude going to dangerous/poor part of town/city then making it known to everybody he has money
@@digitalian99hell, for a more American Example, there’s a reason you avoid driving in the middle of Mexico, hell, stepping out of the resort without a guide.
I was born and raised in good ol’ inner-city Baltimore as a kid. There are places we knew by heart where to avoid like the plague because it was a hub for gang violence or drugs. My aunt invited her friend from the suburbs with her spoiled kid to our apartment wanted to check out those parts. We gave him a look and asked why did he want to get stabbed. Apparently, years later, he felt like he was a big guy on the block after they went to some gathering and tried to start a fight about being better than somebody and he really _did_ get stabbed multiple times and had barely survived because the ambulance got their quick. And that’s in the US where the vast majority of people speak English. Imagine starting shit in a foreign country where you don’t even know the language. I’m don’t like victim blaming, but if you know for a fact that there’s a place where the locals avoid like the plague, and you still _choose_ to go, then you kinda have yourself to blame.
I don’t think Aba is being cruel. I think he’s being realistic. The world is a dangerous place and you have to protect yourself out there. Take this as a cautionary tale. Edit: unfortunately people struggle with recognizing nuance in a discussion. I am not victim blaming. An unsuspecting female being sexually assaulted isn’t the same as a man who profits off people’s suffering and ignores locals’ warnings to not venture into dangerous areas. It’s unfortunate but I don’t feel as bad either. In any case a perpetrator that does another harm is 100% responsible we gotta be mindful of our surroundings and watch our backs esp traveling.
Out of all the borderline Legal business he could do there, He got into Loan Sharking? Come on now, that and sticking out like a sore thumb as an obvious foreigner is a big target on him.
I remember this because I had a conversation with my fiance about it at the time. Not only did he know how bad the area was, not only did he start money lending, not only did he not speak the language or understand the culture, but he was also warned that it was coming. Literally right before it happened he made a video saying that someone warned him through talking to his wife’s family that there was a plot to get him. He chose to stay and “hope” it wouldn’t actually happen. At that point like my fiance and I agreed talking about it, that’s a level of stupid that I can’t feel bad for when the consequences finally land. You chose this after knowing how bad it was and not only knowing that it had happened multiple times to others in the area but also being warned that they were actively planning to come get you soon. At a certain point, even though I don’t wish ill on anyone, you are responsible for the bad things that happen to you.
The first line of defense , the first advocate, and first responder in a bad spot is *you*. If he wanted to play "will they *really* kidnap and hurt me-" he's already playing crazy games.
As a Filipino, I've observed that many Western expats in the Philippines tend to overestimate their security. My intuition tells me that the festive, hospitable, people-pleasing culture of the locals, plus their apparent bias toward Westerners, lulls them into an unearned sense of complacency, causing them to do things most Filipinos would consider risky and stupid. I also sense a strong confirmation bias in their insistence that the Philippines is safer, happier, and more socially and culturally developed that their own countries. In their desire to justify their choice to leave, these expats delude themselves into believing the Philippines to be some sort of exotic utopia. I've lived most of my life in the Philippines, and I can only scratch my head at the rose-tinted glasses these foreigners keep wearing. It's also by taking advantage of this naivete that Filipino gold diggers ensnare foreigners into marriage and helping them acquire foreign citizenship.
Filipinos have a very happy, friendly, smiley exterior. If someone acts like that towards you in the West, it means they really like you. In the Philippines, that's just the culture and it would be rude for a Filipino not to act like that, but it doesn't mean they actually like you. Westerners don't pick up on that and will push and push their boundaries until it's too late.
I wholeheartedly agree, cause not only do they not understand how to read the intentions of Filipinos but the simple fact that they’re not trying to realize that the phillipines has the same street culture that elsewhere in the world does and you have to be vigilant and lowkey as you would in any ghetto in the US or Brazil. Can’t even feel bad for these delusional dudes
So he is a foreign loan shark openly advertising his lifestyle and whining on TH-cam? And also actively going to places locals warned him about? To be honest that is just tempting fate. Even if he was in a "safe place" that behavior was bound to piss someone off.
I’m from the Philippines (specifically more up north nearby baguio and nampicuan) and my dad was in the national army who was often moved more down south and you don’t even have to go too far down south to see active warzones. Manila slums has human traffickers in public and they can immediately tell if you’re not from there even if you aren’t Filipino, especially if you’re a foreigner. This guy is so fucking dumb, the government is too caught up rn on assassination attempts on the former president to even care. Mabuhay tho

He supposedly converted to Islam when he got married but usury is haram (prohibited) in Islam. Basically guaranteed to piss people off doing this...
As someone who is going on three years trying to immigrate his African wife to the US, maybe we need to consider other factors. My wife is from a dangerous area. I've considered living there because of all the roadblocks the government placed in our path and all our time they've wasted. Granted, I wouldn't be advertising my presence on social media, but the locals would know I'm there.

I went to the Philippines early this year. I had such a good time in Manila and Palawan. Before we went i checked the UK's travel advisory and i saw that there were some islands coloured in red with advice not to travel there. Everywhere i went was in a green zone. I hope people dont get scared to travel but just be smart and safe.

We live in the northern region of the Philippines. My uncles went down south to visit a friend who was a local there; that friend provided them with six bodyguards to travel around town. Abduction of foreigners in the past couple of decades happened in that same region. It was just so careless of this guy to flaunt and broadcast his means.
dude when we were young, Extremist people in mindanao would put videos of beheadings and that alone would put fear in our hearts and would never go there even if its close to us
What gets me is that he decided to settle in this dangerous area... without learning the language. He can't negotiate nothing, can't describe nothing, can't pick up anything from conversation nothing, can't get warned to not be stupid my the local auntie nothing. He really just went in blind, dumb, and white...... Unbelievable.
Very true. To further that, some locals were telling him to leave, that there might be something happening to him soon... and he STILL decided to stay and keep making videos.
Have you been to PH? Opened a history book? Apparently not. A lot of them know English. Even if he knew the language, that's not going to help him in a dangerous area like that. But there are a lot of places in PH you can live safely.
I am from America, and I went to the Philippines 🇵🇭 in March of 2024. I went to see my girlfriend and she told me not to leave from the front of the airport . She is now my fiance, and she lives in the province. I sent time with her family and friends. l. I had a blast. I enjoyed the Filipino culture and food. I will not disrespect them. My parents are both from the Republic of Panama 🇵🇦. I went to Panama 🇵🇦 in 2018.
I am from Mindanao, but in the northern part. It is in the same province from where this guy was abducted but still 6-7 hrs away. The South is big, so I do not agree when people start to generalize by saying Mindanao is dangerous. It is the second largest island in the country. There are a lot of foreigners living in the South, my husband included. He travels around by himself and roams our city without any issues, just like the other foreigners living there. I heard the kidnapping happened because of a love triangle, and I also heard a rumor that, because he was documenting their life online, the people weren't happy about it. He was in an area where the majority are Muslims, and I guess they didn't agree with him documenting everything around him. I could be wrong, but that was one of the rumors I heard. I would also like to say that not everyone in Mindanao is Muslim, and being Muslim doesn't mean being dangerous. I hope people will stop connecting those two together. Again, Mindanao is one big island. Just be cautious of your surroundings and other countries' cultures.
Lol walking with your camera shouldn't be a cause why he got kidnapped, if it's not dangerous idk what it is. Man should be free to walk wherever he want, unless it is some government shit, army etc.
@angelika5622 the world doesn't revolve around you and not everyone will understand everything you do so kindly comprehend what I was trying to point out in my statement.
lending money in general is dangerous because usually crime gangs run it and also, when people get overextended and can't pay you back, they will sell you out or worse to get out from under you.
I used to be a youth facilitator in an NGO. I'm from Eastern Samar in the Philippines. We are known for being batshit crazy because we fight anyone with a machete, I speak 4 local languages, and most of my family are in the army. I have traveled all over the country since I was 15, but I never and will never ever go to Mindanao.😂 Yeah,... just don't do it.
I'm from the Philippines, Mindanao, and this is a very common crime here of abduction and kidnapping of foreigners because they see them as currency, and police are very involved as always as their side hustle, and for the foreigners, especially in the west, just settle a plain Jane girl in the area and don't go if you don't know the customs and culture because if you do, you fuck around and find out. Just be safe.
Saying its "very common" means it happens frequently, back then maybe, dont get me wrong i understand your point, but dont make it seem worse than it is, its just a case of a dumbass who shouldnt be in a place hes not meant to go.
Yeah no I'll go where I want thx if I wanna marry in a different country I will, I'll carry a piece on me, I really don't think this is a common thing, not to mention can happen anywhere
I was in the U.S Navy so I've definitely known Filipinos and know men who married women from the islands. A shipmate from the islands was clear he was gonna make this money and retire back in the Philippines. He was also very clear no fucking way do you sport American wealth without security. On another level, men that meet the wrong one, get married, and can't cough up dough do end up dead with a girl collecting on their behalf...paying off other people. It's a crazy world and if you think shit changed you're just waking up to how wild it can be.
Wisdom is required to look at a situation from multiple angles. Compassion is required to empathize with the best interests of all sides (sustained life & protection etc..). Courage is required to say the truth plainly... before, during and after an incident has occurred. I support you both because somehow you're able to show up in these ways in an honest and entertaining way. I appreciate yal and I'm obviously not alone in this sentiment. Thank you!
People don’t realize how dangerous it is to go to a foreign country. I went to Mexico on a mission trip when I was 16 with my local church and a cab driver tried to scam our group by saying that we damaged his car. We didn’t and we happen to have people in our group who spoke good Spanish, so we were able to get out the situation, but it could’ve very easily ended up with us getting thrown in jail or badly hurt if we were not careful.
When I was in Nigeria a cab driver hit a car and was trying to put the blame on us as if we were the ones driving. My mom speaks the local language and wasn't having any shit so let's just say his plan didn't work out.
Jumping from "I experienced a sketchy situation" to "traveling to a foreign country is dangerous" is pretty big leap dude. There are parts of Chicago I wouldn't go to, but I wouldn't tell people it's dangerous to visit America.
Not only the locals warned him about that place. But the tourism and immigration department also tells every foreigners to avoid going to that region specifically because of high cases of kidnapping for ransom of tourists specifically foreigners 🤦♂. Source: I live 4 hours away from where he was abducted and I haven't been there my entire life.
I’m in Zamboanga city right now and I have been here since October. He lived in Zamboanga City for over a year without issue. I’m not saying that it’s 100% safe but my in-laws (I’m married to a Filipina from Zamboanga) say not to leave the city, never travel alone, and don’t go out at night. I have been here off and on since early 2023. If you don’t use common sense things like this is guaranteed to happen. Of course, I can get kidnapped regardless but I try my best to listen to the people who live here. Second, getting involved in illegal money lending is crazy even in say Manila or a quote and quote safe place here.
Dude just get out of there, cause you can't tempt fate forever. Just live in the Luzon area where it's more civilized and safer. You will stick out like a sore thumb in mindanao.
My lady is from the Philippines (lived there until the age of 12) and I told her about this story a few weeks ago. She told me she would NEVER go to that part of the country. Does it sucks he got kidnapped… yes BUT!!!! He made the conscious decision to go to red zone part of the country 🤷🏽♂️. If you’re not a local or from that part of the country do not go there flashing your wealth and expect everyone to love you 🙃.
its so crazy cause i just came back from philippines 5 days ago and its absolutely crazy he went to live in the most dangerous area. he did it to himself honestly. when you go to philippines dress in shorts and a shirt please for ppl reading this dont wear jewelry as much as possible and also have a crossbody bag and keep your stuff in there and have your hand on the bag at all times. i was there 3 weeks on the trip and i had no problems.
Yep , wear slippah, shorts and shirts. Depending on where you go, wear as hideous as you can without getting denied entry to establishments (like malls). Wear crossbody bag. Dont put cash visibly, at your back pocket or front pocket. Get a jacket that has inner pocket and there you wallet. When you walk and somebody acting touchy, shout if you are at crowded area or just run. One thing to avoid this is just don't go to slum areas, follow a family with kids (usually they are willing to help).
My dad is German and is exactly the person Aba described who moved to the Philippines, met my mom, ingratiated into the culture, and wanted to be there. There’s a saying that the most beautiful islands and beaches are in the southern most places as Mindanao really is untouched. This in mind, he knew all his life to never set foot in Mindanao as he will just look like a giant target. Hell, I move and act like a Filipino all my life but even I haven’t set foot there as being half German makes me already look foreign to everyone there. Hearing news like this just saddens me as I believe my country truly is worth visiting as Thailand, Vietnam, or Indonesia. But even if it’s obvious that the guy was being irresponsible, this will leave people rather wanting to be safe than sorry and avoid the Philippines
Fred, Alter , Nee das ist völlig übertrieben , there are plenty of half filipino and half white in the Philippines . You are over exaggerating the "foreign look = in danger" thing . and in germany you look foreign too and you know good and well where to not set foot in . in DE ( as do i ) . I travel every 2 years to Ph and i am non philippino and i am mixed race also . i do not have the damsel in distress syndrome . we are good over here.
@PHlophe he is literally talking about the one dangerous area and not setting foot there, nowhere did I read a damsel in distress syndrome in his tone, he was saying that because his father is German he knew not to step foot in Mindanao at all especially because the man's father clearly isn't Filipino and he's mixed but doesn't go there either his whole life even though he was born there and looks somewhat mixed. He didn't say there weren't other mixed Filipino people living there. And he is saying now this story about the reckless youtuber could have some foreigners maybe be a little paranoid about the Phillipines in general rather than just visiting and staying out of that area. Idk how you perceived any kind of negative tone or damsel in distress syndrome from the comment written. He is basically saying the same exact thing this video and Aba was saying but from direct experience and you explained the same situation as his.

Some people nowadays are so selfish that it blows my mind. That's the motivation behind not telling the truth when it matters.

The Colombian and American embassy have warned Americans not to travel to Colombia, especially Medellin. Money lending, even in the safer areas in the Philippines, is a dangerous business. We've heard of lenders getting offed by someone who borrowed from them. We've heard of borrowers getting offed because they couldn't pay what they owed. Private lenders (maybe not like this guy, I'm not familiar with him), lend money but with ridiculous interest rates (not unlike banks but worse). Ironically, there's money to be made in poverty and desperation - it's incredibly sad. Kidnap for ransom groups are a whole 'nother level. It's been months since he was abducted, I'm fearing for the worst. Hopefully I'm wrong and he'll survive and learn a big lesson from all this.
It's possible. When I was in the military, it was heavily pushed to be wary about seemingly "perfect" women overseas. The whole passport bros just encourages dudes to serve themselves up on a silver platter to women who make a career out of seducing & fleecing naive American men.
I have a feeling that she wanted to leave the Philippines, and he was setting up a loan shark business and wanting to stay. Her family probably expected him to take her to a better life and to send them from money America-not making money off of locals. When he didn’t get the hint, they got rid of him. Those women don’t marry an American to stay put; they want too be brought to America for opportunities.
I remember that one journalist from my country ( to chyba był Wojciech Cejrowski) told how once a gang wanted to kidnap him for ransom (it was a long time ago 15-20 years ago when Poland was still a developing country) but the guys from the gang checked the income per capita and decided that he came from too poor country to be worth kidnapping. When he asked why, the one who wanted to kidnap him started explaining that they have very high costs with such kidnappings because they have to pay many people and also for hideouts that they have to change etc.
As someone from a small country where tourists often like to come and explore, it’s annoying when we locals tell them not to go to a certain place and they still go. It gets to a point where we don’t even bother to help out anymore bc these tourists think they’re being “adventurous”.
Eastman is unfortunately probably dead. I remember following this story a month ago and the lack of any demands is unusual if its an actual kidnapping for money. (I'm from the PH btw) I believe the local narrative that it was a domestic issue (a foreigner marrying a local Muslim girl) that turned to intimidation/kidnapping that probably escalated to murder. If he was shot in the leg with an "m16" as eye-witnesses say he was, then there's a good chance he didn't make it out alive.

This reminds me of a video I saw of a " passport bro" who wanted to settle in the DR and start a business there. He got engaged to a local there, only to find out she was with the cartel, which they told him had to " pay for protection." He refused, and he got himself set up with a tombstone. Understand when you are in those places run by the cartel or gangs. You are in their territory.
they don't play in the DR for real. its like Brazil , one of my friends was saved at the last minute because he tried to chat with a "thirst trap" not knowing she is there on a fishing expedition. a very simple minded dude .
With titles such as “living in the most dangerous part of the Philippines” I can’t help but think this guy coulda lived ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY and wanted to prove a point. I feel bad for his family.
Real quick, as someone who's married to a Filipino, and a US combat vent, it is common knowledge for anyone aware of travel in the Philippines that the Southern province of Mindanao is not to be fucked with. There are cities, like General Santos, in the South, that are completely safe. But almost everyone will warn you about certain areas of extremists, sect members, and child soldiers. Shit, even upon booking a flight, you receive an email or letter from the State department with Express warning of traveling throughout the southern region; and should you go down there, you might be on your own. So ultimately, it is what it is. It is likely he knew better and wanted to test the cool waters of FAFO... Thoughts and prayers to his family.
I live here in the Philippines and have been following this closely and I am actually in the east part of Mindanao(this guy lived in the Muslim west part) it has nothing to do with money and everything to do with him being American and "on the radar" with social media and there are alot of Muslim extremists in that area of Mindanao, some associated with al quaeda.
probably should move to a safer city . You are an older caucasian guy and even when you live there for years , unless you speak Tagalog you are forever foreign and rich.
@@PHlopheI live in the eastern part of Mindanao not western, west of Bukidnon is dangerous for foreigners. And FYI they speak bisaya here, tagalog is learned in school but not spoken in this region
@Dragoncam13 that's very common here and legal in some ways (part of the culture) I know many people who do that with the small businesses. Some Indian foreigners are doing it in my area
As soon as I heard where he went, a red flag went up. It is dangerous to go to the area, especially as a foreigner. When I heard he was involved in loan sharking, he then put a target on his back. He needed security if he expected to be safe. Not just as a cost of business, but general safety.
This man started his TH-cam as a cry for help. He was scared and on live, he shared this and the fact that he wanted to leave with her. The woman he was with, family members don’t take kindly to anybody being from outside the tribe that enters the family, especially a westerner. I have little doubt that he is alive and believe he was killed, either by one of her family members, or hired by somebody outside their family, but by one of her family members.
The jihadists that killed and repelled numerous Spanish expeditions during our colonial era came from those parts, for hundreds of years. They have been conditioned to kill caucasian people that tried to convert them to Christianity for generations. And his stupid ass decided to marry someone from those tribes. Even if the family welcomes you, other members of the community are already plotting. To them, he resembles the look of the infidel they've fought for so long.
Been living in PH for 2.5 years. Not a long time at all but even i know not to go there. I showed my gf the first few minutes, and she knew without hearing the location. Guy is nuts. I'll stay in BGC and visit Tagaytay every now and then. 😅
What pisses me off even more is that, as someone who works in the hospitality industry, this story is going to NEGATIVELY affect the tourism industry in the PH in general. This news has now become global and could dissuade people from coming here.
I think you should direct your anger at your government, which apparently cant do anything about an island of 26 million people not being the wild west
I live in Philippines especially in Mindanao for 9 years. There has been a lot of Kidnapping happens around in Mindanao especially in the Southern Parts of Mindanao. Because that's the places where the Rebel/insurgent groups Like there has been an Isis group that occupied a city in 2016 (Marawi). To all people who are visiting the Philippines Just stay in Luzon, Visayas, Northern parts of Mindanao and Davao. I hope you are okay to the guy. first minute of the video, and I immediately thought of that guy preaching Bible to the tribe that Preach mentioned and a Canadian student who never made it out alive out of North Korea. some people just don't want to exercise caution because they think they can't get in danger just because.
Can’t believe the guy risked his life for a whole channel with under a million views total. He has like 730k views total that’s not even like 40 grand in ad revenue (if hes made any money at all). Wow insanely dumb risk to reward ratio for that guy…. I wouldn’t risk my LIFE for even a million bucks, let alone minimum wage worth of money by filming myself in a dangerous area in a foreign country.

The couple that went to India and the lady got raped, it's the same logic. I'm an Indian woman and I'll never step foot in that area. They were sleeping in a car there. Please, when you go to a country try to figure out if locals will safe to go there or not. If you can't do that then don't trash the whole country.
Yikes, that was one sad story and it barely strike a dent in the Indian's rape bubble. I don't want to say it's their fault but it could've been avoided if they just trust that stereotype for once and have it checked with Mr Google. After that the incident where the dr was killed is so sad and heartbreaking😢

My best friend was born and raised in Cebu, Philippines. He has his citizenship in the US now, but after 10 years now, he wants to go visit the Philippines again for two weeks. He straight up said to me "Dude come with me. Part of the time you can stay with my family, and the other part you can stay at a local resort. I promise you we'll feed you until you're stuffed." Given how he'll effectively be acting as my direct guide on most days while I'm there, I'm all for it. Plus Cebu is surrounded by other good locations so I'm cool with this. And no, I don't think he's planning on off-ing me for my Galaxy S23. I've lived in shady neighborhoods long enough to know it's best to never flaunt your wealth openly, especially around strangers in a place that you don't speak English. But this is wild. I actually can't wait to go (even though it's going to be in May, which is peak hot summer season with all that humidity). Actually, I'm looking forward to it.

My friend was over there, and someone tried to abduct him, but he admitted he was being a bit arrogant by how he conducted himself cause he kinda flaunted that he was rich(compared to the average local) and they tricked him into a cab. Luckily, he knows the language, so he was able to escape, and ppl came to his rescue. Point is never to be unaware of your surroundings or the attention you are bringing to yourself. Things can pop off anyway at any time.
It sucks what happened to the guy, and i hope he makes it home safe but I mean, he knew what he was possibly getting himself into and using his channel to exploit how dangerous the place is. It feels like a situation like this was inevitable.

A Xicano PP , interesting. but you are 100% right , Japan is not the safest country it markets itself as . this is a nation with money to promote the best PR and guide tourists exactly where they want them.
Seriously what is a kind of passport bro? Is it traveling mainly as a sex tourist or only for romance? What are female sex tourists called? Passport Sis, or Passport cougars? I have hooked up with women tourists before, and I have traveled visiting a place and hooked up with the locals but that was Australia with white women, Am I a passport bro? It wasn't the reason why I traveled though it just kind of happened.

Also, western travellers have this projection of SEA people being all happy and docile and polite and go there with an invisible armour of something in their head. Love you both and have been a huge fan for years now! I want to lovingly point out something to Aba: I’ve noticed that you tend to have a deep bias toward people who are deemed financially fortunate. It seems that you often become more compassionate toward these same people once you discover that they are struggling financially or aren't as financially powerful as you initially thought. Example from the "I'm dating a broke man" videos Do you think this could stem from your upbringing, perhaps tied to a fear or reverence for those in poverty? This isn’t to say your takes are wrong at all-just an observation I’ve made. I genuinely believe you are an incredibly empathetic person, especially once you perceive someone to be at a financial disadvantage. There’s no right or wrong in this, just something to reflect on. 😅 My only concern is that, as a society, we tend to dehumanize people based on financial status, reserving our compassion for those we consider underprivileged rather than extending grace and empathy to humanity as a whole. I do admire that you are very logical in most cases, but I’ve noticed instances where you seem much more compassionate and give more benefit of the doubt when financial dynamics shift. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
You never know who's watching you. Remember about a decade back, a couple went bicycling around the world to show the world isn't as bad as it seems. Then they got ran over and killed by the Taliban when they tried to go through Afghanistan around the end of the war? This reminds me of this. I hope he is returned unharmed tho.
So it was an accident or deliberate? I mean there is terrible driving in a lot of countries and poor roads, I hate narrow windy mountain roads in poor conditions with crazy drivers.
Even the local Filipinos would know if it's a dangerous area they wouldn't go there so how is this American guy an exception? Unfortunately, it happened but a little paying attention to your surroundings wouldn't hurt.
I don’t know whether to chalk this up to ignorance or arrogance (maybe both?) but it’s really difficult for me to feel difficult for this guy. Clout is one hell of a drug.
I think it's both. Ignorance because he doesn't the know muslim filipino culture. And arrogance because he feels like he's the king there because of his skin tone and american dollars.
I really dig the channel and your perspectives on different situations. However, sometimes, with the floor cracking, Preach staring in disbelief, and Aba ranting about someone or something, it feels like I’m being scolded by my two dads.
He converted to Islam but was making videos talking about it and seemed to have a very base level understanding of the religion that could quite easily be interpreted as mocking it.
Sometimes being harsh is needed. If everytime someone made a mistake you coddled them very few would be able to learn from their experiences or others. I couldn’t imagine the type of man I would be if every time I made a mistake or bad decision my parents went “it’s ok better luck next time”
Filipino guy here, and you’re absolutely right, there are parts of Mindanao that are a no-go zone even for Filipino nationals, unless you’re local to the community.

Is Cebu safe?
Filipinos have a very happy, friendly, smiley exterior. If someone acts like that towards you in the West, it means they really like you. In the Philippines, that's just the culture and it would be rude for a Filipino not to act like that, but it doesn't mean they actually like you. Westerners don't pick up on that and will push and push their boundaries until it's too late.

What about Small Laude ? She wears her jewelry openly and she’s like billionaire in the Philippines
What else would you wear than a shirt and shorts?

Well said 👍👍
Fred, Alter , Nee das ist völlig übertrieben , there are plenty of half filipino and half white in the Philippines .

That's what I think as well. These dudes have no idea what they are marrying into. Especially if they don't speak the language.
It's possible. When I was in the military, it was heavily pushed to be wary about seemingly "perfect" women overseas. The whole passport bros just encourages dudes to serve themselves up on a silver platter to women who make a career out of seducing & fleecing naive American men.

There’s only so much empathy to go around honestly.
This happening to somebody is always tragic but don’t put your cells in these kind of situations.

He could've just gone to live in I dunno, DAVAO CITY? At least that city's safe.

As soon as I heard where he went, a red flag went up. It is dangerous to go to the area, especially as a foreigner. When I heard he was involved in loan sharking, he then put a target on his back. He needed security if he expected to be safe. Not just as a cost of business, but general safety.

Example from the "I'm dating a broke man" videos
Do you think this could stem from your upbringing, perhaps tied to a fear or reverence for those in poverty? This isn’t to say your takes are wrong at all-just an observation I’ve made. I genuinely believe you are an incredibly empathetic person, especially once you perceive someone to be at a financial disadvantage. There’s no right or wrong in this, just something to reflect on. 😅
My only concern is that, as a society, we tend to dehumanize people based on financial status, reserving our compassion for those we consider underprivileged rather than extending grace and empathy to humanity as a whole. I do admire that you are very logical in most cases, but I’ve noticed instances where you seem much more compassionate and give more benefit of the doubt when financial dynamics shift. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
The locals avoid it and say stay out of there, but bro still chose to go well now he is living with those consequences sad but he made that decision.
